Okay, this is my second attempt at posting something here on the forum... With that said, here is the topic...

I have recently found that fellow members here on the rave do give you ratings lower than a 6. That's okay, I can handle criticism, but my question is;


How many others would like to know why those people give you belows a 6 and what it is that you should add/subtract/modify for your profile?

Does it matter to you as well, or is it just me?

we all have our own different opinoins and no it doesnt matter to me i always give everyone a 10 no matter what is on their profile

i think the same way, if someone does rate me low, then i would like to know why. but i think the reason why some ppl dont say they rated low because maybe u would down rate them as well.

But we shouldn't downrate them just because they downrate them. If I rate lower then a ten, I give a specific reason now. But I usually rate 10's because what I may not like, someone else might. Know what I mean?

People give different ratings based on what they think the profile is worth, or based on something silly, like "Hey, you said something I don't like so I'm giving you a 1" or something equally as craptastic.

Now, sometimes I'll run across a profile I've rated before and didn't give a 10, and I smack myself and re-rate.

I'm not here to make friends, but I'm not here to make it hard on someone who might actually care what people rate them and feel they have to work that much harder to get a better rate and get all stressed-out and frizzy-haired, either.

I rate fairly...If they havn't put any work into their profile (like 90% of the whelps) I give em a crappy rating!

If they a t least show an effort..I'll give em a decent rating.

It also depends on how I feel about the person (ex: all my friends are given 10s)

If people leave rude comments or low rating on my profile...I return the favor!

Im the kind of person who takes low ratings personally...especially if it comes from some whelp who knows nothing of the site yet. I've put a lot of hard work into my pro....I just ask to be rated fairly..

When got here I wasn`t sure how everything worked... When I got my pro together and got PM I realized people will rate me what they think i should get no matter what improvements I make... I have rated people lower than a 10 but I am always more than happy to re-rate when they have worked on their profile..

Everyone has their own reasons for rating low. If you *need* to know their particular reason, no matter how petty or stupid, buy a PM, find out what they rated you, and message them asking why. Some will give you a list of the things they found wrong with your profile, and suggestions on how to improve it. Some will hold you to an unreasonable level of expectations. And some will be very incensed that you messaged them about ratings, and will bitch you out, and possibly downrate you further. It's best just to ignore it, it's just a number.

shoot i would want to get a PM profile to see what ppl rated me, but im too poor for that at the moment -_-

Yeah, but being a PM gives you such a warm and fuzzy feeling inside . . . it took me awhile to be able to talk myself into spending the money.

LordVespertilio, You have a point about that, but it does matter to some, and some of us can't pay for a PM pro, so, sorry

I always give everybody a 10

I use to try to rate what I considered to be fair. Then someone brought it to my attention that the profile is the creation of that individual. Maybe they think it is wonderful, and maybe I think it isn't. I really should not judge them by the way I feel their profile should be. I should judge it by how much effort they have put into it. So, I do rate some of the Whelps low when they just put things like fuck you all and nothing else. But I now usually will put when you add more, let me know and I will rerate. Otherwise I try to rate 8, 9, or 10. Everyone has their own way of doing it. Try not to take it too personally because there is no set standard that must be met. Just make your profile something you like and it all evens out in the end. I find new things all the time to add to mine. Just have fun with it and don't worry too much what people think. OOOOHHHHH, does this sound like a lecture? I sure don't mean it to be.

i give everyone a 10 on both profile's and portfolio's.

i know its not expensive, but my dad has a crap load of debts that need to be paid off. but once he pays them off. then imma try to get a PM

I rate based on how well the person has represented themself.

Believe it or not that is actually what the VR manual says rating is all about.

If someone has nothing in their profile they will get a low rating from me. Having a PM means nothing to me. A PM that is empty will still get a low rating. I probably rated more 10's are free members than as PMs. PMs think that just because they are PMs they should get higher ratings and don't tend to put as much work into truely expressing themselvs. A free memeber that has truely expressed themself in words and appropriate images gets a 10 from me everytime. Someone that just fills either profile with meaningless images will get a low rating, same as all quizzes and nothing about the real person.

Go read the manual if you have an issue with the way people rate, it is up to the person doing the rating to decide what they will rate.

When I get a low rating, I will ask the person why. That is my responsbility, not theirs to tell me why.

i dislike vampire freaks also but i honestly think if someone rated you low its just because they want to rate you and get their status higher

I give most people a 9, if I think you've done something I want to steal...
I add +1... If you've done sometheing that bogs down my puter, or haven't done anything at all, or your offensive, I'll give you -1

It's tempting to rate the PM's higher... jsut because they have glitzier options... It doesn't make them any smarter or artistic tho. So the +1 is actually easier to get if you are not a PM.

profiles, as long as you have pictures on it that are of you... I give a 10... or if they are highly representative of you.
too many pictures on your portfolio can get you a -1.

I think that profile ratings are up to the individual doing the rating. Unless someone is bombing profiles to be mean, or to bring someone down just to do it, then there should be no problem in what rating you receive. Some with premium memberships, look at who has rated them and get upset when they get lower than a ten. I for one respect whatever someone rated me. I use the see who has rated you to make sure I rated everyone who has rated me.

The only way you will get a low rating from me is you are being overly offensive.
