There are those in our world whose opinion of vampires can never broach beyond a certain point of view.
This is due to their edification at the hands of the schooling systems and societal heirarchies in which they have developed during childhood and further into adolescence via the ever present influence of the media through TV and hollywood, resulting in an eventual adult mind incapable of seeing beyond that limited spectrum of opinion and accepted bounds of reality in which they base their individual understanding of their paradigm of the universe.
I cannot fly, I have not lived for hundreds or thousands of years, though I may have lied on a poll or three about it, just for the sheer hell of it and the chance to amuse those like minds who actually find it funny.
I have no fangs, no canines at all even, I cannot see clearly in the dark, but interestingly, I can see ok with my eyes closed. I cant turn into a wolf or bat or mist or anything other than a different version of me, which is a neat enough trick in itself.
Similarly, I have to drink water and I eat food that everyone else eats, but I haven't tried starving myself to see if I can live without it yet. There is no way that I would run around at night hunting young virgins and I like garlic to be in my food that I would cook these sweet ladies. So whats with the crucifix? I dont really hold a place in my mind for them, but it's not like I run away. And sunlight, I do get awful sunburn after about an hour anywhere south of where I live, but I am fair skinned and almost always forget my sunblock.
SO, whats the bloody point of this ramble I sense you to be thinking...
Despite all of these things, I beleive that the core concept of vampirism still exists and is a valid dichotomy of life.
Other then the spelling errors .. quite amusing indeed *claps* And you can cook for me any time .... Oh and the human body can go for days on very little nurishment as long as you supply it with water and sugars ;)

Wow, how'd you avoid a run-on sentence with that? Well thought-out, very thorough.
hmmm i'd say this is a much needed commentary....too often in the forums ppl talk like we are all hollywood vamps..
well most people in here pretend to be ''HollyWood vampys''
so you drink blood. and no one believes your a vampire. drink blood in front of them, problem solved.
just because you drink blood doesn't mean you're a ''vampire''
traditional ''werewolves drink blood too''
Mosquitos and leeches both drink blood, and rely on it for their survival. I don't quite consider them vampires either though.
I don't get the point of the ramble. is thou mad because people don't think your a vampire. I wonder what thats like
no matter how much we want it to be true vampires do not exist sadly but there still can be people acting and pretending and posing..
and again...HOLLYWOOD vampires don't exist.....but this is all dependant on what you definition of a vampire is......not what the dictionary term is...that changes almost every year....dictionaries are funny that way
This a very intereting subject Stabb. I must say that if drinking blood and having fair skin make you a vampire, then I have one of those qualities. I do not understand people sometimes. They watch all of these Hollywood portrayls of vampires and they are like,"Oh my god that is soo romantic and sexy. I want to be one" But from my understanding, from what I have read at least, vampires were anything but those things.
They were horrible to look at and viciously brutal with the way they got the blood. Who wants to be like that? Some think I am one because I am very fair and have killer reflexes, but I have been fair all of my life, and my relflexes only improved after I had my son. So am I a vampire you ask? No I do not think that I am. A spiritual being yes but vampire, sadly, no
Hello Nicnivian, a pleasure to meet you at last and to be able to amuse you somewhat!
I would certainly relish the opportunity to someday create a masterpiece of culinary delight with which I may satisfy your appetite.
Spelling, smelling...it was hierarchies...damn...I thought it looked odd...and believe...OMG...whats up with my eyes...maybe it's all those E's...
A question though, if I may- Would I need to add vitamins to the sugary water if I were to go ahead with my...experiement?
Thank you Daermon, I value your opionion and agree wholeheartedly...
And another thing...lol...I am not entirely certain whether I am a 'vampire' (gosh, still sounds ridiculous to me), but I am beginning to pull together various concepts that fit with my 'symptoms' and the current state of my chi, so I reserve judgement on yes or no and say that I could be.
I agree this is a subject the media has blinded most people on. Personally I love fantasy and vampires in fantasy are my favorite type of characters. Almost every culture has their own form of vampire. The word vampire has been spelled and defined differently numerous times. I think that in it's self has caused lot's of confusion. There are groups of people classified as vampires by journalist just because of the simple fact they drink blood. It is nearly impossible to prove what a vampire is or if they exsist or exsisted. But realistically I think there is truth in theology. You have God and angels then you have the devil and demons. In truth perhaps a vampire is nothing more than some form of demon. And that is exactly what most cultures believed. In the media a vampire is a romantic fantasy which sells.
The tragic irony is that even on a forum dedicated to the Vampire, we still have members who do not accept the definitions.
Thank you STABB666 for taking a "stab" at it. At least you tried.
Its good to see you understand a lot about the Condition already Stabb. I hope the information I had help provide and with that, the site was a big help as well. If you need a Mentor Stabb, I'm more then happy to be one for you.

Hi ElderDaniel,
I tried avoid defining what a 'vampire' actually is and instead, attempted to cut away some of the chaff on what a vampire is not, although, I admit, I am a complete novice in this area, for my real investigations only began two months ago, so I am rather pleased with my 'stab' in the dark...lol
Hey scionofrequiem,
Yes, your words were a welcome relief for me and I thank you from my heart for the advice and assistance.
I hope that we may talk soon.

The true vampire lies within.
those you define as 'Hollywood vampires' are posers, humans beings attracted to darkness.
when darkness is within your soul, no pretending necessary.
I am very pleased with your take on it as well. I hope you did not think otherwise. I don't think it was a stab in the dark at all.
Rather, I am disappointed in those who just dismiss vampirism as folklore and hollywood nonsense.
It is a condition, it is real, and those with the condition need advice and help wherever they can find it. These folks are not posers, or freaks, or melodramatic goths. It is because of those uneducated presumptions that people with the condition must hide what they are.
Its good to know there are more on this site that see the same thing and understand what it means to be of the Condition. Education is the only way to combat the uneducated and the stupidness that revolves around the world.

I take no offense for I respect the opinion of all of you and flattery this is not.
Irespect everyone of you alls opions, but I beleve that at one point in time, there was vampires, I just think they need a chance to come back, I mean there is people who say there vampires that drink others blood, that says itis good, anddoes not go out in daylight, there is just a whole lot more than that, but please I respect all ya'lls opions.
People that don't know about a subject tend to only believe what they see in movies or on TV. They lack any knowledge about actual vampires or doubt that they even exists.
Ah, the closed minds. Such a pity.
Drinking beer doesn't make you Irish, just as much as drinking blood doesn't make you a vampire. Do you believe in angels? Ghosts? Many believe them to be true. Many don't, just because they've never seen one. Well just because you've never seen a million dollars, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
How much Italian is in your blood? Indian? German? Russian? Alot? A little? None at all? Well, bloodlines have thinned, so not everyone is a full-blooded anything anymore. Some traits are passed on, others are not. Vampires are not as rare as you think. The full-blooded ones would be, just as much as you and I.
Anything you believe in is possible, otherwise it couldn't possibly be a thought.
I believe a lot of us believe we share the dark gift, but in reality, i dont know if we are deliousal or wishing
As an update, there are several thoughts which I did not express in the first post, as I wished to see the reaction first.
This is my current understanding of what it means to be a vampyre.
I see this as a flaw in the flow of the energy throughout my body, as though there is a drain which runs down into the ground and my chi is continually sucked into this place.
The only way in which I can re-energise myself is either by munching my way through excessive amounts of food (which I metabolise very quickly and fails to satisfy) or through the absorbtion of energy from living beings around me.
This second method has been taking place unconsciously for several years, but upon Becoming (not to be confused with Awakening), I realised that this was occuring and in so doing cut myself off from these immoral feeds (to my mind).
This resulted in my body retaliating viciously and virtually collapsing upon me.
I have since been understanding what it is that I have been doing, turned to this feeding only twice and I can measure the difference significantly.
I can dance for hours without pain when I feed salubriously from a crowd, but upon returning home to rest, the pains begin again so quickly.
There are those that feel that blood is a neccessity for vampirism, but although I do feel an attraction to it, it is sexually related and I have yet to let blood for this purpose specifically.
I do however, enjoy biting without blood being drawn, more like scraping across the shoulder and rear of the neck and especially the earlobes.
These things I associate more with tantric connections and I have recently undertaken a...ritual, with another that has shown me and them, another side to sex that requires very little in terms of stimulation of the classic organs.
The reason I post this is to shine a small light upon the path that I seem to be following in the hope that there are others whose lack of education has blinded them, may take notice and begin to think beyond the defined walls of their understanding and in so doing, enjoy the pleasures that reach far beyond mere orgasmic delight.
Peace be to you all and may the stars bring forth good fortune for all of us in this state.

i am what i am and the quicker people open their minds the quicker people can accept!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are over 50 real vampires living in just the U.S. These people have physical or mental addictions to it like a cigarette and some do actually need blood for nourishment. I doubt anyone here is one of these people. Vamps have become a symbol for the outsider and many people like to dress up and go play blood drinker.
Sorry limiting a number to a central area and not taking in consideration that, hey, there are a lot more then just those 50. Unless your talking about the houses, then those don't really count, seeing they too, use normal people who end up falling into the goth trend as a means to keep themselves hidden.
I personally, wear jeans and a white t shirt and sandels, I don't dress goth, I don't act the outsider also, I do Suffer from the Condition, once you know what it is, how it affects you, then there is no doubt of what you really are, and how much reality sucks when you realize, HEY, reality hides something that is known as truth.
