Closer Look @ Vampyrism


Aside from all the stereotypes and misconceptions, what does truly set vampires apart from all of humanity?

this is the question that many ask, but few have an adequate answer. Everyone's answers are based off of stories we read, movies we see, legends we hear...


what is...the truth?...what my knowledge has to offer..


I came across an article about vampires while searching for something to read, and soemthing different to post.I'm tired of all the emo threads, and none having anything to do with vampires, when after all...this is a website where we are supposed to be helping in the discovery and education of vampyric understanding.

Ironically enough, Vampires are predators who look just like their prey. They know what they want and need and take it without remorse or second thought even if this means to occassionally harm others. The spirit, soul, perceptions, passions, and powers , are what make these creatures so distinct from what they hunt for....theyr human prey. Even if they dont want to, darker nature overcomes their every vein when animalistic instinct hits. Its like a shark when they smell blood...they go crazy, they must...FEED. No matter how hard Vampire creatures try to blend in, they can never truly belong. It is only behind the shadows that they co-exist with one another.

This is a way that I can see how they can be condemned to an eternity of solace. Their needs, their differences, are too much for the human mind to comprehend and fully accept without being critical and prejudice. As a result of thos social threshhold, Vampires tend to be attached to a more lonely environment, preferring the understanding of the shadows than rather being rejected by the majority surrounding them. They rarely interact with those who do not and could not understand....I dont blame them, I wouldnt..would you?....

Because of this seperation of Vampires from humanity, they driven and encouranged to seek others of their kind to form bonds and receive support. They can offer, undoubtedly, what humanity cannot; understanding, support, acceptance for who and what they are and also a companionship that out-shines any kind of companionship with oridinary plain humans. While they can co-exist, hold friendships and alliances with humans, romatic involvement with them rarely works out for they cannot begin to understand the life we live, unless they are truly open minded. Even then Vampires cannot connect with them on the same level that one can with another Vampire.

Vampires are perceived as intimidating, arrogant, cold, and unapproachable to others. Their predatory nature is always about them, and usually only subdued with difficulty. They will often find themselves stared at, and that those that stare often cannot meet their gaze for fear of the unknown and ignorance that permiates withing the very peak of their souls. People rarely know why and often fear for that reason...because they do not know. Children know do not fear, they are innocent and pure, and do not fully understand. They are new to the world and are not yet tainted by those around them so they are aware to the world as it truly is.Equal.

Vampires do have places that they gather together and share their cultures, beliefs etc... but its very underground and secretive, just like any other elite organization who likes to safe opposition and ignorance from their lives.

Vampirism has many different meanings, some see it as any action, act, or practice of aquiring energies, bodily fluids, and/or blood from an outside source. Some see it as a gift passed down from generation to generation as a hereditary genetic thing, while others fear it and make it seem like a taboo of society because of the sanguinian rituals performed as a form of survival ...etc..

Anyway, this is just an opinion I got from an article i read...however,any other information that you have about Vampires or creatures of the sort, I'd love to hear it and learn about it.

At first I apologize to you for not bringing anything new to this thread, but Id like to thank you for such a interesting infos for me, because Im just learning.

Id like to think about this, but so far im thinking down the lines of the perspective on life, especially when considering Human Living Vampires.

I think a perspective on the priorities of things aorund us, and the energy sources that may usually go unnoticed can open different areas of the psyche, and exually result in quite a different person. There is also whether a person adopts actual values, for instance the 13th and last piece of guidance in The Black Veil says;


Being a vampire is not just about feeding upon life. That is what we do, but not necessarily what we are. It is our place to represent darkness in a world blinded by light. We are about being different and accepting that difference as something that empowers us and makes us unique. We are about accepting the dark within ourselves and embracing that darkness to make us whole beings. We are about celebrating the thresholds: body and spirit, pleasure and pain, death and life. Our lives should be lived as a message to the world about the beauty of accepting the whole self, of living without guilt and without shame, and celebrating the unique and beautiful essence of every single soul.

Is a person chose to closely follow these ideals then a different perspective would indeed be adopted, would it not?

here's a thought...what's the point in being called a vampire if vampires are human?
That in itself doesn't quite make any sense to me esp those that are human claiming to be vampires or defining themselves as such. I would imagine that a vampire is far from human period. That's what makes them so intriquing, and fasinating because they AREN'T human. *shrugs*

im not saying that they are human, i simply said that they are predators who ironically enough, look like their prey. they are hunters, who hunt for humans.

Maybe you misunderstood when i said about how we are all equal. What i meant was, in this planet we are all equal and no race reigns supreme to another race, which is what humans seem to do to everything that is just slightly different than they are.

Ahhh, intelligence :) While we are encased in human form it is our minds and souls that are most important, we do have greater perceptions, deeper more intuitive thoughts, souls that are very evolved and I do embrace everything that I am.

People are mistaken when they think that a person who isnt a vampire can't possibly do things a vampire can which is totally wrong. I know many other people, even myself, that can do things that are just the same as what psi's describe that they can do. I wouldn't classify being able to do things psychically being vampiric unless it's taking energy from someone to benefit yourself. Even someone told me that the only reason a "vampire" can do things more mentally is because they take psychic energies from others.

Is it then, a misconception that vampires cannot be photographed or have a reflection in say a mirror?

lol even ghosts can be caught on cam or film, why would vamps be any different ?

traditionally, to human belief, it has been thought for centuries that vampires cast no reflection and have a strong repugnance towards mirrors.
reason for this is because it is believed that vampires have no reflection because back in the day it was thought that mirrors reflected your soul and creatures of 'evil' such a Vampires have no soul.

well not in my opinion they aren't. they are very much one and the same. we ourselves carry a meatshell but inside we're still souls. only ghosts dont have bodies and not all souls, ghosts, spirits are here for unfinished business. just speaking from my personal experience.

Good thread: To me a vampire is someone who is the deffinition of darkness. We are the children of the night. Not only here to feed on others but to bring others into our flock.

We are shepards for those that question whether or not the darker things they think and feel are "right," and guide them to a better understanding of such.

As far as people pondering the concept of "do we truly exist" yes. We are everywhere and to some extent everyone.

Okay here I go....

I do believe that Vampires can be seen in mirrors.

Reason being I have been around few people that have seemed and even looked souless. When you looked into thier eyes or even were around them for any length of time you could feel no life around them. They are just there. When they walked by a mirror they were seen.

I would have to say that Vampires are human like. They way they look, act mannorisms, speech, and other parts in life they would need have to blend into the world of thier prey. IF they didn't have these what would happen? They would be able to be picked out and dystroyed. For example.. what would happen in the wild if a chamelon couldn't change colors? Then his pray would be able to spot him in turn killing it before it had the chance to feed. The same as the Vampire.

A Vampire bares no soul and is " phyically dead" or also have said to " only be alive from the darkness within" Which makes me think that they wouldnt function the same was humans , even tho they resembled their prey. I am going to conterdict myself for a moment but, in the same thing they mimic or adapt to human speech and mannerisms there has to be some differences. Possibly not so much to the naked eye or human eye to see.

Vampires are different which I do see as to why they would seclude themself from humans and been more comfortable with thier own kind. for lack of a better word. BUT I just think. If you were a Vampire wouldn't you get bored with hangin with people that are EXACTLY like you. Wouldn't seeing humans in a different light make you curious or even fasinate you even more?

I know it would me.

I find it all very interesting to sit and discuss about Vampires and how we see then. Even wonder if they roam the earth.
