Was wondering, if there is a local grave near you that may be haunted. And if So what is the story behind it? This can even refer to areas like houses school ect ect not just graveyards.

we have a Mansion in my town that Is said to be haunted I think Indians were merdered there.

There is a bunch of tunnels and an Opium den in it too.

theres a disused mental hospital thats very spooky and a woodland graveyard also spooky

I`m in florida. There are very many local haunts, but there are lighthouses north of me and some possibably haunted buildings.

there are rail roads about twelve miles from my house and the story is that there was a school bus of kindergardeners that got stuck on the rails and got hit by a train... me and a few friends took my car and parked on the rails and put baby powder on the rear bumper and sat there for about 10 min... then the car started to move (the car was in park and engian off).... when the car stopped (the car was off the rails at this moment) there were little hand prints all over the bumper.... and they where prints of little children and tehre was no one around... no one else was near the area and no one came around the car.... the children pushed us to safety...... thats the story of my town....

there is a B & B in Fort Duffield KY that dates back to the Civil War. It was used a hospital for the wounded from the battle. The owners will not stay in the house, they built a cottage behind it. They say that the ghosts move the furniture, can be heard walking and even the occasional gun fire. I did stay over a weekend but was very sick and on meds....so if they moved anything I never knew it. However, there was an eerie feel to the house in general.

There's a historical society downtown that's rumored to me haunted. But I don't really know much about it..

Near me in Los Angeles, there is Forest Lawn which many Hollywood legends and other prominent people are buried, and have been many sightings for the past 100 years there.

Sherry Cemetery is the creepiest place I've ever personally been to. All kinds of creepy things have happened there.

The Country Kitchen Restaurant where I work is also haunted. I have personally seen and heard 2 seperate ghosts on many occassions. But the stories would take too long to put on here. Maybe I will put them in my journal.

We have an old haunted hospital here called Waverly hills, supposedly the old patients and staff there haunt it. I think there is a website on it...

The Woman in Black is probably the most famous ghost here and lives at the Custom House built in 1860. Rumours are that she was a woman who arrived on one of the immigrant ships and died in port, subsequently being buried on the grounds of the Custom House.
We (the city) actually communicate with her regarding changes (it's a historical site) to paint (she didn't like a color and kept dumping the pain out until we found a color that she liked) to moving of furniture around the way she likes it. It's actually documented!!! In fact some of the older people say "Mind the Lady" when renovations have to be done!!!

We have a lighthouse in New London,CT that is haunted. Story goes that the lighte house keeper foudn his wife with another man, so he commited suicide. I also know somegraveyards that are filled with powerful energies down here

in a city close by there is a library haunted by what is known as the Lady in Grey (also called the Grey Lady). they have cameras in the library at all times to try and catch the ghost doing something. you can veiw the tapes on their website (unfortunately, i don't know what the web address is. sorry!). and i don't know if you've ever seen the tv show Ghost Hunters, but they actually came to the library once.

i live in an old mining town in colorado. there are several ghosts in the near area. there were several mine collapses and about 1200 people were killed there alltogether, most of them during a fire in the early 1900s. my house survived this fire. i have had experiences of seeing lights, much different than what are usually captured on film. I have heard small voices in older mine shafts. but alas, nothing proveable.

There is a cemetery in Blackwell Missouri... I actually think it is called Blackwell cemetery, its off hwy B.. its got a lot of Masonic looking symbols on several of the larger and older head stones. Also, it seems like this place had a massive decade of infant and small child deaths, just to walk around and notice how many there are over certain spans of years. mainly in the 40's and 50s . But there are newer ones as well. On to the haunting though, I have been in many many cemeteries, from Alton, IL to some of the civil war cemeteries when i was a kid, but this one creeps me out big time. When you stand on the grounds its like you can feel some one realllly watching you, I mean almost physically. Id like to drive down there one day and see if i could get in touch with the local history buffs and find out what’s up with the massive creeps and see if there are any in-depth tragedies that went on there. There is also the Lamp Mansion…. Its like a tourist attraction in st Louis. Defiantly haunted, but there are a lot of live energies there too, kinda messies up the feel of the haunting, But its got great food, has a Halloween ball (fancy types go) and it is haunted in the cellars.. The whole Lemp family was kind of insane and there were I think 3 suicides. They made baby carriages. I have a few more places ive been that I Think are haunted. But there’s no real telling there just weird places like Elephant rock, if its not haunted, its some kind of nexus or ley line. Anyone out there heard of elephant rock? Its also in Missouri.

I have not found any local hauntings but I did find an interesting one in St.Louis it is too big to put on the thread so I will post it in my journal.

I live in Myrtle Beach, SC and there are many stories to tell around here of haunted places. One almost everyone has heard is the story of Alice Flagg. She fell in love and became engaged to a young man that her family did not approve of. Her family forbid her to see him, so she wore the engagement ring around her neck. Hiding it under her dress. Alice was sent to college to go to school and she never forgot her true love.
Alice became sick with malaria and her brother rushed her back home. When she woke from her unconscious state she felt for the ring and it was gone. She asked her brother to give her back the ring and apparently he refused. She died the next morning. For more than 150 years, Alice has been seen roaming the halls and grounds of her home, the Hermitage, at Murrells Inlet, presumably in search of her ring. To this day, observers also say they've seen a young lady in a lovely white flowing dress walking beneath the live oak trees in the cemetery at All Saints Waccamaw Episcopal Church where Alice was buried. And whenever she is seen, she is always searching for something while holding her hand over her chest. It is believed that she comes back to search for her lost engagement ring.

The main church is meant to be haunted in my town by the people who have jumped from it, and the harbour where pilgrims going to america had there ship raided and lots were killed.

there are a few stories of my favourite graveyard. There is an entire area devoted to children, mostly killed during the flu epidemic of the 1940's/ At night you can hear them laughing, and the trees will rustle when there is no wind.

There is also a Bishop buried there, and when cars drive by at night you will see his form sitting the the base of the giant cross erected over his grave.

There isnt a graveyard near me, but i would love to live near one, the i would sneak out at night i just explore it :)

there was a cemetary in my home town that was supposed to be haunted. i used to take a shortcut through it when i was going home from my sisters place. one evening, as i was stepping over a grave, i suddenly felt unable to move, being dragged back. My cloak had got caught on a fallen branch! - scared me silly.

we have a couple one is peter's road it's a haunted railroad track and the other is ghost road very creepy and strange stuff there at night will post in my journal
