This is brought to you by your neighborhood Dominar (that's 'Forum Guardian', for those wanting to be in the know.)
Please take this time to go here and read over the rules of posting:
Over here.
Also look over as to why certain things happen to -your- forums:
Right here.
Please also remember that the use of rude language and slang is frowned upon by not only Dominars but Admins as well.
We are a rather open-minded site when it comes to age, and would like to keep it that way for informational purposes.
Keep your posts in the respected thread sections (Sandbox, Mascara, Events, General), and remember to respect those on the site with power and privilege.
Do -not- under -any- circumstances annoy, denounce, speak rudely to, or attack (with or without the help of your friends here on VR), ANYONE. This includes petty fights in forums, the vamp box, etc.
Some of us tend to be rather forgiving in some instances, and offer advice and help where we can, but please treat us with the respect -you- in turn feel you deserve.
You have been warned.
~Nara
Yes, I see many fights in the vamp box and rudeness in the forums, but I never thought it wasn't allowed. I thought everyone was allowed to there beliefs.
Thank you for the friendly reminder, one I hope ppl will take seriously.
Our pleasure as always.
--And of course thank you Batchyld for the second voice as well.
Rememember: If we were not in place, this place would be in even -more- chaos. We're here in essance to help things go more smoothly for Cancer most of all.
Enjoy yourselves, respect others, and ask questions via PMs if you do not understand something and wish to talk more indepth. It's much easier than 'hello? Is this thing ON?' in a thread.
Thanks for the reminders, they ARE needed from time to time. Some of us tend to foget things when we get wrapped up, or engrossed if you will, in something we feel strongly about.
The forums and Vampbox are a privillage that I know I, for one, would hate to loose.
I thank you for the reminders.
Thank you so much for stating what should be the obvious and common courtesy and rules.....hopefully more will abide by them :)
i am not really sure if i have been disrespectful or rude to anyone but if i have i am sorry from the black core of my heart .. if i have i apologize ..if i haven't i guess that means i don't have to feel bad..
I find that it's a shame that you would have to state the obvious, but I guess once in a while it's needed for the new people as a reminder as to what this is all about.
Thanks for taking the time on something as trivial as re-stating the rules and common sense. However this triviality can blow up into something not so trivial.
:D
you wouldnt think that a sight like this where everyone with similar beliefs or feelings come together to meet each other that there would be so much trouble. Its terrible when people fight or post rude comments about each other here. If u dont like someone simply block them and go about ur business as there are thousands of other people here u can get along with. :) Smile and have a beautiful day!!!
I concur and try to watch my language on the posts when I do reply to them but others should as well take the "warning " in mind
Thanks.
Hope this thread will be read and not forgotten.
Freedom of speech is allowed here but not disrespect.
What the majority can't understand is the difference between: speaking your mind and be offensive.
If anyone is mature enough they are able to speak out their mind without being offensive.
Infact we have a place for rants and write whatever we want. That place is called Journal. It's not exactly it's purpose but there you are free to write whatever you want. Therefore rants and rude language can be put freely there, only.
A bit of devils advocate here....
"Respect is essential if you want it you have to give it. Do not give staff a hard time when they are doing their duties under their given titles."
Normally I agree...under MOST..not all situations...even staff can take things too far or get overzealous..we are ALL falible.
"To give them a hard time for doing their job is in essence saying you don't respect Cancer or his choices or those people."
I agree again in MOST aspects.... I however have publically called more than one dominar on possible abuse of power and privelidge....I did get in trouble over it...but I had valid reasoning at the time, and therefore I refused to back down on the topic....99.9% of the time the reasoning of the dominars is totally valid...
this is NOT 100%
Who polices the police was my reasoning, for the Dominars are effectively like police...keeping the peace, enforcing the rules....but if a person feels power has been abused....what is wrong with asking about it...I was told to keep my issues to PM..but I see the potential for the abuse of power as a public matter...not a private one...
so I don't feel questioning about it disrespects cancer in any way whatsoever, He does not claim to perfection, and people do change...not everyone who is a good person stays that way once they have power...all it takes is a bad mood to make a few bad choices and you can potentially abuse power...
just a note...the situation I was referring to was long ago and resolved itself eventually....
I am in no way saying that there is current abuse of power..just that it IS possible...so saying that questioning dominars is disrespecting cancer is somewhat short sighted...
my .02$
hehe thanks NARA....
I was just making very clear that questioning a dominar is not disrepecting cancer...
it's a sore spot for me as I got in repeated trouble for it previously...
I agree that almost all cases are valid....
but everyone will someday make a questionable choice on closure....everyone.
and on that day people should not be scared to call them on it....
that and you know I love playing devils advocate.....someone has to
Have I told you lately that I love you, Nara? Shall I add you to that list, Batchyld? =)
=)
Yes, if any of you feel the need to question why your thread was RIA'd, RIP'd, deleted, moved, etc., then ask.
But ask politely, or failing that, don't be an ass about it. Simpy say, "Why was my thread (BLAH)?"
I'll give you my reasoning, polite, concise, and thorough.
If you're rude about it, two things could happen (if it's me).
A) I'll ignore you. Completely. Asisnine behaviour garners dust.
-or-
B) I'll explain why I did whatever to your thread I did, but you won't like it. I may even send you to the dictionary. I will quite probably make fun of you in my journal. Rudeness garners finger pointing.
*shrug*
=)
Love, TLH.
a thank you for the much needed reminder from me as well..
Mutual respect for eachothers strengths and weaknesses is neccesary for a community to work..I whish more people could see that.
Req add me to that list hehe.....
Daermon nothing wrong with questioning why a dominar did something, so much as how it is done or presented to the dominar when questioning why a thread was closed. moved or deleted etc.
Respect is a two way street if someone has an issue with something a dominar did then go nicely and respectfully and ask. If you don't give respect or act with some common sense or adult like behavior... well then as Req said you either get a cold shoulder or the same back at you behavior wise. Remember it takes 2 to tango..
It can be done the nice sweet... respectful way or the hardcore... rough way. Choice honestly is said persons issue.
Just be able to accept what lands at your doorstep when and if the dominar does reply. That 1st message asking why threads were handled is the predetermining cause and flow/feeling of how it is replied to.
Love you Req. and Nara you guys do a great job as does the other Dominars. :)
Should I make MY version of this?
Guys, please follow the guidelines, make a forum post that's SENSIBLE and WORTH bothering with!
You mean I can't be obnoxious in a silly way?
This su...um, blo..um..
Well, dang.
ya i completly agree, were adults lets handle ourselfs that way. save everyone alot of headache.
yes, i also agree. it is ok to state your point of view, but in a nice, none offensive way to others. don't say that just because someone isn't into something you are then they're any lesser person than you are. there is no standart in this world. it is all a matter of oppinion.
Good reminder, sad that people who are supposed to be able to think for themselves have to be but they do so this is great
my advise, dont ask. last time i did ask, i got cornered by 3 dominars and 2 admins and have been told, they are never wrong. I learned my lesson. And people who know me, know im always polite and not rude.
kat,
You and I both know that your statement is a little exaggerated. No-one ever claimed we are never wrong, unless it was in a joking manner.
And frankly, I'm offended that you feel that you were 'cornered', especially in light of the conversation we had during and after the incident which you refer to.
I know find myself questioning why you would seek to address this matter again, since you told me it was put to bed already.
I apologize to every dominar and admin for my post *kisses boots* that i dared to speak my mind and to voice my opinion.
i think we better take this into privat if you want to discuss this any further, as per forum rules, this isnt anything that should be discussed in the open :)
...And of course you say this after you brought it up in my forum.
Seeing as I don't know the gravity of the situation (Stabb, please forward me the info as you offered earlier so at least I know what went on), I feel it was a tad bit rude to conjure it up on an etiquette refresher thread. Tacky I think is a good word for it.
Sadly to keep this twittering from happening again, I am closing the thread.
