Isnt sure this is where this goes but i will try..This article was sent me to me and i wanted to share it and have other's thought's on this subject..This is an outrage and if You would like to support this Family msg me and i will give You addresses..




October 4th, 2007 - Little River, South Carolina. Rhonda and Steve Grouber were arrested for practicing witchcraft, and child endangerment. Her son remains in juvenile detention as the courts won't release him into her custody because she is accused of casting spells on two police officers, and being part of the Pagan Motorcycle Gang.

Lt. Kevin Duke wrote out the warrant that he presented to the judge, including her involvement with the Pagan Motorcycle Gang, which was a corruption of her actually being the Pagans Night Out Coordinator for her area.

And if that isn't enough, when the police searched her home, they seized her on-line herbal business computer, as well as her husbands business equipment and computers, rendering them without their family lively hood.

What started out as a neighbor dispute quickly escalated when an angry neighbor called the police about her fear of Rhonda being a witch, and making false allegations of threats made by Ms. Grouber and her son.

Later that night Ms. Grouber and her son were sitting in jail cells. Not able to charge her with the crime of practicing Witchcraft, they held her for the maximum forty eight hours that the law allows without charging her, rendering her unable to attend her sons arraignment. Her son who has been in juvenile detention since the 10th of September, turned 17 on October 3rd. They will not release him to his mother as she has been deemed unfit due to her religious choices. Nor will they release him to his step-father.

Her son, Spencer Richardson, was said to have been arrested because he had an assault rifle in his possession. Though once in court the officers admitted it was just in the same room as he was. This is in conflict with the warrant Lt. Kevin Duke swore out, where he states Spencer was arrested having the gun in his possession, and drugs in his system. Both counts used to get the warrant issued have been recanted in court, and no drugs were found in the home or Spencer's blood system.

Spencer is a three year ROTC member, and was on the rifle team and Commander of the ROTC Athletics team. He has even attended Marine Boot Camp where he was has been trained in basic military courses including weapons. He was to attend officer school on his 18th birthday. However the courts will not release him because his family owns fire arms. Spencer Richardson was suspended from school based on these charges.

His parents has been denied visitation because they are not approved for visitation. Even though the case worker has put their name on the list, it always comes up missing when they come to visit. Chastity Doyle, his caseworker, has been as helpful as she can be to the family. She is very new to the idea of paganism, and has been supportive and open minded.

During this time of war, all of our enlisted men and women, despite their religious affiliations, are asked to fight, and possibly lay down their lives, for the noble cause of democracy. All Americans, no matter how they choose to commune with the Divine, are constitutionally afforded the same rights, which include freedom of religion. Freedom of religion means all religions.

Recently, as a nation, we have witnessed the positive affects community support can have when unfair incarcerations happen because of civil rights transgressions. As we all witnessed in the case of the Jena 6, targeting anyone based on race, or as in this case religion, merits a combined community out cry. When any one of us are discriminated against, we are all discriminated against.

Please respond responsibly. Please lift up your voices to help this family. We ask you to write, email, fax, and or call the following numbers on behalf of Spencer, Rhonda and Steve, as a vocal member of the pagan community. In a small town, tucked away in an otherwise quiet southern state, it might be easy for officers and officials to forget the rest of the world might be looking in on their actions.

As a mason, and being of Pagan pride, I can honestly say that both of these words...Mason/Pagan, are outcasts just the same, so I am getting it from both ends of the chopping block and know how this family feels in a sense.

But, as Infernal has said already, there are certain reasons people fear certain things. Religion is a manipulation for fear, especially certain denominations. Pride themselves over taking others down.

My only problem now comes.

As though I care not for these bigots and have faught against them through my life. Facing them down at high school when the decided to pull a lynch mob, getting campus officals involved, as well as the administration going against me and my friends in california. It was not amusing.

We got threats of sacrificing chickens at our school farm, according to the foot ball team (my ex was the water girl....heh...slut) but that was not the first time. Nor will it be the last with the hangings that have been going on around the backwoods territories of this bloody country.

It doesn't bode well, and I hope that the people who these situations will deal with them in the proper manner so there is not another war over rights. I shudder to think what would happen if witches and pagans go to war for what they desire. But there comes a point. What did they do to deserve such unwanted attention.

There are things you do not let your neighbors know. Things you cannot do in small towns. It appears that this is not only bad for the pagan community on both things being done to it. As well as the images that are projected.

Leading quiet lives, living above reproach for the art is what should be done. i am very enraged what right do they have to arrest that family and take their son away for doing nothing? that is such bullshit and very much discrimanation. I half to agree where is the freedom of religion here? that is really messed up. That poor family being arrestd for witchcraft what freakin year do we live in the 1800"s? god people can be so ignorant.

something like that happened in sunderland about 10 or 15 years ago. one kid nicked a couple of horror vids from his parents and watched it with his schoolmates. one of the kids got nightmares and before you know it a team of social workers had taken dozens of kids into care and accused half the parents on the housing estate of being satanists. you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make it think - we may have mobile phones and computers, but a lot of people are still no brighter than neanderthals, still scared of the dark.

It is a shame that the police are allowed to break the laws and harass and innocent family for any reason. Let alone some drumbed up changers by a buisy body neighbore. No where dose religious belief make one unfit to raise thier child. This is a travisty among any society, pure and simple.

Admittedly while the search warrant should really not refer to the person being a practicing "witch", I'm disturbed by the fact that the person's underage son was in possession of a rifle when the police arrived and the fact that he was recorded as threatening to shoot other people as well as being on meth at the time of his arrest. Surely these things go to show that all is not what it seemed at the person's house where all this took place.

Apparently both the accusations of drug use and that the rifle was in his possession were recanted in court.

I am still looking into this.

i am not pagan myself but do agree with most on here.. that is an outrage as seeing most of the people i know here are pagan/wiccan. it seems that instead of moving forwards with our way or living was all wrong cause from ive seen with this its totally backwards. there are supposed to be things written in this country to protect and uphold our religious rights. but as i can see it has failed.

Ok-I've done quite a bit of looking and have been unable to find any reference to this situation from any news source. However, a post on a forum yesterday stated that the couple was on their way to an interview with CNN so we may get that yet.

As someone who believes in the original constitiution, this is an outrage! This country was founded so that others could worship whom ever or not as they choose without persicution or fear of being persicuted for their beliefs. I see a slander lawsuit in the making.

As a Satanist, I have had many encounters with prejudice officers due to my beliefs. Thankfully I have a good lawyer.

The original source seems to be a forum post that Rhonda Gruber made. There is nothing from any major media outlets, or even minor ones, that I can find.

I did discover that Rhonda's husband, Steve, is trying to get a prior conviction for police impersonation overturned. I thought that was curious.

We are being persecuted because of my spiritual choices, not being Christian. Lt. Duke has a web page, WWW.THESANDYZONE.COM, stating his religious beliefs and infertility and adoption problems which leads us to the belief that he can no longer separate his personal feelings from his ability to do his job in an objective manner. He seems to have appointed himself as a personal victim's advocate for allegedly neglected and abused children. The fact that I am a practicing witch is being noted in complaints and warrants against me and my family. It has even been voiced in court along with allegations stating I have cast spells on 2 cops and the luisetti family by the solicitor during proceedings. My familiar pyewacket seems to have been mishandled during the search of our home. She was running and flinching from us the day after. I am very hurt by this. Though this can't be proven, I know my animal and this is not her normal behavior.
We have always tried to help others and be good people, so this is very hard for us to deal with. I am lucky to have a very strong supportive circle of friends and family or we would still be in jail. My in-laws had to take the majority of their retirement fund for some 20 thousand dollars to hire a powerful law firm to help us. Though I will never be ashamed of being a witch, I am so very sorry for all the trouble and loss of money it has cost them to stand up for us.
The reason for this letter is that we need all the help we can find to fight this. Whether it is positive protective energy, advice, or donations to help pay for this. I will not rest until I have made a difference for all that believe in freedom of religion. I don't want this to just disappear, I want to make a stand for all free thinkers against persecution. We all know the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
For all that believe in freedom of choice, please stand behind me or even beside me in court while I fight. I am not a quitter and I have a loud voice. I always stand up for what I believe in, all I ask is to not have to stand alone in this. It's time to fight for what we all believe in, not just lie down and take it. I have read through a couple of articles on this topic and I have read what was prensented to be the actual search warrent. I do not have an opinion on this topic yet because I was not there and do not know the whole story. If this is a case where abuse of power or authority is taking place then that is tragic and should be stopped. I personaly have faith in our justice system and believe that if the former is the case then the courts will work that out. I have learned through my experiences with both the military and civilian court systems that things are often not how they appear and I would never make a judgement based on one side of any story.

Amen to that. That is some fucked up shit. I live in South Carolina, about 250 miles from Columbia. Our police officers can be incredibly closed minded and unfair. This is messed up.

Ive been talking to Rhonda and its the police in the area are all narrow minded fools. So they are useless. It would have to be reported on a fedral level probably.

She says if everyone could get in touch with the local council man and state representatives and the media for this, it would help greatly.

It is sad to say the least. I hope that through the court system, the family will be vindicated.

I tell you this- I have searched with no results in the Myrtle Beach news which covers Little River, SC. Rhonda Gruber/Grueber/Grouper (supposed mother) and Spencer Richardson are not in the news, not in the archives. Until this can be proven not a hoax- I am closing this. Because a false story has perpetuated hate, nothing more.
