The ancients have mentioned about 'the three worlds' that we live in throughout history. I was wondering if it is possible to add this concept to the Vampire Rave site? I know nil about web design but I am interested in someone's views.
The three worlds are: earth physicial plane, spritual plane and a third somewhere between the two. It is this later that I wish to add if possible.
The subject came to me when I or others start a new thread. We are given a field to type in with very small type/font. And when I/we hit the 'post' bottom, all of a sudden it becomes billboard size with any type-pos and bad links included.
So, I was wondering if it would be possible to have some type of middle ground to test (in true size/fonts/pics) our posts before they are made public?
Basically being able to preview a post prior to actually posting it.
Not a bad idea at all really.
I think its a great idea. Like you said, once you have posted your comment/thread its to late to change any mistakes you may have made.
Another idea is to give users the option to edit posts/threads. So if they read it through and information is wrong or they have typos they can correct it without any problems.
Good thread and good ideas you have,
Thanks. I have made many oops in front of people before. But VR sees over 5000 visitors a day. A new record for silly me. :)
Cancer's already stated before that users will not have the ability to edit posts, it could cause too much chaos on the threads, IE conversations that would be fragmented and not make sense, etc.
But, I still think the preview option is a good idea.
It is a very good idea. But I do agree, it would cause to much conflict.
i do think its a good idea. for the time being you still have the chance to spell check yourself (re read it) before you post it ;)
Still, I have to say that I agree wholeheartedly with the possible option of previewing what you post here.
Good idea and it means that you may not be just posting to get up your status bacaise I don't see how anyone that does that would care becasue it gives them anoter reason to post. I do think thats a good idea. some of my time is spent making sure I don't make a mistake and sometimes I still do
It is not a bad idea, but don't you think that would make it too easy. I have seen forums that would let you see what you type before you post it, but never seen one with a spell check.
Spell check should be client-side, not server-side. I will never waste VR resources on spell check for members... It should be done on the member machine.
There are many spell check browser plug-ins available. A very good one is at:
http://www.iespell.com
A simple download and you can check spelling within your browser forms before submitting. It also has a user dictionary for adding words.
There's never an excuse to be a poor computer user.
Was not looking for just a spell check but, a way to see what the post looks like once posted. Things are different in 'real post.'
Different in "real post?" Spelling is spelling. The spelling doesn't get any better after you hit the "post" button. I've seen very few forum settings where you can preview a post.
This thread is turning into a wishlist. Which means the undertaker is coming soon, unless we get some productive stuff going. :-)
I think Cancer has more important things to do than worry with stuff like this.
No, I know what Billy is talking about. I've seen it done before. Not spell check, but message formatting.
You get a confirmation screen prior to the post going live. It shows how the message will look *exactly* (including any linked pictures, colors, etc).
This is something I've considered, but I knew that if I implemented it people would start hammering again for a spell check function, lol.
well it sounds good to me as well but like cancer said dont need a spell check basically person needs to take there time before posting a thread lol
if you need a spell check keep a Dictionary near by. as for seeing a post..who really needs to after its been put out..like life ,you cant take it back
spell check is good .....but thats what school is for lol
you lost me when you started to relate this to vr.......lol
yes i agree i do not see where this had to do with vr just that some may have typeo but who doesnt right
I believe that it is possible that there is a 3rd world but I kinda got lost when the whole "spellcheck" thing got in the way. So what if you can't spell.
i think if you dont have a good handle on html, you shouldn't use the forum to try it out... practice makes perfect, however this isn't the place for it, and as far as spell checking.. everyone makes mistakes.. that's what being hunman is all about... but you can always use your own browser to do that before posting... there isn't a need for that here. Besides.. some typos are just plain hilarious. :) However, there is nothing funny about broken code :|
OK so i was ranting about spell check, and managed to mispell human* above. Just clarifying :)
Thanks for letting me rant on. It was just a thought, maybe I'll just be a little more careful typing at three in the morning.
Cancer and others got the idea that I was trying to convey. 'nuf said.
And a dictionary is always at my desk.
Although I do agree, typos are sometimes funny.
