what if any is the criterium for post closure or deletions......or is there even criteria?....if not is it just an arbitrary I don't like it sort of thing....
I do generally trust the judgement of the ops....but power does corrupt and we are all fallible creatures....so what decides...this persons ideas are not worthy and this ones are?
just wondering...maybe if there were set criteria the quality of posts may get higher?
just a random thought from my grey mush
I know part of it has to do with the content of the forum post...and the area that it is posted...
mm maybe so that others dont get offended with certain themes and everyone can get along...
hehhe
there is very little in life that will not offend someone....
and sometimes argument is a good thing...as long as it doesn't get taken too far
true....i dunno then....they should have their reasons
*shrug*
maybe they have previously decided which direcion each post should take. Sometimes posts start off on a particular topic, but then slowly sway in another direction. When tangents begin to form, perhaps that is their call to close the thread.
just my thought.
I couldn't say but perhaps we will get an answer from someone who does tomorrow.
yes I was sort of hoping for input from our vampire masters..........
i only put it here instead of direct msging them as I felt this was a public topic.....if this isn't a public topic...what is?
This happened before way back .. then it was determined that posts should be kept on the Vampire theme Daermon. If not.. they would be sealed. Lately there has been more posts without a Vampire theme but the quality of them has be a tad better in my opinion. *smooch*
I'd like the pleasure of replying to this one.
We have quite well defined guide lines in terms of Thread closures, and deletions. But we also have a considerable amount of freedom that Cancer gives us with trust.
And yes Daer, corruption could be possible anywhere, but I'm yet to see it here.
To quote the great man himself on some points and the rest is ablibing on my part:
- A thread becomes very, very long. This means a thread will take a long to load, especially for our dear users on dial up, consideration must be taken.
- A thread needs to be stopped. Perhaps the language is becoming inflammatory or the subject is just getting out of hand. Or childish arguments have broken out - take them into private messaging.
- A thread is not relievant to any vampire topic, and on my part, non pertaining at least to a gothic, wiccan, occult or related topic.
- A thread is Delete if it's a very bad topic, or a repeated current topic.
In general, it really is common sense.
Threads can be reopened and closed by an Admin and this does occur from time to time. But we are all very respectful of each other and every member.
If you have a query on a closure most admins, I am sure will be happy to discuss, or point you in the direction of who you need to speak with.
But a little word of caution. A query is welcome, but not full on abusive messages like we can often recieve.
Please have some consideration for those that give their time freely to make this place a haven for everyone. This goes doubly so for Cancer and Elder Dan.
I am always happy to discuss anything to do with the Rave, please feel free to message me with any questions, as those that have in the past know, I ALWAYS respond.
Love, fondles and molestations,
Moreish
I've noticed alot were getting closed after someone (not mentioning any names) is on. Happens every time. I can understand pointless threads being deleted but most of the time threads with good feedback and discussion are closed and have later been reopened after complaints I'm presuming.
Before any questions are posted you should read the FAQ, if the FAQ had been read there would be no need for this post or many others.
Yes, I have to agree. This question is handled in the FAQ.
But Moreish did a good job of answering it.
thx ppl....this one was more for a few newbies who were asking me as I already knew the answer and for some reason they didn't wanna post it...
I do agree with it being a bit more open than just vampire topics tho.....I feel that would run dry in short time...not due to lack of info...but lack of creative questioning
