Highly advanced medicines
Question is should beings which are known to be making mistakes continuously be allowed to own such great power or should we have left it more to the immortals?

too much power? i say no, like i stated in another thread, the average human only uses up to 10% of there total brain power. i think there is a LOT more power humans can have. so what we have now is nothing to what we will have acheaved in a thousand years.

Some insight into our power was summed up by the aliens from The Simpsons' "Treehouse of Horror II", in a parody of "Plan 9 From Outer Space":

I don’t believe it’s the subject of humans overly having too much power, rule etc. as humans can freely choose well-behaved or prejudicial ways to make use of such power. However too much complexity, and too much triviality I feel will continue to bring widespread use of supremacy in sense of being noticed, or that of being feared and in end will only be remembered as a phenomenal mistake. Those with power are driving this Phnom, and only a fool believes they're doing it out of good of man and for public compassion. It’s not all about the profusion of power we as humans have it’s the fact that equipment does fail and humans do make mistakes.

Unfortunatly that is not the way of afore mentioned world. The human race is entirely arrogant and selfcentered. It has been raised with such qualities, especially in the last 45 years or so...

Funny that you mention Vanity lol I remember in highschool we had to do a morality play for drama class. I of course was chosen to play Vanity haha and I wore a big purple boa, long black gloves... lots of bling and had a mirror attached to my hand... needless to say I played it all too well lol

We could not destroy this planet even if we used every resource at our disposal. We'd only make in uninhabitable for ourselves... Which in itself, is a sort of survival of the fittest concept.

I think it all has to do with Ego, Pride, Greed, Power, and Money... In my opinion, most if not all of the leaders in the world have the above. With that combination, how can we not be all jacked up? lol

Are humans too powerful? If you really think about it....no. If we are we would be able to control everything in our path. But....we cannot. We cannot control the path of the earth or the orbit of the moon. There is always something there that controls the movement of nature, of our lives. We cannot control teh full extent of our fate. We can mess with it alittle but we can not alter it. If you are ment to die you will die and if not then you will remain on the God forsaken earth. There is a higher power out there that controls our minds, it hides in the shadows of our minds making them churn....if it weren't for it...we would not have any power at all...

in reply to an above post that said we can't destroy the world because we need to survive, i just query, what will happen when we can travel to other planets (not likely at the moment, i know, but with the first private shuttle being launched into space, i figure that it's getting closer)¿
will we become just another parisite, travelling from one planet to the next, and migrating every thousand years or so, when that planet's natural resources are depleted¿

if us vampires ruled we would not have to live in fear! instead of learking in the shadows of the night we could walk freely without fear. and we would have some loyal humans. the ones that want to become vamps that is. we could do it. there is more than enough of us, dont be so scared.

Who's scared? It's a ridiculous idea. Most of us embrace the mortality around us -- or tolerate it anyway. I don't believe in slavery and world domination -- who needs any more war or useless indecency.

In response to krush, the strength is actually proven in the fact that vampires don't rule the world. the fact that they could, but instead hold back and wait and watch in the shadows. Vampires don't usually walk the shadows in fear, but instead walk them as that is their domain, that is what they own.
yes, they could own more but it just means that it would be more complicated.
