Does anyone know where Vampirism Originated from? And who was the first Vampire..? Does anyone know for sure?

Okay I am going to be a thread Nazi here because I know that the other thread was researched for awhile before it was posted. The thread above is about Giant's Grave. The Question was asked on that thread. There has already been some answers on that thread. =)
I know of the legend of Lilith but it contain religious content if you would like to know more send me a message
Blood drinking has been a part of human evolution from the very beginning. Monsters as well, for they have also lingered in human development, the balance of light and darkness, madness and reverence.
Every continent, every society, albeit remote from one another has had their own individual 'version' of vampires. To say one is the first is to say which continent, society developed first.
Sumaria, one of the first and oldest societies of mankind had it's own version of vampires, yes predating Mesapotania/Babylon.
Yes, Lilith was a part of this era, like in almost every era. If we track it down to her, we could........theoretically.
My advice, seek the internet, seek the library, and most importantly, seek your heart.
My two cents

I suppose 'the first vampire' is a hard question... there must be incidences of vampires who existed but we dont know about it because it wasnt catalogued. But the first known vampire was supposedly Elzebeth Bathory. All you need to do is take a look on the internet to find out more! :D
I remember reading somewhere (it may have been here) that the first recorded vampire tale was celtic. I can't remember id it was the book of Kells or another book that it was contained in though.
ill check out that link and have a look, should be an interesting read
ya know countess dear since Giants grave is labled as such.. some do not recognize the story.. ya forum nazi you.. hey btw..there are different stories to different clans as well. as I have said in other posts.. just because you cant find it on the internet, does not mean it doesnt exist...
I have here a 2 vhs tapes documatry on Vampires and according to them the frist ones that were known from Babalonia called the EDIMMU (a blood sucking monster)
RELETU (spelling is off) told by the jewish people that was a blood drink feind.
but in all aspects Vampirism extends in all cultures, all religions all over the world, so its really hard to say where it stems from and who would be the 1st.
there are others vampire-like being documented in history like:
in 1486 a book was scantioned by the church called Witchhammer, that was approved to be useful in identiflying & punshing vampires (disentured & decapitated)
16th to 17th century, vampires were reported to be localized in eurpoe.
16 century plauges were thought to be related to vampires only due to unknowning and superstitious natures of neive pesants.
by the 18th century vampirism was becoming a popular subject.
in 1732 the word vampire was placed in the oxford dictionary.
when christanity became more wide spread talks of vampire attacks were more frequent.
a good representation about this is Jesus and the last supper.
(his body and blood you'd eat and drink,..yeah i'd say a vampires calling).
there were others of the like for instance:
Pete Lagogavitz
Ted Bundy
Richard Chase
Jeffery Dahmer
Arnold Payolde
David Berkawitz's son
John Haig
Vlad Tepes/ Vlad the impaler
Fritz Harman/Hanover vampire
Elizabeth Bathroy
James Reed
Jerry Moore
and 3 boys that were influenced by a movie (the lost boys)
were all depicted as vampires, had vampire tendencies or were true vampires.
if you want to know more let me know and i can tell you what i can. >:D
It depends on what religion you are talking about. Vampurisum has been going around since the dawn of time. Just do a good bit of research and you shall see that no one opinion or statement is ever the same.
I'd have to agree with Dark Pharoh on this one... I did a huge research essay on Lilith the first wife of Adam... It wasn't necessaliry Lilith that became the Vampire, Lilith was cursed by three angels Senoy Sansenoy and Semagual, I think... Spelling maybe off, but anyway these three angels cursed Lilith for not returning to Adam, she spoke Yahweh's name and flew from the Garden of Eden. She resided near the red Sea and I was told that the red sea scrolls talk about Lilith as well. As far as vampirism, it started after Cain Killed Able, Cain cast from nod would be awakened by Lilith whom he met, and she told him that she would awaken him so he could create magic of his own and provide his own clothing and provide his own food, she awakened him by cutting her wrist and filling a bowl with her blood... Cain drank her blood, then Yahweh AKA God, sent three angels to see Cain and ask him to return to Adam, The first angel was micheal the weilder of the holy sword, and he was cursed that all his kindred would be cursed to fear the wrath of Micheals Flaming Sword, the second Angel that talked to cain was Rapheal the bringer of the sun, cain denied forgiveness and Rapheals curse was that all his children shall suffer the rays of the sun for it would surely kill them, and the third angel was Ureil the angel of death, who cursed Cain and all his childer to eat ashes and drink blood for that is all he diserved for not accepting Gods forgiveness... Most of this was from the book of nod, I have a PDF file if you would like me to share, and the lilth research is hard to find, there aren't very many websites on her, I know I looked, but that is what I believe biblically, on another note I would like to believe Anne Rice's theory on that the Spirit Amel was a blood drinking demon that Possed Queen Isis who then in turn made King Osiris both full bodied vampiresand they were the fist generation, so it is between fact and fantasy that they are made, and the arguement on who was first is kinda like the chicken and the egg. Good look on your research, and if you want any of these two books I have them both on computer... Sincerly CC
that cain and abel thing sounds like you almost quoted it from the book of nod..white wolf game systems....
they are notorieous for making thinkgs sound like actual lore on a subject when it is not.....
I know... I fell into that trap for a while....
there is very little info on the actual curse laid down by god on cain in writing...
..didn't it originate from europe..well duh everything cums from there..and i don't think of it as a curse...it is more as a gift!!!..a wonderus gift indeed..:D
has benn around ever sence adom and eve had to say need more time
Intresting thread. hmm great now i have an information overload. need to find a fun thread to debrief
In the traditional Native American culture vampyres date back to the time of creation itself. Began with the drinking the Blood of the creatures we hunted then as a symbol of power over the enemies we overcame. In some tribes it is still considered the way to take the strength from your enemies. In others it's the first step to becoming a skinwalker.
I thought in Native American culture a skinwalker was a shape-shifter as in a WereWolf.....something I think I remember my Great Grandmother Buffalo telling me......She was Cherokee !
Skinwalkers are shapeshifters to become one you must start with the blood of the creatures you wish to become.
Umm maybe you need to read up on shapeshifters and how the native americans saw the way they where.. I'm sorry but what you said is not true do some research.....
Skinwalkers (yee nadlooshii) are "wer-animals" and own an animal skin that is used to transform them into these animals. An animal they have killed and performed the proper rituals over which includes the consumption of the creatures blood. The Navajo for the most part cal all their witches Skinwalkers and they perform rituals from blood drinking to necrophilia.
With the Navajo it began with the Coyote
The Coyote tale that involves skinwalkers is like this: A man admires Coyote for being clever and fast and tells Coyote that he wants to be just like him. Coyote, enjoying the moment, decides to see how loyal this man is to him. He decides to put the man through several tests, each one trying the man's loyalty in greater severity than the former. Finally, Coyote tells the man that he doesn't run with his family and has no care for them. To prove that the man is like him, the man must kill a member of his family. The man picks a family member, kills him and returns to Coyote. Coyote, impressed, rewards him by making him a skinwalker
Look up those tests
Interesting subject I would either say Ilith or Abri Dahmpere
