Can we as a people come together, or will our egos get in the way and Crash us?

I think it can be done. But a few others will always have differences with how the nation is run/ works. One thing that needs to be clear, the dark gift is different for each of us. Diversity is a good thing.
Our kind needs to work together, to better ourselves and to teach others how to cope with their condition.

Look I just want the admins to know this has nothing to do with the past few week My word I truely want to know cause there is so much conflict in our subculture
that we need to come together we are to small in numbers to fight amongist our selves...I just want to know if I am the only one who feel's that way..

I quite agree-there are enough problems in the world and within our community. We all need to stop bickering and try to make things better for us all.

Peace among us is very hard to obtain but i know if we could all have some kind of patience and compromise we could come together as a single coherent group. we do not need a leader for this but we do need a place we know that we could go to and be in peace(thats why i love the rave so much)

I enjoy speaking with other houses as well however i never forget the Caitiffs in our community, I once had no place to call home like they do. So i never forget them for all they really want is a place to call home with people who are like them

I agree that we are lacking a sense of unity, and that conflicts sadly are what keep some of our brothers and sisters going. That should not be the way in which we function but that could also be taken as a matter of opinion.

Whether or not this sense of unity you speak of may ever take place soley depends upon the decisions of our kind to one another. I suppose I leave that to a question mark as it will answer itself in time.

Arrogance is the wonderful essence of the Vampire/Vampyre. However, I believe that we can all serve a common purpose. I also beleive we should be able to live in peace, and I also beleive it can be done, as long as everyone is willing the peace can be kept, i will stand up for the vampire nation and beleive that anyone else who does, we can show them, together. Like it was meant to be.

It is inevitable that people will seek out the like minded. The complications arise when we discover that we aren't as similar as we had imagined.

I am deathly affraid of not being useful, some of us old soldiers. All we know is one thing being protectors, no heros, or great warriors, we're just soldiers. other than that I am just a relic of history.

Lord Ryu, with respect I think this is an ideal if the way of the many can walk the path of one. That is what faith is about. However, human nature shows us this doesn't always work so what do you do then?

I think as well, you would have to be open to those of your kin who have not yet awakened and seek to do so, that need support and help in their 'journey'.

The first thing I must say before I launch into this, is that the term 'Caitiff', or 'Exile' or any other such term is hardly appropriate any longer, it is a fictionalised and oft derogatory term for those that are not fortunate enough to have the support network which a 'house' provides.

Simply because we are not of a house does not delegitimise our being and so, if we are to truly come together as a 'nation', it is the respect for the individual which must be upheld above anything else.

We are Diaspora, that is the nature of our circumstance, so we should look upon each an every one of us as our own 'state of being' and once we have established our understanding of ourselves, we can then make the informed choices to join with others and form larger 'clans', whose individuals have similar ideals and life choices.

The problems come two-fold in the main. Power rivalries within groups are indeed due to ego and the formalised heirarchy of many houses does serve to create feelings of covetousness and disenfranchisement.

How does one accept their position and feel satisfied with their lot and the direction in which they are being led in such strict organisations?

Is it due to respect?

How is this respect earned?

Is it through awe or love or fear?

I would prefer to hold someone in respect for the honesty of opinion and edification that I receive from their words which may bring me closer to the awareness of myself and those around me and how I may interact with them and understand the resultant effects of my words and actions upon others.

The second problem comes when those groups or individuals reach out to other communities and test the boundries and precepts of their 'faith' in the general teachings- Who's way is the right way?

This is the crux of the matter in which wars have been raging since the beginning of civilisation...The 'My house is better than your house' or 'My teacher knows more than your teacher' attitude creates the divisions and so, a mutual respect for others' choice of lifestyle and acceptance of the condition are needed...but this is nigh impossible in the current state of the world at large and also, I suspect due to past histories of battles between houses.

If our community was to solve the problems of interfighting and such, it would also probably be an ideal socialogical model for the rest of the world to work to...for if the SV can live together in peace, then anyone should be capable of it.

This is a mighty task that you set Lord Ryu and I would gladly lend my mind and arm to it.

I think what we do need is to have respect for one another's opinion and lifestyles... if we do tend to clash, we need not argue or debate on which is better or who is more knowledgeable in such matters... what works for one cannot actually work for another...

I too will not join any 'houses' or such... I believe we could all possibly get along with a little extra understanding and a little bit of respect for one another... we need not be controversial to prove a point.. we could just let the facts present themselves to whomever is thinking and then let them decide for themselves.. we just got to 'bond' in a way that we all know we share the same condition and that we all are similar in a sense...

What seems to be the actual reality is that a lot of people think leading a group, some kind of group, will give them more credibility. I've seen soooo many groups rise (and fall) with the organizers forming, putting out a call for unity, and disappearing or fading into the background sometime after.

How can it promote unity when more groups keep forming, and are being splintered all over cyberspace?

I don't believe that anyone here has stated that 'We must unite' sphynxcatvp, but that it would be nice if we could all stop hating and fighting and perhaps start to help one another...I know how hard it is to be without support, so perhaps the purpose would be to bring help to those of us in need of it.

And again, I think the focus is on repecting one another as individuals, with individual choices as to whether we wish to be a part of something larger or not.

It does not mean that we all have to be part of some super masssive clan run by the strongest or smartest, but that we recognise that each and every one can be a part of a whole way of thinking that can serve to enlighten our minds to the wealth of possibilities that are out there.

No matter how hard we try we will never see the end of personal wars within the community. Reason why? Easy, we all think to much, we are different from each other, want things ran differently, we teach different ideas, we learn in different mean, we are placed in different catagories of rank, and because of all of this, we will never see the end of such fights. The only way to stop this is by becoming a single mind and, like a pack of rats or what not, we become assimilated to one thought pattern and cannot disconnect from it. In which case, we no longer are a single person, but in mind, a single consious thought. In which, we loose all identity and being of who we are and what we have become.

I personally think it will always be divided...least in the way of vampires. There are too many groups,orgs,and most importantly ego's that will always interfere with us becoming one. Basically the vampire community is best left as an open relationship as we'll never be able to participate in marriage.

The small group I have in my area would be willing to support your cause for joining several small groups together... but we don't want any extra rules or regulations brought upon us.

Each house has there own codes of conduct that is how it has always ben but we need to work at away to see each other as family cause we all share one thing..We are vampyric and that should be the thing that binds us

when i say unite i do not mean to do a certain purpose what i mean by uniting is that all of our clans should have peace between eachother enough that we can be recognized as a nation. no single land in any nation is the same as the one next to it, but they all found a way to get together. I wish for peace to the point that we are not fearing eachother or the truths of our races. no matter what happens, I will ride as one of the Sons of Shakoni, whether we can become a nation or not. And i am not saying we need leaders and certain roles thats where everything falls. labeling someone something is not what we need we just need to come together nothing more.

Well..its a lovley idea, but unrealistic. We cant get alone or come together. Its not in our nature. In history people have never come together. Our egos and emoutions will always get in the way.Take thoughs away and u may achieve wut u wish. Conflict is part of our lives weither we like it or not.
