after reading stragella's posts on underage members, i felt i had to write this. Firstly, my feelings are that underage members should be allowed on here, but should be reminded to act accordingly. I'm underage, but i feel that i act accordingly. And like my darling romman said, you can't possibly get rid of all of them.

Maybe a good idea would be for s separate chat area for the underage members, but i don't know, really.

The point of this post is this- is there any older, wiser members who can give good advice to the younger one's about how to act and talk on here?
without getting into heated arguements or anything. I just want a way for us all to use this site in harmony- after all it does say built for the vampire community when you log in, and i think some people should remember that younger people, more and more, are comming to our community.

age is not important is it, i mean there was no not of any age restiction.

what does it matter how old they are.

This has been posted many times.I am going to put my two cents in cuz it's annoying,point blank younger people in general are going to get on here deal with it...if you don't want to talk to them then don't...if you think they say something inappropriate then talk to them,quit bitchin on here about it.Many of them just want to learn more and find out about themselves.At least they're on here trying to learn and not on some damn porn site or out doing something they're CLEARLY aren't suppose to be doing.
Let it be known i have no problem with the younger people that have talked to me and they have thanked me for speaking to them.
Some of you act like older siblings.....damn ridiculous!!!!!!!!

As for my opinion, I hated it when someone would say I wasn't old enough to comprehend such things of 'adult talk'. I can only imagine how those 'underage' feel now, in today's society. Trust me, young or older, we all have our moments of 'immature' remarks and thoughts.

For the most part, I agree that there really shouldn't be an age limit...you are as mature as you carry on to be and I'll leave it at that.

If you are capable of comprehending what is spoken about here and the information that is given here and handle yourself accordingly in a debate without resorting to getting spiteful and silly because you don't understand the witty remark made by a more experienced member of VR then all should be well....YAY!!!...

We all live and learn and as long as people's posts and especially profile quotes...(some really annoy me...sorry) reflect that then ...hey why not have whoever can handle things here stay here??

For those children who think they like Vamps etc but are actually trying to rebel against Mummy and Daddy...well they will get bored when they realise they really can't handle themselves here and leave....and we shall point and laugh until they do....~giggles~

hmmm you crowgirl are one of the poster children of how younger members ought to act...the unfortumate aspect....is a large majority are fools.....but that is not necessarily only amongst the younger members....and just to point out to the forum nazi's....of which I usually am one...
the reason this has come up again is there are a lot of new very young users...
I agree with crows thoughts that some people ought to try to be a mentor instead of an overbearing parent....
but the younger users also need to listen for this to be effective.....I personally have a few of our youth under my wing so to speak....and none of them has caused problems here as far as I know....
but maybe I'm just a good judge of character to beging with...

Have to go with the majority on this one. Age is meaningless here. I've yet to come across anyone on VR whom I would judge simply by their age. All should be equally welcome. It adds a nice mix of views. If there are some who misuse or are too immature for this site, I'm sure they will be dealt with seperately.

I think part of the issueis from the fact that when this started the average age of members was 18+....there was much intellectual discussion...debate....and it was rarely rude....and as the average age has gone down there has been much lower levels of creative discusison and more movie/band/favorite color type threads.....which i hate to say do tend to be more of a younger mentality....
it is a sterotype yes.....but stereotypes come into existence because there are facts to support them.....
currently by the poll that was done...average age in here is closer to15-16 now

i have made some good friends here on VR and some of them are young. while i think everyone should be welcome i also feel that when they (those young ones) get can get 'too sexy' for us over 21 as far as our humanistic paradigms and laws are concerned. -sometimes its down right soft-porn.

The younger generation should be allowed on this site, just set up tighter restrictions for those under a certain age. I also agree with what someone said, just because you are younger doesn't mean you aren't mature. I have met some of the young ones and they are more mature than some of the older ones, and vice versa. So it is a touchy subject and there is no right or wrong way to deal with it.

It basically boils down to how mature they act not how old they are and also, the older ones should set good examples for the younger ones.

i just read Strategella's thread *Underage Members* - that got RIPed and i feel that thread is legitiment and im feel'n her cuz there have been many times ive been biten by lustful intentions and to bite back, respond or even play around is just too creepy;grimy like for me to feel this site is bug free. although i like being a member -this remains problematic!

Speaking for the 21+ group, I'm sure there are some types of subject matter that more malliable minds might be confused by. I think the best solution, as said by several "mentor" types, is to act as guides. Remember, it never hurts to explain (unless you're a self-important, impatient poof). The best and most responsible thing to do when welcoming others in is to provide grounds for safety. Kids will hear things here as much as somewhere else, but we can make sure that they don't hurt themselves with the knowledge they receive. Sex is everywhere. No hiding that. But things involved with blood or sharp instruments or bondage equipment. Now there's something we can talk about involving safety!

i have found that its not the younger group but the adults that need reminding that there are younger members on here, were adults an should act as such, by keepin in mind that there childrin we as adults should be mature enough to handle the young ones. my experince on here is that some of the young ones are more mature than the adults an visa versa

The age of consent is a little different in America than what it is the United Kingdom.

Here on VR, Cancer has made it clear on the sign-up page that children below the age of 13 are not allowed to become a member of the site. I hope that clarifies things a little better for you :)

If there are any children here below that age then parents should be doing their job a little better. I think that everyone on here regardless of their age, race or creed, shown be shown curtesy and respect for who and what they are.

While a lot of underage kids can be annoying and no offense to anyone here (I"m 18 and can be annoying myself), there was no age req. when I signed up for this site so why start one now when 10-30 new people sign up for this site daily?

It's not like your computer automatically inputs how old you are. It's to the descreation of the user!
Geeze I was 13 and I used to click buttons that said 18 or older!
Basically put the only thing cancer CAN do is put a POSTING up on the main page that states the content of this website is intended for 18+.
Even so how is he to enforce it?
It's up to parents to have the restrictions on the childrens computers, not up to cancer and not up to us Mods!
If anyone is acting inappropriately bring it to our attention either post us the forum link or copy the pm to us (us as in us MODS, no need to bother cancer with this stuff, we can bring it to him if it's really bad)
Either way it's something we will ALL have to deal with!

Older doesn't make you more mature and younger doesn't make you the less... Everyone on here should abide by the same rules of curtesy and respect for others on here..
