Everything has a beginning, As well as an end. So, If we Could "make up" a Vampire bible, How would you write Genesis? (The beggining)
What makes me ask this is because ive just got hold a free copy of Vampire Temple's "Vampire Bible"
(I'm willing to send people a copy if you msg me)
So, this is really just a question on how you percive Vampire Genesis. It could start 2000 years ago, or it could start today. Just write a chapter on how "We/Vampires" differed from the rest of the population.
Keep in mind, what you write is not "What happend" No facts, no "Ive heard this" Its just a fictional take on things. And...Do you beleive there's room for a Vampire Bible?
The "Vampire Bible" is now posted in the journal, Feel free to copy and paste into a MS worksheet Doc.
This could realy be tricky. Alot of Vampire movies and also other movies and books post some sort of start of it all. Some are good and some not.
I could try to write my own, If Im pleased with it I will post it, if not.....
I would be glad to read the copy you have in your hands.
Is this Vampire Bible the one that was supposed to be connected with Anton LaVey ?
i have no writing talent, but i look forward to hearing/reading what other come up with. there are a many talented people here on Rave so i think this will be a great thread to follow! (off to read "Vampire Bible" in your journal)
"Is this Vampire Bible the one that was supposed to be connected with Anton LaVey ?"
This "bible" is from the site: http://www.vampiretemple.com/
Thats all i can say because...I have no idea who Anton LaVey is, But will look into it now. :)
Thanks for the link i will check out your journal. I honestly don't have a real idea who he is either just someone had mentioned his name once to me as being connected to either witchcraft or vampirism but i can't remember which. :S
Thanks again.
Just wikipedia'd it, He was the founder of the American Church Of Satan and had written various books on that area of the supernatural.
Well, I certainly wouldn't know where to start, but the best one that I've heard on the origin of vampires is White Wolf's, which is loosely based on an actual Genesis story.
In Genesis, after Cain kills Abel, God places a mark on Cain's head, not only so everyone will know that he has spilled his brother's blood, but also so no one will harm him. White Wolf proposed that the mark was the mark of a vampire. He said that as much as God was angered, He was also secretly pleased by Abel's blood saturating the ground, which is why He cursed Cain with something that can be seen as both a punishment and a reward.
If you read the actual Biblical account of the Cain and Abel story, it tells that Cain was a farmer, but after he killed Abel, God told him the ground would no longer bear fruit for him, which leads one to ask-what did Cain survive off of? It also says that Cain went to the land of Nod once he was ostracized, which is a land that has long been associated with vampire legend.
Works for me! :)
I never knew that about the story of Cain and Abel, i have a bible on the side and i'm just about to look into that ><
any way you could send the "Bible" to me. I would love to read it.
According to the White Wolf theory, as described above, Cain was cast out for slaying his brother, and set out for the Land of Nod.
While he was travelling the land, he was met by a woman. The woman's name was Lilith, Adam's first wife. Lilith shows affection towards Cain and grants him the powers that are described in the Book of Nod, published by White Wolf.
Here's the thing:
It's too much of a coincidence that what the bible describes, what White Wolf describes, and what people are calling the Apocrypha describes all seem to match up.
I'm sure what White Wolf published was merely a coincidence. But the lost books of the Bible? I think not.
I have never heard of a vampire bible. Granted there might be one out there and will enjoy the read on the one you have posted in your journal.
I do not think that I would start a bible, maybe a way to keep track of names but not a bible on vampirism.
i have this bible from the temple but mine is 28 pages long, huh, I guess it is an extend bible form. Many religious inties have bibles or grimores so to say and i have heard rumors of a vampire bible out their scarce handed down yet have not been able to located it or see it, as for writing a new bible , it would be a highly devoted task to say the least, info on all accounts through the years and into present would have to show the linage of how and when it started, alot of studing old script.
i believe what was meant about writing a vampire bible was more about just having fun with a fictional story... not actually creating a real one...
i think faceless ment for you to write your own theory of vampire creation...
so anyone have any off the wall theories on how vampires came to be?
The question is will it be accepted. They do have a vampire church, but it's not widely know. I am not so sure there is room, because people are so close minded now a days.
I don't think it would be fit if I write a bible because I kinda suck so it won't be very interesting.
But I never knew that there actually was a Vampire Bible. *skips off to your journal*
You can go to the Temple of the Vampire website and buy the Vampire Bible. It isn't really expensive. The one I have I got from a study group and it is just a plastic ring bound photocopied thing.
There is no Vampire Bible written and acknowledged by the community in general because they don't think of it as a religion. There are those that have formed religious oriented groups and this is one of them but they are few and far between and the Vampire Church, the one run by Damien DaVille is just a tax exempt name. They aren't a church at all.
ToV does not believe in blood drinking, they believe in vampire gods, they believe that man is the food of the vampire and they are no more than cattle. They believe a lot of very almost militant things. Most consider them a cult. I apologize if this offends anyone who may be a member but if they are they are NOT blood drinkers which so many believe is a sign of vampirism. It's not but some drink blood and that is all there is to it. These guys feed on the astral plane.
As far as Cain and White Wolf, one of the problems with what they wrote is the author who by the way isn't doing so well now drew things from folklore/religion and put it in that game. People play it and that is fine. The Land of Nod is a metaphor for a nomadic lifestyle which he had until he built great cities such as Sodom and Gemorrah which were destroyed because they state there was debauchery but if you research it is more out of jealousy that he was so successful but these weren't all of the cities he built.
When I read all the way back I have yet to find any Vampire Bible except the one that the ToV wrote and I can tell you unless you label it a rpg type of thing, no one would follow it except ... well you know.
You want people to write a fictional book from the perspective of the vampire. How they came to be and beliefs, is that it? Where do you want it put? In our journals? This is an interesting fiction project. The Genesis of the Vampire.
I believe that having a vampire bible would be easier but not quite true it would be difficult and there of course would be controversie. Though isn't there always with things of this sort. But I think I would start with Kaine and Able but that is just me.
A holy book, like the Bible or the Koran, are the words of God. You don't really get to dictate what goes into such a holy book.
Wow, guys, I realize there are alot of ppl on this site that devote alot of time and energy to study, but I really think this was just supposed to be a fun, hypothetical exercise. I love all the information everyone is pouring out, that's great, but I don't think anyone ever mean for this to be something that hit mass market as the next spiritual truth. A large part of the reason that vampirism is attractive to so many people is because it's what you make of it; take the fantasy and run.
i tried to say that earlier... but i guess it went unnoticed...
Yes a lot of us do.
I have a question.
If the vampire goes mainstream. Wouldn't the churches also have to go mainstream and be recognized fully as a certified religion?
Most churches are recognized. A vamp Bible, eh? Start with a little bit of Lilith and the birth of a deadly-quiet kept secret of the vampire species birth, followed by the attempts to live within society and the original failure (instead of Original Sin). Maybe a betrayal of Lilith which earned vampires all their weaknesses and the telling of a time when the chance to be redeemed will come and they will either choose to do so or not and, most likely, perish. Enter, bright-eyed hope for the vampire race! Follow, betrayer that follows through on your purpose. Vampire memories should last longer than a dead human, so onward the words of Lilith and her plight and the plight of those that knew the bright-eyed future for vampires and how "the word" has carried on despite anonymity amongst the world.
Indeed, this thread is merely for fun. I'm not talkin about creating a religion, or writing in fact's. I just want to see how people think the Vampire race was created and survived "unknown"
Just abit of fun with words. Let your imagenations take you through it. And there is still yet to be a story posted on here, which is worrying >.>
though the temple does not advotate talking about the vampire bible or the teachings to outsiders, the vampire bible is more of a outlined guide of living life to its fullest for modern day vampires, there are reasons why there are such secrets about such things.
sounds like a great theory!!!
maybe cain & lilith could be the vampire equivalent to adam & eve?
a vampire bible could be the beginning of your life as a vampire. If you were created or born that way you life history. it depends how you think they were created.
If I were to write a Vampire Bible I think I would start with the whole Lilth theory and move on to Vlad history.
There are many takes on this as to writing a bible just a mater of one deciding whom was the first Vampire and use them. Alot believe it was lilth and alot believe it was vlad so it is just a matter of who you think came first LOL which of course I am sure it was Lilth who first introduced Vampirism into history.
Very interseting theories and ideal for a writing .. great thread.
I really like the Anne Rice theory on the beginning of Vampirism with the body of Enkil being infected by the blood thristy spirit.
The stories are the best ones that I've come across for giving what appears to be a valid argument for the source of vampires.
JMC
Anne Rice is also a fictional writer. It sounds like an Indian myth I heard about spirits invading peoples bodies and making them blood thirsty.
Thank you CountThanatos. You said all that needed to be said. There is a reason the Vampire Temple has their rules and the reason's are kept inside the temple walls.
Congratulations FacelesUnknown. I'm sure obtaining the Bible illegaly was quite a feat for you. Take Care.
Just curious, if you have a copy -- have you read any of it yet to get an idea of the direction of the bible? Do you plan on sharing your findings with the imagination of those who gave varying creative ideas?

i would say that there was a lonley creature that ventured out one night to a small village and fed off of a human
why would a vampire have a bible, a vampire tend to be alone, he craves that lonleyness.
I believe there is room for everything in this world and if people are not going to accept it then it doesn't matter.
Since Bible comes from biblos meaning book there was nothing holy originally attached to that word. Certain factions made one particular book to be the inspired words of their God. Why call it a Bible anyway. Why not just call it the Vampire Codex as others have or just the Vampire Book because that would be all it would mean if you use the Vampire Bible. No one would ever follow it except those who tend to be followers, lol.
No one agrees on anything now as it is but it would be "fun" to try and write one and see what we all came up with from our varying perspectives on the topic for entertainment purposes only. I guess if I decided to do that I would post it in my Journal but quite honestly I think it would be a waste of time for anyone to try to come up with anything like this unless it is meant to be a fictional recalling of the origin of a vampire race and their beliefs. Kind of a cool idea for a writer.
MinervaOfTheCrows stated: They do have a vampire church, but it’s not widely known.
I reply: This might have been addressed already, but I am not done reading the thread. The Vampire Church is actually rather well known in the online vampire community; at least to those interested in what has been termed “real vampirism” (I.E. people who lack the ability to create for themselves the energy they need to sustain them in their everyday lives, but are capable of gathering that energy from external sources which are not limited to blood donors). The Vampire Church is not, however, associated with any religion nor is it attempting to create a religion for vampirism. The word “church” is used in reference to a haven. The purpose of the VC is to bring together those interested in “real” vampirism so that they might learn more about this condition.
Regarding the original query: are you interested in collecting stories for this book on fictional vampirism or what has become known as "real" vampirism?
The A. Rice Enkil/Akasha first vampire story is based on Egyptian mythology of Osiris and Isis. Osiris is killed.
Isis uses magic to bring him back to life. She gets knocked up before he dies again. Isis later gave birth to Horus.
Osiris-Horus became a life-death-rebirth deity, and thus associated with the new harvest each year.
It is strange though that none have actually tried to write a fictitious bible for all things dark and evil
As Azuredark stated it`s a nice fiction book.
However I think the way they present it as real is a way of making more money.
The beggining would have to begin even before Adam and Eve, when it was Adam and Lilith. She is a big part of the Vampyre, so we must not exlude her, she is a Vampyre Goddess.
I checked out your journal Faceless... I added it to my favorites. It's awesome, I'll message you if I can come up with any stories for you.
weell the vampire nation could of started hundreds of thousands of years ago who knows
There's a Vampire Bible called "The Black Book" but I don't know if a real thing or if someone just threw it together and decided to make it 'official'. It's worth looking into though.

well i guess there would be a bible for people that think they are vampires
Hmmm... seems like there is no real "source" for these vampire bibles that pop up. Interesting reading, but that's about it for me.
vampire lore gets re-written every time they make a new movie or TV show.
Agan, this thread was just abit of fun, not a search for facts >.<
I had never heard of such a thing as the Vampires bible but sounds like a good read. It amazes me how people have such a big difference of oppion on one matter
