In uniform with the main forum thread made a couple years ago for the Masquerade Ball in Phoenix, I would love for all New Orleans meetup attendees to post their pics (resized to keep from stretching our screens) and recollections. I have posted several in my journal, but I can post them here too.
I'm just waiting for my wedding pics and to see the pics of Images crying.
I didn't get a picture of that! Dang it, I was busy taking photos of the two of you! :)
the images i've seen so far have been excellent in helping me imagine how it would have been had i been able to attend
alas my hang ups are all my own
i was there in spirit :)
i hope everyone had a smashing good time!
thanks for sharing the photographs!
I've bounced around through some of the journals of people that I knew were there, but I haven't seen many pictures or links to pictures. I really would like to see some more. I was so looking forward to going, but things didn't work out.
Playlists from the Meetup are up in my blog on my Myspace.
Ok, here is a copy of my slide show. It has the whole trip on there, as there were way too many to try to pick and choose after 24 hours of uploading. It's exhausting!
So this is much easier than resizing and putting into photobucket and pasting codes. Ok, not easier, but at this point.......yes. haha.....
PS---If you want to go to individual pictures to click on, as I know there are a lot of cemetery shots, you can go to my myspace albums. There were 481 altogether, but for some reason, about 3 didn't load. Which ones those were, I HAVE NO IDEA.

OK, ONE MORE! Haha....
I vote, that NEXT time, or anywhere else planned, is in a cooler time of the year, so we can enjoy it more. I mean, it was fun, but no heat strokes in the spring or fall.......wherever we are next.......if I can make it........;)
I'm just sayin'...................not cold. Just cooler.....=)
Ok, now I am finished posting.....for now.

I have posted many pics in my journal- my photos, and snags from others :) They can be found in 'General Blogalicious'.
Were those first few pics after the hamster the candle bar that doesn't have full electricity? *SIGH* I miss New Orleans!!! I wish I could have gone!
It was a fabulous weekend and I'm honestly still trying to wrap my head around it all.
My pics are in the puter but I won't be able to get them up until sometime next week. As per usual, my schedule is in overdrive until then. :p I don't have pictures of people, more of the city itself. Which I do believe I've fallen in love with.
It was so wonderful to meet everyone. To those I didn't get to speak to or properly introduce myself, I'm sorry. I tend to get shy and play a wall flower. Which is kind of funny because once I get to know you, I'll be the life of the party. I contradict myself :p
Until next time y'all!
Yes, that was the candle bar. It is the oldest one in the city. Actually, their bottled water bottles said it was the oldest one in the US. Was a neat place.
Believe it or not, I get shy too. There were a few people I hadn't talked to on Rave befofe I went.
That candle bar is called Lafitte's Blacksmith shop and is touted as the oldest free standing building in North America.
It's also a piano bar and probably my favorite to visit. Definitely a cool little bar that the locals do frequent. It's not as touristy at night. Even though there are several tours that mark it as one of their stops.
I had a fabulous time - despite the humidity - and will get pics up in my portfolio by the end of the week! Promise!!
I had a spill earlier on Monday - those danged sidewalks so had to clean up and buy a new shirt, so missed the wedding :( so bummed...
I'll pop to myspace - need more pics!!!
So great to meet everyone!
Hey Nihonin :) Yeah, that's how I got introduced to Lafitte's...it was through the Vampire Tour, led by a dashing fellow by the name of Jonathon (I'm pretty sure that was his name).
If only I could transplant all of my friends and family to New Orleans...if I'm super lucky, I might get to go at the end of this month. *crosses fingers*

Wow, I sure hope you can manage that, Arunima! I will be sure that I can sweep in and meet you :D
Oh you guys really make me wish I could have gone, the city sounds amazing so full of beauty and history. I would love to meet some other members *wonders where next years will be*, I think it would be hard to top New Orleans.....
I hope I can manage it, too! :D I'd love to have dinner with you some night while I was there...
It's only like 200 bucks for everything (I mean everything...gas, food, sleeping arrangements...I looove Habitat's requirements) to be there for a week, but right now that's kind of a lot for me, lol!
So is New Orleans going to be the "it" place for VR meetups from now on?

As much as people enjoyed it, and how I'd rather it- I think they are going to try and switch off with other locations.
New Orleans is best in late Fall, in my opinion. The weather is prime to be walking around and enjoying the sites and shops.
Really, Images, I agree, that it would be cool in New Orleans again in the fall. We want to go back to see more, that we didn't get to this time. I missed the Cathedral and want to see some planations. Also, I saw something about another haunted planatation that I didn't know about on the outskirts of town.
I also mentioned to Cancer that it would be neat to meet in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. It's a neat town that is touristy, but waaaaaayy smaller than New Orleans. It has a haunted hotel called the Cresent Hotel and has lots of history that we always stay at, on top of the hill. It was featured on Ghost Hunters once and we went for a haunted weekend one Halloween, a package deal.
Anyway, it would be neat. =)
Last time I was in New Orleans was Halloween.. wow on all the festivities on Bourbon Street that night! But the fall is perfect time for New Orleans - the heat I was used to but not the humidity...still there was so much I did not get to see.. did get a drive around the Garden District on way to airport which was nice :)
Would be nice to bounce from west coast to east coast and in the middle. Las Vegas is another all night city; but as to ambiance like NO, doesn't have it.

*looks up at NB*....I have more wellings and sniffles too....Uh Oh.....lol....I miss you guys!!
I had so much fun with everyone too....And the wedding just made the trip for me....That was so amazing....I was honored.....
I think we should do a get together as well back in New Orleans...Fall absolutly!!...That heat was freaking crazy...lol....And it just had to be the hottest night that we had when the whole group ventured out together....*shakes my head*....
I also promised our beautiful Scarlett that we would go back!!....Even if I have to fly my hiney to Pheniox to kidnap her......
Cj if you go kidnap I'll provid the rop and chains lol
Indeed in a cooler period would be nice and I like the sugestion of the hunted Hotel in Arkansas, would be cool to maybe sleep in it
Thanks about the pics! Yea, I wanted to capture it all. And I did, of what we saw. I missed a few things but want to go back....when we can get some cards paid off from it. ;) And it's cooler. hahaha.....
And yea, the haunted hotel in Arkansas is cool. It has a morgue in the basement. It used to be a hospital that claimed to be able to cure diseases, but then couldn't. I don't believe they were bad to their people, just that many died there and were kept in the morgue. They give tours down there. And right now, they have a package deal around Halloween, and a chance to spend the night in the morgue. At least that's what the email said that I got about it. On Ghost Hunters, they captured a man walking in the morgue on their heat sensor camera.
It doesn't have to be the NEXT one we meet at, of course, just throwing it out there for ONE of them. =) And we can always just say, "Hey, we are going to such and such, if anyone wants to join us.". =)
My friend that popped down from Baton Rouge already wants some of us to come back for Halloween in the French Quarter... last time I was there (a LONG time ago) was that very night - wowsa what fun it was! and nice and COOOL :P

For anyone itching for more pictures, I posted some from New Orleans in my portfolio.
Nothing that can be used as blackmail against any of the attendees... but perhaps a few different angles on New Orleans.
Hey guys!!....DarkestD sweets, let me know when you plan on heading back down to our great Nwalins!!...I'm in and plan on snagging Scar too....
I'm still grinning about all the fun moments.... :)
Actually, I'm going back down and meeting my friend there for Halloween :) Fly in Friday and out Monday night...
Thanks for showing the photographs in the thread which was started Heid, and Jamie. What a shame no-one else posted any here, so it is time for journal haunting I guess! Bleh.
I have some pictures up in my portfolio and the start of a write up in my journal.
More pictures to follow :)
Sahahria edit: my space sux... this is now the correct slide show *sigh*
Heh, speak for yourself Nightblossom... I plan on going again and again... so what if it's in my dreams?! :P
I loved your pigy tails!...Thanks for the new pics hun...You Rawk!! :)
wow thanks for the pictures looks like you guys had a blast ...
Hey sahahria, did you get any at the events? How about that one of my hamsta? haha.......
I do have more photos, I just have not had the time to post them... soon I'll get it done! :)
i was wondering something , i think the new orleans meet up is amazing but what about canadian members who can make it down there will there ever be a canada meet up?
Hey, how about a VR even in the old continent? Come on people, have some sympathy for us European Vampires! ;)
LOL well I am fairly new here yet I agree that there should be a european and even a canadian meet up also, yet I am sure the prices would be higher for travel unless someone knows how to get the travel group prices for such trips.. That would be the Ultimate meet-up for sure.
This is going off topic in a fast way. The topic for this thread is just New Orleans.
I appreciate that others want gatherings in their areas, but then that is up to someone there to organize. The 2009 gathering was voted on and chosen to be a cruise.
Those that want one in Canada, we had one in 2006 that only 4 people showed for (one car load) and everyone else no-showed. If you wish to arrange your own meet up, set a date, a place and then post it in the Events section of the forum.
And back to the mayhem that was New Orleans!
I still need to snag some pictures people took!! Im so glad NO survived Gustav, because I am going back to the quarter for Halloween!
Anyone need more pictures or ? just let me know :) I will be able to hit two other cemetaries now and get some new pictures that I couldnt before... just no VR people though :(
Heidi, perhaps we can meet up for lunch in the quarter? I'll be staying at the very small, but lovely Chateau Hotel on Chartres Street - nearer Jackson Square.
I wish we could go back to New Orleans again soon, and Halloween would be a good time to be there. Can't for awhile. But we do intend on going back. There is much more to check out!
Well, if people are coming for Halloween, let Images know and we'll see if we can go for a coffee or whatever. I'm sure she's all up for it. And I think, if I like you, I'll go hang as well.
That was great you all had such a good time down in New Orleans. I hope you got to met Joli or someone from her organisation too! and I would love to see more photographs too if I could... I am so hungry to see more!! :)
post .. post post ..post more..
quench my angst...
lest i hunt you down lol

Let me know, DarkestDesires :) I'll be sure to see ya!
I will be there for Halloween!!! :-D
Staying at the Chateau Hotel, 1001 Chartres Street.. very quaint, 48 room hotel nearer Jackson Square from what I'm told.. coming in Friday same time and leaving same time early Monday evening!!!
With all the Hurricane activity and such, is the Cruise still going to launch? I mean isn't that gonna be hazardous to the members? I'm crazy, this is true, but not that crazy. I enjoy swimming, but wouldn't you hate to be Gilligian?
This should go into the 2009 Gathering forum as the New Orleans meet happened- it's over this is for people to discuss that.
It was a wonderful time, if you want to see more pictures, several of those that attended may have them in their portfolios. Closed to just good memories.
