I would like to know your thoughts on...
Vlad the Impaler
Vlad III Dracula (also know as Vlad Tepes/Tse'pesh/ Or Vlad the Impaler)
Lived November/December, 1451-Dec 1476
Reigned as Prince of Wallachia 1448,1456-
1462 and 1476
He was born in Sighisoara, Transylvania.
Thanks to his rule, Wallachia preserved its
independence in relation with the Ottoman threat.
He is know in Turkish as "Kaziglu Bey" or "The Impaler Prince", and is a popular folk hero in Romania and Moldova even today. However he was a savage ruler - His enemies were impaled, hence his nick name.
Myself i think he was borderline crazy/genius
And also a Master of Psychological warfare.
What do you think of him?
Mmmm
Sort of thought you people were into him
Either way if your not
You are really missing out
normally i don't write in the forum, but this question appealed to me...
I used to study Vlad the Impaler to some extent and I also thought he was a master of pyschological warfare...a hero...an antihero...very devilish personality but i feel that Elizabeth Bathory was perhaps more insane than him...at least he had a so called mission...(though one based on God and vengeance)...Bathory and her vanity..was she a vampire???
I don't know...i just casted forth a myriad of thoughts...all I know is that he is not my hero and uh...yeah...pyo...any other thoughts on this???
;)
I have heard of him, but I never really looked into him. He sounds cool from your information. I think I will look it up. . . . got any good books on him that you wanna share?

This is a good page on him
Great! Lets learn sth new =)....Im gonna watch this thread.
Raises my soft bovine eyes to look at Empress, and with that gentle expession only a cow eyes can show, I look at my borderline genius and master of psychological warfare and moo, "Empress I will go off and study Vlad, and come back with a comment." It won't be as intelligent as yours because I am only a mere man.
I saw the movie... there seems to be some truth the his existance..
Haha! Miz being a cow does not suit you! OOh well Empress milk him for all he has ;)
LOL! Miss Em! The cow dance is cute! haha!
Well, for me, Vlad Tpes Dracul is just a person, doing his own thing, his own style, his own desire..
Just like all of us...
ye I heard about this story and I've found another site on him, now I'll check this site tnx empress
Prince Cancer and i may not be very
Huggie but i will say this
I think if any of you wanna know about
Vlad the Impaler
Cancer would be a good source
Don't know enough about him, but don't think he was what most people think of as a vampire. I don't think he was the first either.
a sadistic bastard but he did a good job in defending his country and in those days that's what counts
Hello . I don't really enjoy being in school but i have learned some about Vlad , as he is one of the most important rulers of Romania , and he's a big part of the history book ...
Hint : Don't believe everything you hear about him . Dracula is a FICTIONAL character , invented by some guy named Stoker . Though his means of keeping us somewhat independent were .. unorthodox .. Vlad Tepes was a great leader (compared to others) .
i would have to say that Vlad was either insane or like empress said a genius now i dont know that much about him but he sounds like a good but barbaric defender for his country
i think he is very awesome...and i am like SOO in to him..lol.......he is WAY COOL..srry i really really like him ...
Eh, He's a slight influence
But he was very sadistic....
Meh, mabey if he wasn't so dumb, he'd probably have gottem a MUCH better existance, aw well!
Vlad was from Romania and a genuis in warfare. History has recorded instances when he would cut off ambassadors heads and impale them because they refused to remove their headgear in his presence. He was also fair as well. Many stories recount his fairness(muahahahaha). As in the treatment of those who stole, of course sometimes he would set them up. Not all stories of Vlad are of wartime crimes. He began to do what he did to scare his ememies women and children so they would carry the message to the next town. Kinda like having free messanger service.Of course eventually his enemies caught up with him and did the same to him. lol
hmm... I will have to research on this guy to give a proper responce. I spent all my time studying ghengis so yeah i guess i missed out.
i like vlad but i do not follow his ways i am more of a psy vamp. but you know . i also heard that his name could also mean dragon dragons you know has a lot of energy
~vlad~
It is said that if his own men were killed on the battle fields he would have their clothing removed and have them impaled as well... made it look like he killed even more than what he did.
I'd say he was pretty smart with what he had...
Well the way I see it is that he is famous anyway... So I don't care what he did... He is the reason alot of peopel are here right now... Not all of us mind you... but alot...
*~Gylanah~*
anywhooooo... he did his job pretty well infecting people hundred of years from his death...
Yeh .. one of our country's greatest leaders , as recorded by history ..
Vlad to me was one of those legends I grew up with. He is very popular in folklore especially in Europe and even as far south as Egypt. His legend made my childhood dreams very interesting
I saw something before that said he used to drink the blood of some of the people he impaled and he used to have impaled people surrounding the dinner table.
Whoa bloodthirst you really dislike him dont you. Anyways Vlad to me was a smart ruler. My view is that whenever he impaled someone it gave him a kind of edge. What it would do is scare people away and into there place. So no I don't think he is insane. As someone saide earlier on this thread Elizabeth Bathory is probaly abit more sadistic than him.
Done some extensive reading on Vlad. Was somewhat bloodthirsty, but one man's dictator is anothe man's savior. His people regarded him as a hero. All else aside, he did protect his country well. Deserves some respect for that, if nothing else.
I believe what freaked ppl out the most wasn't that he shish-kabobed his enemies as much as the fact that he drank their blood to take in their strength....also his kills were of such mass that is what has kept him alive today.
Vlad the Impaler the originator of psychological warfare, The Man was a brilliant tactician. A very violent but yet effective ruler. A member of the Catholic Order of the Dragon. Amazing individual I hear a statue still stands in his honor in the Czech Republic.
A vampire not. A ruler yes. He was insane and a genius. It was said that he would hear voices. Taking in his own child shadowing him keeping him from his mother. The wife had gone mad and Vlad's ways made her like that. That is pretty much all I know will found more !!
i never really looked into him much but i think i will now from what ive heard i think he was prolly a little insane and prolly had a lot of mental problems but thats ok that means he was like the rest of us..;)
LOL yes thankyou Kamui...just can't believe some of what I am seein on this thread...OMG!!!!
Vlad, was one hell of a seriously fucked up dude... he enjoyed the killing like many a serial killer.. he bathed in his evil.. enjoyed the status he recieved for his crimes. he was one hell of a sick bunni simple as...
What is that bothers you Sunshine, the man was a lunatic that killed thousands of people, and I in no way agree or condone his atrocities, but he was without a doubt a brilliant warrior and tactician.
i an still young i have alot to learn but yah ill ask cancer
I am not sure exactly how I would respond to a thread like this. I know of Vlad the Impaler but that is only from watching Bram Stoker's Dracula. I have never really had the interest of learning anything about the "Vampires" of the past. I tend to look more to the future and see what kinds are being created today. However I do think we should learn a little bit about those of the past but history was always a boring subject for me in school. I will make the effort to atleast read about him but I may not retain much.
Kraven, Vlad Dracul (The Impaler) wasn't really a vampire he was simply the muse that inspired Stoker's novel.
Though he definitely would put some of the so called vampires of today to shame.
if you want to know more, look for work's by author Raymond t. Mcnally, he teache's a course in boston university all on dracula
