Now hopefully this subject won't be too off course. Vampires are typically seen in the Hollywood and likewise eye as immoral creatures. I was just sitting here wondering what the overall view on morals is here on VR. What do you consider morals. Do you think a vampiric trait is immorality?
hmm.
i'd say that vampires would probably adhere to a different code of morality than most humans, i mean...a being that needed to feed on human life, wouldnt be likely to consider "killing humans" to be immoral...
I imagine that if we tried to hold vampires to typical human moral standards, they'd be considered immoral
But in my mind, the vampire community would have its own set of moral standards to live up to...and which it would be right to hold them to, so based on that, you could determine moral vs immoral vampires on a case by case basis.
of course..i dont feel that we can even pick a standard set of moral guidelines to hold humans too...seem to be very different opinions on the matter. i know that i've got a set of guidelines that i follow that differ from other peoples....
but in general..i think that the differences between my morals, and those of a vampire, would be greater than the differences between mine and other humans...
ie. while humans quibble over the morality of taking a life..in terms of what counts as "life"..while vampires would probably not consider it an issue at all (since to do so would be self-destructive..)
If they are portrayed to be souless creature, do you think they are able to be moral?
I don't believe morality stems from the soul, it's a conscience choice made by every individual based on societies views on how one should conduct onesself. The level of morality is also based on the society in which you live.
With that said, I would have to agree that in a society of Vampires morality would be judged differently than it would be elsewhere.
Morallity is traditionally set based upon a society's views of right and wrong. What one group considers moral, may not be to another. There have been many cultures in the past in which the drinking of blood was considered a custom. I would say that a society of vampires could be considered both moral from their own beliefs and immoral from an outside perspective.
It's all a point of view.
morality......even tho vamps are classically portrayed as being immoral...I don't see it being a necessary thing to them.....
where does it say that a vamp must kill thier food....why kill something when letting it live will continue to produce more blood....and who's morality are we talking about here....cultures mostly tend to have different moralities based around their religious beliefs.......now i'm just randomly ranting
i think they can damn well do as they please.. but the immorality helps them seduce people into submission... hahahaha
In my opinion the individual states what's wrong and right, not society, so for me it is the same for the vampires.
hehe. but when you phrase it that way...it can't really be considered a moral decision..more of a practical matter.
rather like..not slaughtering a productive dairy cow
To a society of vampires we would be a dairy cow .... do we worry about the morality of slaughtering animals for our food.......... niether would they
i think that they might be immortal, i dont really know
i think vampires should be seductive... theres just something about them that makes them a sexual charecter....
theres the point I was trying to wrap my scattered mind around...
is it immoral to kill your food?
in plain and simple
Starved lover and proud fairhow starved is the lover, how proud the fair. Love felt as utterly despairing; is it any wonder that the Vampire lays with sensuous incubus?
Kill or be killed.......
If vegtables had legs they'd try and run the hell away too when you tried to eat them!!!!
Vampires are amoral sexual predators. The dark night, the sultrily suspired potency: the courtship followed by the bloody kisses followed by fatigued exhaustion at the end of the night. They are our wettest dreams.
A vampire does not have a concience.
~feels guilt for being a vegetarian~....
I can't win..I just can't win....~cries~
me and my friend dicuss this topic quite often, but not about vampires having moral or not but if we do. and we've decided we dont, but we do know how to act around people as if we do.
Morality everyone has it. Our charateristics is based on our morality. Regardless if you are human or a vampire. We have a mind and we use it for one thing or another but we use it. We are not mindless. This is were morality comes to play, we choose what is right or wrong. Kill or be killed. It's not immoral for a vampire to go out at night find a victim and drain them from their blood or energy. It's just like humans when they slaughter animals for food. Morality....not morality is in the eye of the beholder !!
well most ...not but neaw depinds of a lot of things like personality and others, evrybody acts in there s own way
morality depends of society, what I consider immoral as a human, a vampire may not even question the same thing!
I didn't think morality even applied to vampires at all. They live outside that entire world....besides....is not morality a human construct?
Morals fall into a different catagory, based on core beliefs not an opinion of ours, societys or the Vampyre Community as a whole. It all intertwines with respect, judgement, choices and living our lives..
Any creature , alive or dead , can have it's morals . If they match mine , they're not immoral ;)
