Out of all the tools Pagans use; my favorite has to be the Chant. By chanting a song or rhyme many times over and over you build what some refer to as a Cone of Power. This "cone" is a spiraling vibration that like the ripple in a pond affects everything around it. Have you ever pulled up next to a car and the driver is playing his music very loud with the base turned way up? If you have then you know that even several car lengths away you can still feel the power of the beat of the music. The vibration of the rhythm is far reaching. Magick and Music work hand and hand on this same principle. Weather it be drumming, chanting or both giving our voices in raised song brings about great change and inner peace.
www.SacredMists.comChants like we all Come from the Goddess, remind us of where we came and to what we will return in a calm peaceful manner that if chanted enough can leave you in a deep state of meditation. When you include music in your ritual you bring something to it that goes way beyond the mere actions we mortals can make. It is believed that music is a gift from the Gods. When we sing or chant to them we are returning that gift back to them.
My question to those of you reading this is this.....Does the energy come from within yourslf or is it drawn from some other source?
We all come from the Goddess, is the chant I myself use most often, and I am always able to raise a lot of energy when using it.

I would think that it is a combination of the two. The energy comes from within and without.
When you are vocalizing energy you are flowing it through yourself. You are drawing it in and directing it out with your own desired effects this also uses your own energy and should not be done by just anyone. Harmonic frequencies are part of the very core of Magic and work on every level. To the same aspect the chant has the power of hearing your full name. It does exactly what it is supposed to do as long as it is done right.
from you, from the earth, from the elements, from deities, or angels/demons...it depends on what your doing.
honestly, it all depends. I get some of my energy just being out in the sun. sometimes even being near water sources I get energy from them. It all depends on what element you feel confortable with.
i get a lot of energy from darkness and walking around at night. i wouldn't say that sound is so much what produces the energy, so much as it elicits an energetic response from within.
this is seen in the example of the car. you may feel the beat of the music and you may like it. it raises your energy. you may not like it and it changes your mood and energy for the worse.
i think energy is found in nature and in other living things. i prefer the energy from another person. when this is lacking, then it's time to go with a secondary source. it's also time to maintain a little better by being more proactive about meditation, etc.
i like going to meditation classes when i can and i find that my best energy intake comes from others who are focusing on channeling their own energy. it makes it nice and easy to funnel it into myself. i can feel energetically excited for days and even weeks after.
meditation is a good thing for vampires; it's even better when the energy of others is being focused around you. it's a bit like a nice meal when hungry.
In my opinion, the energy is the universes, you manifest the energy from the universe and use it for the balance of what you are perfoming at the time.
I have seen what certain vibrations can do in a group atmosphere of ten people in a circle, while chanting, a voilet sphere formed basically in the center of the circle. It disappated after the chanting had ceased.
Point being, energy can manifest if your desires are strong enough. Chanting, or other sound waves can cause peticular things to happen. I would say focus is a major key point to this type of event.
Eh, not too much into the group atmosphere. I am more of a do it yourself, but I guess what ever floats the boat without sinking the ship.
Some I would think, would more than likely take the energies for granted, but focusing on certain situations such as group meditation would seem adequette for what you are trying to accomplish at the time.
Don't ask me where I am going with this.
I seem to draw my energy not only from within..but from external sources as well.
I see it as drawing the energies from the universe into yourself, combining them with your own.. and sending them outward through chant to manifest your intention.
Why yes, everything is atually made out of the same energy.
Under some very strange twist of fate, everything just ended up cut off from each other.
Ultimately the energy comes from your environment. Your body and mind absorb the several energies by soundwaves, light, food, and elements, then reconfigure them to benefit the body. It is then reconfigured at least a second time to produce the particular energy required to perform "magical" tasks - i.e. chants, spellwork, meditation, etc.
Both. Have you ever placed your hands on a tree, the ground, or an animal and felt a surge of energy? The same comes from within yourself. If you've ever placed your hands together while meditating, or done the pointer-to-thumb thing, you can literally feel the energy flowing between the contact. It's quite and interesting feeling.
It comes from the ALL. Everything, I myself do not chant. Primarily because i hate hearing myself. Also, i feel i can concetrate better with complete inner and outer silence. Or if not, music, has to be the right kind though.
i believe energy/soul is in each of us and as we interact with other beings energy is exchanged...
personaly i use both my own energy and the energy of the earth i obsorb during grounding meditation
in my experiences i use my inner energy and the energy of the nature around me and also my friends and coven members lend theirs also.
sometimes i am fragmented and twisted, i will focus on the vibration of "love" to bring me back to center. i also use this to do healing work on myself or others. i try to expand this field of "love energy" to encompass my immediate surroundings and beyond to my neighborhood, city, state, country, world, ... universe. i feel better after doing this excersize.
I beleive emotions are the greatest of all energy sources.
I am filled with energy but I also draw much of it from the elements.
I believe the interpretation of Peggy Jentoft when it comes to energy:
"Chakra are described or seen as vortexes of energy which receive, regulate and disperse the universal energies we need to function."
Thus, we give out energy, take in energy, and sense different kinds of energy. To read more of her descriptions please see:

I take energy from many sources. Some times it's people and other time it's music. I can find energy in the woods or by lake, near water.....
there are thousands of ways to gather and raise energy. Drumming, chanting, Trance Dancing.......
energy is all around you and in you. it;s how you take the energy in that make the difference.
like taking a branch for use as a wand orother instument... ask the tree for permition...hence ask the earth to lend you her power.
We have energy inside of us but it has limitations. We must draw energy from the Source by our best method using ourselves as a conduit for receiving that energy, contain that energy in a vessel such as a Magick circle, and focus the energy toward the desired task by will and whatever instruments such as athames that help us.
I believe that it depends on what you are doing and energy can be brought in many different ways but it is already inside and out of you... You just need to raise it
Sometimes I'll do completely silent ritual, and sometimes I'll listen to music, drum, dance, sing, whatever.
However, in ANY ritual, the power I am raising comes from the earth, is drawn into me where I use my own personal power to shape, align, and focus it to the intent of my ritual, then released into the universe to make my desires happen.
well if your belief is strong enough then the energies around you will enhance you
I believe that the energy does come from within us. I think it is a combination of the energy that we are physically exerting as well as the energy from our faith that is tangible. We then use that energy to some end. Even if that end is just to expel excess energy. I have participated in many Native American ceremonies involving song, prayer, and dance. These ceremonies are very physically taxing at times. I believe the energy comes from us because there have been times when I have been completely drained of all energy after song and dance.
hrm.. there is some energy within us.. but most things I do .. I view the energy used to move as flowing through me as a funnel tube to a nozzle -- focusing and directing it to a target.
I am but a tool.
MTs&Os
i use a focus tool and i draw from everything around me
chants can help if i have a hard time really directing my thoughts and feelings
i am by no means an expert on any of it, but that usually works for me
i suppose it's all different for everyone
i've known people who had no idea they were even directing or drawing energy.. it just came naturally to them and they never thought about it
I believe that all the energy you have/use is from both within and from other sources
draw energies from the earth to recharge when you deplete your-self of your spare energy but dont forget to ground afterwards, otherwise you will end up sore (achey) and worn out even more. also draw energy from the earth when you know you are going to use it right away
I think that the actual energy comes from within yourself. How you use and channel that energy certainly differs from person to person. I personally use my athame to channel energy when I want to cast a circle, but normally I just channel through my hands.
for myself it is both within and without(myself and personally fire).
I would say both. Like is drawn to like, so you must have at least a small measure of power in order to influence other power to your will. Think of Luke Skywalker, who couldn't get it through his head that he was not lifting the spaceship, but rather controlling a power that could. It takes no more personal energy to move a mote of dust than it takes to move a mountain. The trick is learning this, and then how to control this power to bend other forces to your will.
It comes from within ourselves, no doubt. If there is more than one person chanting in unison, I think that the power gets drawn from each individual.
The rituals I do also has chants with them..And could have music playing..Like in my case i play Midnight Syndicate softly in the background..This was the way I was taught, and it is the best way to soothe me..But it comes from within and out..They work together in my ways
