I couldn't help myself... I got inspired earlier in another thread.... dam those soul mates!

I know some of this has been posed before, but resurrection is good once in a while.

Do you often feel that life really has no choices, that you are really just along for the ride?

Or are there doors opening for you and you are free enough to step through them, and ultimately alter your path?

Cute little movie, sliding doors... the what if factor....

My thoughts? It's all fate and destiny, we have a few little token gestures thrown in for fun, but they do nothing to alter the finale.....

As mentioned once before I can go on and on about this subject, but the thread lacks the one on one debate with martinis and cigars!

Well I believe we are free to make our own choices in life..how you end up in life depends on yourself. However, it was my destiny to be who and what I am and nothing can ever change that.

I think destiny is controlled by fate.

I stay between darkness and light (calling it "walking through shadows" for myself). One day I must choose one of the sides, but it will be only my choice.

I like to think that life gives you little hints about what you need to be doing. Nara feels the need to unass Florida all of the sudden...a shitload of hurricanes..two car accidents.. yeah. There's something to that, I think.

I've been receiving little hints for about the past... ooooh I'd say six or seven months... this web site is greatly tied into it. Right now thats the path I intend to take, when monitary situation provides the means. The feeling (like a pulling sensation at my chest) is entirely too strong...

Well I totaly believe in fate and destiny..However you are offten shown more than one option in life.Ironically though,The one you choose is the that has already been wrought..So in short weeeeee.. what a fun ride..Meh

i myself believe that such thing as free will is an illusion.
let me explain myself...
at any instant, your action is determined by:
1)what u see, hear smell etc...
2)how u feel (so short past)
3)your experience(long past)
so it depends on the past( nothing u can do about it) and the present situation(nothing either).

I believe that you are given chances
in life to meet your soul mate, but it's up to you what you do with that chance your given. Hope you can make sense of that. lol

free will all the way baby, but god knows what we are destined to do. it is a conudrum (sp?).

This would be a good thread in which to explain my theory of multi-dimensional existence.

It's not much of a stretch to imagine that the 4th dimension, or afterlife, is a plane beyond time as we know it. It would be a non-linear existence. So, when you go there, you are a part of all time. Existing in all time. Which means you are there right now.

I know many of you are thinking, huh?!?

Let's follow this through a linear progression, as this is how most humans think. A baby is born January 1st, 1950. The baby lives and then dies January 1st, 2005. At that point, the soul crosses into the 4th dimension, and is a part of all time. This means, that soul could go to January 1st, 1950 and watch its own birth.. Or to 1971 and watch its 21st birthday party. The point is, if you exist in all time (after this life), then it is possible for you to be looking at yourself right now from the afterlife.

The next step, if you believe in reincarnation, is to understand that the soul exists in the 4th dimension prior to being born into the earth plane. This means, the soul, being a part of all time, see's it's life path prior to birth. The soul chooses its path. This is destiny.

When I was younger, I refused to believe in destiny... Because just as Neo says in the first Matrix, I didn't like the idea of not being in control of my own life. But destiny exists because we are in control. We form our destiny prior to birth. And it has all already happened.

in a world such as this it would be foolish of us to think that it was either or.....

like if I fall off a cliff I am destined to fall.... my choice is how I decide to deal with the conciquences of what is happening to me.

I should think one would deal with it by LANDING.

I'm surprised I had not made a post in this one yet.

Personally, I think it is a mixture of each, with a strong basis on instinct-- perhaps set out by past lives, premenitions, etc.

Ah well, back to the books for me.

i think of pandora's box when i think of fate. i think that there is a set path for us but being as we haven't lived it yet it is open to change. i had a fork in the road a few years ago and i could've winded up dead or screwed up on drugs but i chose to make something of myself despite what happened to me. Fate does exsist but it gives us options as to which paths we choose to take and i like to think fate doesn't affect our thoughts and it's our choice to follow the path most walked or walk the path we design for ourselves.

here's a question that will bake your noodle cancer. saying that in the afterlife i could have formed the life i'm now living, did i go back to this age and spin my life in this direction so i can say this to you now?

I feel that cancers idea of multiple reality living is along with my beleifs on this one....we have the choice.....but each fork in a road has it's own life.

But really i believe that you choose the life you will lead before you are even born. So if there's something wrong in your life don't blame it on a god you chose the life no one else did.
