Like the forum is named, can cannibalism create supernatural creatures?
I have heard that the windeago were created this way.
Yes, dear lady that is the legend. There was a thread about it recently.
A disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, similar to Mad Cow Disease can be spread by prions through eating flesh of infected animals whether they are cows or humans so cannibalism can be a method transmission of this disease. It is not supernatural, though.

I doubt it. If cannibalism would produce a supernatural force there would be far more many forces around today. Cannibalism still goes on in areas of the world.
And, as far as I was aware, the Wendago was created when a person's heart goes as cold as ice, therefore becoming a creature which feeds on hearts itself.
I do not honestly believe that cannibalism creates anything but someone who craves flesh.
Thier is a Hindu sect in India called the The Aghoris who believe they get supernatural powers through alcohol and cannibalism who knows i have not really researched it ......Seen it on the wildboyz of all places
Yeh, I agree with Ocean, amerindians did so(the caribs) and they didnt turn to supernatural creatures.....
cryingmoon... are u high?
MBK edit - Posts like this are completely unnecessary. You're getting a little break to read the forum guidelines.
I don't think cannibalism would create a supernatural, but I believe it is possible for there to BE cannibalistic supernaturals.
I do not believe there is anything supernatural about consuming human flesh. Therefore, no transformation into another creature would happen through such consumtion. The most supernaturally related thing to cannibalism is human sacrifice, which may have more meditative values.
No, because you're not eating the spirit, just the flesh. No difference in effect than eating a cow.
It might give a mental "boost" to the person , and lead her to believe that , but i dont think it makes someone supernatural!
I'd say no to the theory. Like has been said previously, with the amount of cultures and people who practice or have resorted to cannibalism, there would be great numbers of these creatures walking walking the Earth.

This myth was used as a deterent and cautionary tale among northern tribes whose winters were long and bitter and whose hunting parties often were trapped in storms with no recourse but to consume members of their own party.
Actual Wendigo murder trials took place in Canada around the beginning of the 20th century. The alleged clinical condition of believing oneself to be a Wendigo has been described as Windigo (note the spelling: not Wendigo) Psychosis.
Probably one of the most famous murder trials was that of Jack Fiddler. Fiddler was a Cree Indian who claimed that he killed 14 wendigos during his lifetime. In October 1907, both Fiddler and his son Joseph were tried for murdering a Cree Woman, whom they claimed was possessed by the spirit and was on the verge of transforming into a wendigo. Both men were found guilty and were imprisoned.

According ot some beliefs....
Ancient native american tribes would eat the flesh of their fallen enemies, believing that their enemies' strengths would be transferred to them.
thus making them better warriors....
As cannibalism was and still is a common practise for many cultures, I don't believe so.....also if it was wouldn't it have been picked up by now and everyone would be doing it!
I have heard that it slows down the aging process and lengthens your life to eat human fetuses.
I seriously doubt that cannibilism alone would make 'supernatural' creatures, perhaps it would pass on some sort of viral disease but other than that no way.
After all, take fish for instance, they eat each other all the time but are they supernatural?? I think not.
If they're no longer human it is no longer considered cannibalism, so in that, the theory is moot anyway.
I am so up in the air with this forum post cuz cannibalism is considered way out there so i don't rightly know now..
Disease can be spread through eating tainted falesh, but otherwise, I am not sure about making oneself a supernatural creature through eating flesh.
I don't think that eating anything can create a creature of any sort ever.
Could it change an existing creature into a supernatural one ?
You could argue that human cannibalism is not natural, so that could immediately create an unnatural creature - yes, or would that just be a creature with unnatural behaviour
but could it create a creature that is above nature ? - no, surely not, , no diet could
I don't think that just because you ate one of your own that if would create supernatural creatures, wouldn't that only happen with cross breeding like say a dog and a cat mate that would be odd LOL
Well, Yes there are legends of certain tribes and Shamans , gaining powers from eating human flesh, Not something that I practice, but I have read about it.
Hmm, I just don't see how. ? I mean maybe in stories, but don't see that in real life.
so saying eat me translates to More power to you.. in some cultures..
first of all what kind of supernatural creatures are we talkin about..and why if cannabalism is prevelent in other countries is there no mention of "strange" creatures in these areas..But as my dragons say..Humans r crunchy and good with ketchup..who knew? lol
The constant eating of brains caused some Cannibals or Eaters to mutate and develop psionic powers. These even more dangerous Eaters were stronger and faster and they used their limited psychic abilities very effectively. Unfortunately, the dark and evil act of cannibalism can attract attention from the darkest corners of the megaverse. Already many supernatural eyes were focused on Earth, the newest of the super nexus points in the megaverse and one of the dark gods saw what was becoming of the Eaters and decided to "help" it along. The being focused its energy on a few scattered groups of Eaters and infused them with dark energy, transforming them into minor supernatural creatures that became known as Super Eaters by the *NEMA groups.

I dont think because all your doing is eating anothe person. We dont posses things cows do just because we eat them.
no i don't think it can but how ever it can
cause defformatys in a infet concedering the mother not eating the way she should during pregnancy.
I don't think so either. A victim of a cannibal is eaten. Nothing more. No different than being eaten by a lion or any other animal for that matter.
you mean "wendigos." They are a part of legend and folklore.
Searh it on wikipedia ;)
i would hope not, otherwise we would have deranged psycho paths running around eating people.
There are everal legends about people eating others and then being granted more strength and power. This exists in many cultures. Even the Christian faith uses a psuedo cannablistic rite. Taking of the "Blood and the Body" The Myth of the Wendigo is another that involves cannableism inorder to become a more powerful creature.
I don't see how, myself. There's nothing supernatural taking place with the consumption of human flesh so I doubt the creation of the supernatural could take place.
For cultures that have practiced, or continue to practice the consuption of human flesh, they believe that they gain supernatural attributes.
Whether it is the actual ingestion the makes this occur or the consumer's belief that motivates them, the creation still occurs, even if it is in the mind of the cannibal.
I do not believe cannibalism creates supernatural creatures, unless it is in FICTION. I think cannibalism is just sickening, gross, MURDER. And that also goes for all the female praying mantises that bite off their male counterpart's heads! Damn them all to the hounds of hell!!!
I dont think cannibalism can cause supernatural creatures. It could pass on diseases and virus but thats about it.
I know some beleive that if you eat a persons heart, then you gain their strength. I don't know though. I don't see it. Which is to bad, as hearts are rather tasty.
No if that was the case then I would live forever or never be sick i eat human and i'll die the same way anyone else will
No I really dont think so. I feel that some people think it does and act out cannibalism believe this.
I thought I read somewhere that American Indians would eat the organs of their families once they had passed, in order to take on part of their spirit.
ive often come across different histories and cultures eating parts of vanquished enemies but that was to increase thei own power or abilities
It sure didn't work for Jeffery Dahmer, and he gave it one hell of a try.
I think eating people means you're a cannibal and nothing more.....
Lol at Sevenns post.
i'd say no, outside of diseses that could make you crazy, I don't see how this could make someone a supernaturla creature.
Perhaps it can make one a supernatural creature, if considering that supernatural, in this sense, is something not natural to do.
i dont think this will cause anything to be supernatural. They are eating flesh and i dont see what would be the difference eating humans, versus an animal, that would make them supernatural
Uh... no.
It could probably get you locked away for the rest of your life, though...
I don't believe that cannibalism can create a supernatural creature. I do believe there is a culture in the world where the family eats a part of a deceased family member. I do remember reading about it somewhere. And no zombies were created sorry :)
not at all...
if cannibalism taken place...
the collepse of civilization and total human and vampire bio culture i mean these species will end...
and disgusting trend will start...
Edi Amin was stopped for this reason...
well im not sure if it could happen in many legeands we there stories of people healing quicker and becoming stronger , i have heard legeands where people have gone off and live in the woods staking hunters and hikers
but nothing supernatural about it
Remember the airplane crash, where the rugby players had to eat each other to live? The movie was ALIVE. They weren't Wendigos or goblins....but real people put in a horrible situation.
No. Why would it?
Nothing supernatural is taking place. Just another action in the foodchain.
no.. if i ate a person, i would not be able to make a unicorn
I think that all cannibalism would make for would be a bad case of indigestion and possibly criminal charges since it's still illegal in most places to eat someone else.
It doesn't stand to reason that anything supernatural would occur from cannibalism.
