We all talk about the hope the future holding scientific testing that will solidify our claims of Vampires. I too hope that this will happen, but what if those tests show nothing? What if our claim that we are vampires is nothing more than just a soul/spiritual re-occurrence? What do we do then?

As far as I know there has never been any credible scientific tests as to determine the existence of Vampires as you are referring to them. Where are you getting your information for this forum post?

In short, ~Mairi~... Live.

Once science has come up with a suitable means to proof beyond a shadow of a doubt, certain characteristics, aspects, physical attributes, mental junctures, physiological conditions to constitute someone a vampire... based off of what ever example they may be using as a study piece... then by using any type of practical or impractical methods for the reveal to occur and if that reveal, reveals nothing out of the ordinary.. than, we just live.

It science has to be the, "be all end all" for a conclusive decision as to what constitutes a real vampire, living and breathing and walking among us... what then?

(apologies for the run-on sentence structure.)

I have to agree with SS, especially if its just a spiritual thing than you are going to have to come to the realization that not everyone and most likely less than half are going to believe you are a different species. If science does uncover one day a working definition on living breathing vamps then who knows but like SS said Live.

Funny... Soulshroud and I were just talking about this very thing.

In all Honestly... How do you ever expect any outside group to define what is or isn't a vampire when we can't even come to a consensus amongst ourselves about what make a vampire a vampire. We can'y even decide how to spell the word, Vampire / Vampyre.

Frankly, at this point we lack the cohesion and leadership needed to form a consistent ideology from local community to community. Without that we have only individual opinions about the way we see ourselves.... the eye of the beholder is how we will remain.

~Severus~ is correct in all regards. Since the beginning of when the community was first recognized, early 90's... after it came out of the underground, "scene"... there have been debates, speculations and what ever else type of conversations and/or discussion on just about all levels as to what constitutes a vampire, why the spelling origin changes from the, "i" to the, "y"... then when someone actually agreed on that for a short time... I, being the psychic way to feed and the Y, being the collective Sanguine way to feed.

But again after that short break, people started debating and arguing again about why the spelling kept changing, it ultimately went back to the fictional spelling for the roleplayer's vs the vampire community spelling, IE i vs y, respectively.

There are several more debates and issues that need to be worked out before science can even care to want to explain why the vampi/yre is the way it is.

The only scientific poof of real vampirism is the archetype as described by Jung. You may also search for archetype by Caroline Myss.

Daire, what little info I spoke of in my post comes from the OVC and those living beings who self identify as vampires.

In the past 6 years of so there have been documentaries done where those claim to be sang vampires had a barge of blood tests done in the attempt to scientifically prove their claim including DNA testing and so far nothing has come up to substantiate their claims. I myself don't feel that proof will be found.........

I hold a degree in biology so I have a strong science background particularly in life sciences. And am also a licensed Health Care Provider-you will see why this is relevant in the next section.

The problem is that a determination would need to be made as to the diagnostic criteria for a vampire whether it be considered a new species e.g Homo Sanguine if using blood for sustenance is a main factor or maybe Homo Nubere if the more lustful Nymphatic historical account is used. It may also be categorized as a medical distinction or even a mental illness most likely in the dissociative or at worst the psychosis end of things if the prospect Vampire is doing things for a purely psychol reason and no physical need or benefit exist,This is what would need to happen for there to be scientific backing of the official recognition of vampires.

Now, that being said. Science does not and will most likely ever know everything. Geocentric Universe, Flat earth, Mercury was good for you....just some of sciences mistakes, Plus if everything was explained by science there would not be a need for religion.

-may add more later but feel free to message me with any questions plus ill check here now and then

Truly, I do not expect an answer from science. This would be very difficult to prove.

I think if you need proof to back up your belief then it wasnt a solid belief.

Why does one need proof? If you feel you are what you are, then that should be all a person needs.

Seraphiel- I agree to dis agre there are genetic dis-orders, that cause it, this was pulled from stanford medical journal, 3 yrs ago they call it porphyria "The porphyrias are a group of rare inherited or acquired disorders of certain enzymes that normally participate in the production of porphyrins and heme. They manifest with either neurological complications or skin problems, or occasionally both.
Porphyrias are classified in two ways, by symptoms and by pathophysiology. Symptomatically, acute porphyrias primarily present with nervous system involvement, often with severe abdominal pain, vomiting, neuropathy and mental disturbances. Cutaneous porphyrias present with skin manifestations often after exposure to sun due to the accumulation of excess porphyrins near the surface of the skin.[1] Physiologically, porphyrias are classified as hepatic or erythropoietic based on the sites of accumulation of heme precursors, either in the liver or bone marrow and red blood cells.[1]
The term "porphyria" is derived from the Greek πορφύρα, porphyra, meaning "purple pigment". The name is likely to have been a reference to the purple discolouration of feces and urine when exposed to light in patients during an attack.[2] Although original descriptions are attributed to Hippocrates, the disease was first explained biochemically by Felix Hoppe-Seyler in 1871,[3] and acute porphyrias were described by the Dutch physician Barend Stokvis in 1889.[2][4]"

I agree with Upir 100%.

Unless of course, you don't care whether anyone else believes you or not. Then, proof really doesn't matter.

I agree also with the earlier statement that science will never prove everything. Also, science will never disprove everything either.

There are so many misconception about Vampirism, which are founded at the root of the Hollywood influences. For one, if you analyze a Vampire, you will find out that they die as all other animal. So, If Men/women vampires think or tell you that they will be living forever, is a big no no. The only similarity between a Human who like the taste of blood and vampires (Animal) is just that, period. All the "mambo" "wambo" about living for ever and having super psychic power and having a good "sense" about what will happen, like I said: Is Just a Hollywood infiltration of human mind to produce more Money.

I don't know that that is necessarily "proof" of vampires. Regular, every day humans can be killed and buried with a stake through the heart.
