What is really the importance of a vampire....I mean to say does it provide some comfort or rush??

Does it sooth people to learn more of a mythical being who does not exist except by people copying him and sucking on blood?

And why is it so important to people that when they are told they are not a true vampire like dracula when people are only being honest with them.

I am just trying to understand the psychological effect for the most part in this matter.

Everyone wants to be better than what they are. If they have the opportunity to convince themselves that something is real, many will leap at the opportunity. Look at the people who claim to be vampires specifically as a reaction to Twilight. They wish they could be something so "perfect," and they get upset that someone is dragging them back to reality. They don't want to hear the truth. They don't want to face reality. It's easier to fantasize about an imaginary world where you're better than what you are than it is to actually get up and do something about your situation.

La6Muerte66 hit it right on the head.

We always dream of a better life, whether it is fictional or just fantasies in the mind to escape so a hard and cruel world. With times th way they are lately, many people are fantasing more. whether on an island vacation or whatever.

we always escape in troubled times a human trait to say the least. yet we at some point must come back to reality.

It reminds me of (to cite an extreme, fictional example) the main character in Lovecraft's Celephaiis. A man dreams he is the king of a glorious city of marble and gems, and he is so obsessed by the dream that he spends the rest of his waking life pursuing sleep and the fantasy. He ends up in a mental institution. People want their moments of happiness, basking in the fantasy of what they can never have, but it can lead to distorted perceptions of reality. If you want something badly enough, you're liable to convince yourself that it IS real, rather than just wishing. At a point, some people will get hostile when such delusions are challenged.

Role playing characters, and assumed identities, are alter ego, a role player to a much lesser degree then an AIC (Assumed identity complex).

When I read post from professed vampires I observe an excessive disdain
for role players, a system that adopts, and developed lore, and fiction attributes, and "practices" of vampires, in a structured game.

Another observation is from the common refrain" I don't care what people think." So that when they are not openly accepted in a social setting, it is not because they lack social engaging skills, it is because ( in their reasoning) they are vampires, if you cannot accept that, and endorse that, and relate to that, then you are beneath them.. And their kind..

A group.. (Unseen group) is always alluded to, this is granduer of alluded number, "The community.." when if pressed (even by a fellow believer) for commity info they are likely to balk.

So a pretense to socialize is another motivator for assumed identity, which brings the third.
Some are "bluffing" for the previous reason. Though they are not as likely to be as much believers, these are usually people with natural occuring curiousity.

People also like to make others uncomfortable in their presence, these are the AICs that allude to people who are indifferent, or unaccepting of their assertions, and claims Fear somehow.

I have a mother in law who has the power to drain me of my energy because she is very emotionally deprived. Have you ever had this expirience? well this is vampirerism. many people do it and don't even realize.
I have the ability to get needed energy through breathing excersizes and meditation. I am sure I drain other people, too.

I have messaged with a few people on this site who have phased out of the
Scene, the usual reason involves head games, and having an opinion dictated.

My question would involve what invokes such disdain for role players, and lifestylers, from the obscure splinter factions?

Their is obviously classification among those who profess being vampires ( as they define, and adapt the predominatly mythological creature.)

"If this is true do you believe that this is why a site like this is so grasping of a persons mind because it helps them live there vampuric ways easier without critism??"

I think this site, with the name and the focus, gives people with unrealistic desires the opportunity to converse with like-minded individuals. In a society dominated by dogmas that shun the darker aspects of life, it's comforting to know, or at least think, that there are others that feel the same way. I joined when I personally believed in psychic vampirism, the supernatural, etc. I joined because I saw the chance to learn about the "condition" as well as teach others what I'd learned. It's comforting to feel that other people think like you, whether or not your beliefs are realistic or not.

Obscure Splinter factions are usually something an individual who was not compatible (in idealism) with other organized collectives, or they have obvious ego based agendas, they go and appeal to others who are more sensational (or proclaim to start another " truer" collective.

Such Factions usually are very indiscriminate with behavior, and acceptance, leaving a bad impression, misrepresentation, onto established collectives. So if a collective is already "far out of the mainstream" and someone always feels the need (usually a socio-path personality) to be farther out. I find people who assume titles, and are refuted in organized collectives are a prime example of Splinter faction "Leaders/starters".

Vampirisim is often referred to as "the condition," as it was defined by authors like Michelle Belanger as a condition (not necessarily a bad one) of the astral body. I don't presume it is anything outside of the imagination nowadays.

Initially, when I was looking for like-minded individuals and a place to learn, this site did suit my needs quite well. Now I'm more in the position of engaging in debate than learning about what I consider to be an imaginary condition.

Vampirism is defined. There are people who try to mimick vampires that probably once were, and if there were they are not blood sucking. all of them, and most of them, are psi vamps or sexual vamps.
It would most definitely be hard to be a real vampire today with all the diseases out there.

One question that keeps coming to mind, involves not only those who would have others accept them as what they believe/ profess to be, is what practical, or any application, or purpose does doing so serve. Example not believing, and subscribing to Most religious beliefs have the "consequences" of seperation from some reward, or condemns the "soul" to suffer..

I also notice a pattern of casual berating of role players, and those who engaged in creative application of a lore, Why are Those who profess vampires threatened by such a game? Perhaps they are upset that it shows how remarkable familiar it is to the claimed "different" vampire attributes?

So are you primarily talking about religion or vampires now because I don't want this post closed do to religious talk....I know you will understand that.

Now as for the post itself exactly what type of berating are you talking about because there are three different types??

And in this state you call role-playing what is it that exactly defines it as that?

"Clinical Vampirism"
(Taken from Wikipedia)

"Renfield's syndrome, also called simply Renfield syndrome and traditionally known as clinical vampirism [1] [2] [3], though not currently categorized in the DSM-IV, is a mental disorder used to describe an obsession to drink blood. [4] The term was first coined by Richard Noll and is named after Dracula's insect-eating assistant, Renfield, in the novel by Bram Stoker. [2] [5] [6] The term has been used in both psychiatric and fictional literature, as well as on television, where it was briefly mentioned in an episode of CSI titled "Committed" (Season 5, Episode 21). [7] [2]

"People who suffer from this condition are primarily male. The craving for blood arises from the idea that it conveys life-enhancing powers. According to Noll, the condition starts with a key event in childhood that causes the experience of blood injury or the ingestion of blood to be exciting. After puberty, the excitement is experienced as sexual arousal. Throughout adolescence and adulthood, blood, its presence, and its consumption can also stimulate a sense of power and control. Noll explains that Renfield's syndrome begins with autovampirism and then progresses to the consumption of the blood of other creatures. [2]

"The usefulness of this diagnostic label remains in question. Very few cases of the syndrome have been described, and the published reports that do exist refer to what has been proposed as Renfield's syndrome through the use of official psychiatric diagnostic categories such as schizophrenia or as a variety of paraphilia. A number of murderers have performed seemingly vampiric rituals upon their victims. Serial killers Peter Kürten and Richard Trenton Chase were both called "vampires" in the tabloids after they were discovered drinking the blood of the people they murdered. Similarly, in 1932, an unsolved murder case in Stockholm, Sweden was nicknamed the "Vampire murder", due to the circumstances of the victim’s death.[8]."

Vampires seem to have a certain mystical sense to them. There's the fact of living forever, and there's also the fact of them being just a bit different, as most of us are. The night is a mysterious time as it is, and the fact of thinking of things in the night makes it even more interesting. Vampires have been apart of culture forever and will be so forevermore.

In response, some go back to reality as you say, yet some still clinge onto a better realm in which they may hold dear. We all asume role playing in life or acting like someone different even to escape some of the concepts of the real world.

Like a child clinging to a teddy bear, is for comfort and we as adults do the same. The fasination with the lore and movies bring us here and deep down the idea of vampires would in some way be delightful. yet we must still tolerate the crushing real world.

A minority, Christians even have denominations, and factions. So if that is all it is,( I relate to you Doru, vampires as a religion isms definitive) then fine, but then fanatics will ride the wave to umbrella extreme ideals, using the cover of other adapted application if vampires. Before you know it you are represented ( clumped) in with people that go around extorting people claiming affiliation with an organization that is strictly symbolic.

please consider the following question, if you chse not to answer please state why, many have ignored this question in the past.

What threat, offense is there to those who identify as vampires from nonbrluevers on this site?

How do you feel the threads would develop?

What could a person( a nonvampire person) gain from subscribing to your beliefs?

Is convincing others you are a vampire important to you? How so?

Of course I doubt anyone will snswer such questions, but many will refute them.

With any culture they are shunned from society for their beliefs and many keep certain things hid from those close. Look back at our history and the things that caused racism within our own communities. Vampires and the belief is no different.

Fear is the lack of knowledge within the realm, for if a subject(we will say) is unknown than mass hesteria and outward rejection of society takes place. we must accept or understand and take the beliefs of someone as their own and not the mass. for everyone is blessed with their own society structure in this world.

Dabbler I know you are professing to me, yet proven theries or not, prove that vampires do not infact exist.

Beliefs or not we are tuned to the lives we live. do i profess I am vampire, No. But love the lmystery and life of them. Energy gathered from others makes me feel more energized within life. But we must realize that cultures and identies will remain even if the scientific world do not want to reconize the culture or not.

Dabbler I like a good arguement as much as you and a few others, yet the life style and beliefs are for the individuals own taste. it is not me to mock that.

It is not for them to impress their beliefs, and assumed Identity on others. To say that they expect to not be mocked, is to be ignorant to the blantant denouncements, and invectives pitched from those who profess their assumed identies make them superior beings.. to those who are rather entertained by simply accepting the lore, and creativity, like somehow you are enlightened beyond Make believe, yet you cannot step out of your assumed role..

The constant alluding to non believers "fearing" that you are actually
an enhanced being, is rather trite, and egotistical.. I could careless if you believed you were a Snuffleufagus, but when you denounce others who claim to be just as much a snuffleufagus as you are, look and tell me who mocks who?

Fear has never been an issue, and with Twilight out in some much popularity we see more of a surge on this sight and other vampiric movies. A collector of horror movies I have seen the increase in price of all golden reels of hollywood.

To assume, logic or not is not the case, saying one is vampiric is more of a inner feeling or belief. i have stated life style before yet we all know this is on the feeling on what they do on every day life.

logical answer is not there something others may not realize. much like any faith or veiw on global standing. there is no right or wrong, when it is your belief and choice.

"Without power you cannot instill fear."

Correction: without the appearance of power, you cannot instill fear. As long as people think you have power, whether you have it or not, they will fear you. There will always be people who call you out on it though. That's just a part of life.

All the while desperatetly seeking to convince others that of all those who profess to be a vampire in any definition or adaptation, that theirs is the most "solid" case. There are numerous post to support this , the factions
are always posturing, calling each others wanna bes. What prey tell is so attractive about any collective that whines about allesged persecution, and takes all disbelief as offensive, and openly disdains people who engage in creative theatricsal role playing, if not for lore their would be no vampire ,
Without early mans superstition their would be no ghidt animated corpses
Roaming around drinking blood. Please present any accredited source to refute this, so many claim such documentation exist .. Your convintion lacks
Believablity, I have read only one Academic account in defining summary
I have a new found understanding for those who adopted the varied nomeclature
Vampyre.

"What is really the importance of a vampire....I mean to say does it provide some comfort or rush??

Does it sooth people to learn more of a mythical being who does not exist except by people copying him and sucking on blood?

I am just trying to understand the psychological effect for the most part in this matter."

There is no real importance of the vampire. There is no comfort, no rush, no experiances toward anything positive to look forward to.

Does it sooth? This to me seems more of a rhetorical question that does not deserve the slightest or even common sense response from me.

I will also add, that there are certain individuals that have attributes within their physical and mental nature that do ascribe to what society deems worthy to call "vampire." It is just another word to describe the stereotype that society has by definition for the creature.

"And why is it so important to people that when they are told they are not a true vampire like dracula when people are only being honest with them."

This question is the most ignorant of the whole thread. Once again it takes into credibility of how out of focus a few members on here there actually are. DRACULA was not vampire. Plain and simple. Don't critisize Vlad for something he was most assuredly not. HE was a HERO to his people. NUFF SAID!

If you want total and brutal honesty...Those who claim to have lived over one hundred years and who think themselves to be "immortal" are surely mistaken. As this is completely impossible. The true vampire is neither immortal, nor lives for hundreds of years.

Next time, at least make a thread that makes a bit of sense instead of a rant that should be placed within your journal.

Soulshroude,

I think that instead of being a complete arse about it all and just whining that maybe you could have provided some information worth discussing or questions that could have made it.....what was the word you used.

I think it was "rhetorical" so that way answers could be found because last time I checked when I was a Viper on here they didn't make the forum posts for people to complain in.

And if it was a rant and not something worthy of discussion then I am sure the Dominars would have RIA'd it long before you could have complained about it.

maybe it can be simplified like this....

the "importance" of "being" a vampire to some people in 2009 id their fix. their comfort or rush.

some people choose the bible, or cocaine, or womens rights, or "being" "emo". some people do MMA, some go to bars, some sleep on their spouse, some play video games, or compulsively shop, etc etc etc.

and for some they "are" a vampire.

it takes all kinds... or shall i say we HAVE all kinds.
thats why baskins & robbins ice cream shops has a few dozen flavors.

all the same... some of us are ok without an ice cream cone...

If it was a rush to be a vampire, would it not actually dimish with time, yet our culture has seen this movement or group for several years.
a culture within a culture, and it has not diminished at all, and with twilight has seem to gain more ground.

with this than the rush would not effect all people the same in beliefs and standings of this wave. Not a drug that can be cut off from their grasp. It continues long after most of us shall persih.

yea...
and long after we perish there will be organized religion, compulsion, materialism, addiction, proclaimed ideologies and mythologies.
humans are creatures of habit and repeat themselves over & over. the MYTH of vampirism is no more credible or special than god-complex, use of alcohol, apprecation of art/music, etc.

old habits die hard, if at all....

It is implied that if you do not believe vampires exist, that it is wrong. You imply that all that is accepted as fiction is wrong. Get a new name, I smoke sick of the floppy logic, and irrational babble.. Beliefs are nothing more then accepted illusions.. I would question every poster in this threads conviction .. Even if I. Elieves and professed to be a vampire.. Please restate your question. Your tact to confibble is rather amusing at first, but let's talk like grown ups.

I never impiled that those who do not believe vampires exist are wrong or ilogical, and each have their own skeptism on this topic.

Without skeptism many of the world falacicy may have never been shown, Think of the sailors that thought the world was flat, all the irrational ideas and skeptism that they achieved during that time. And yet it was shown to be round.

Skeptism sparks the imagination of those looking for answers within riddles of the mind and the illusion world between fact and fiction.

Vampires given from myth is noted, yet has our culture come with their ideas structures in life given a whole different aspect to vampiric lore, True and other name given would eventually come back to the vampiric name.

SS,that is part of the argument, there are those who have actually professed that. And that they,in some way are magical and not human. This is why so many peeps have a problem with those who make these claims.
The deffinition is too Ambiguous. And what deffinition there is,just really cant be possible..as far as humans go.

Just change the Nomeclature already, that is a fallicy to assume that all names would come back to vampire, that is very presumtious.

The truth is likely closer to the affluence of such a name. People Identifying as Gnomes is not very likely.

Thank oceanne, I claim I shall die hopefully when I grow old. But i do see the skeptism presented.

Fictional aspects of vampires in movies, we as humans could never have these traits, ideas of writers toi give their monsters the ability to come back in the next movie is all that is.

So detatch yourself from the vampire label if that is what you are not. See how irrational, and how the logic fails. You cannot be concsious of vampires, and claim to be one, and then declare that the definition is wrong, unless you refute so academically. You said it your self, you are human you are not vampire. But then you disqualify logic when you say, not like those Hollywood, myth vampires.. so you are somehow attempting to place your self in a position to imply that the old accepted Definition( and as Upir shows us academic study of the origin of the concept) is obsolete.

So your position is unsupported with any documented ammending definition.

Like trying to cram suppliments into encylopidias.

Tje pursuit of sensationalism evolved through degrees of intensity, vampires are to most blasé .. even to fans, so the progresion to pretend to be vampires saits the sensational fit a brief time.. Then when that pretend fix doesn't work, they progress to professing to be vpires.

About the Phaistos Disc...

More information from a less pseudo-archaeological source can be found at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phaistos_Disc

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phaistos_Disc_decipherment_claims

And for an interesting bit of news, take a look at:

http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/visual_arts/article4318911.ece

Either it's a fraud, or it's an interesting bit of history constructed using a technology that was ahead of its time. Either way, it had nothing to do with vampires, and has no definite translation. Some "proof"...

It would support the speculation that a cult perhaps had blood rites, I would speculate further that they had a creative name that represented them exclusively.

I could akso support speculation that people where convinced because of their lack of knowledge) superstitions, and personafied those superstitions
And then claimed rites to manipulate the "forces" . Any such cult would be wise to not attend such claims, or even affiliation tow traditional represented parasit if monster.

Here we go once more...

"I think it was "rhetorical" so that way answers could be found because last time I checked when I was a Viper on here they didn't make the forum posts for people to complain in."

the definition of "rhetorical": NOUN: A question to which no answer is expected.

Therefore, your whole statement is flawed. answers cannot be found if no answer is expected. As for the Viper comment, you hypocrite yourself by complaining about my post.

Anywho...As I have stated before, there is no real importance of being vampire. No one is to judge save for those individuals out there that have a common interest of confusing us with the fictional character. Which I see happens quite often. No, I will show no physical proof since none is really needed. I am not a science experiment. I just state my opinion on the matter because this is what the forum is used for.

I side with both the skeptics, as well as part of those of whom think they know what they are talking about because both sides have valid points. Therefore, I will take no sides at all. But please, next time just message me instead of taking up needed space. It is much easier this way.

The only reason why I post that comment within this thread, is to let everyone know how I feel and not just one individual.

A similar object was uncovered five years later in an excavation around the city currently called Ismir in Turkey.
Archeologists were excited about the second find, but soon became disheartened as the symbols were not the same. While the Phaistos Disc remains a mystery and possibly a historical anomaly, the second Disc, commonly referred to as the Belzeit Tablet, has been partially decoded in the late 20th century. What it has revealed is both startling and exciting.

For lack of a poetic description, the Belzeit Tablet was created by a unique Mystery Cult operating in the shadow of the ancient Greek city-states with clear connection to Egypt and the Hebrew tribes on the other side of the Mediterranean Sea. This cult practiced a ritualistic worship of beings best described as vampires.

Whether these vampiric beings truely existed or were simply a variant on the Bacchus rites that were performed is still left for debate among the scholars. On the disc, there were over eighteen glyphs represented, but only six have been fully translated and understood. Presented, for the first time on the internet, are the six glyphs and their interpreted meanings.

Balance

With balance comes harmony. Keeping things in balance is difficult. For the vampire, there are more personal issues that need to be kept in balance: predator-prey, passion-reason, lust-restraint, and violence-peace. Each needs to be exercised equally or harmony is lost. All of one thing, no matter how well intentioned or how well presented, will throw the balance off, disrupting the harmony, and destroying order.

Beast

Instinct plays a vital role. When a vampire looks at another she can see the raw primal force that lurks. Every calm is followed by a storm. The longer the calm the more violent the storm. Vampire respect the beast, as it is the instinct that drives passion and curiousity. the beast pushes boundaries, tests limits, and throws all caution to the wind. The beast is neither stupid nor intelligent. The beast is pure instinct.

Blood

Blood represents two important things to the vampire. It represents their existence. It is their source of strength and power. But it also represents their greatest weakness. The lust for blood has clouded the judgment of many. Are vampire powerful because of their reliance on blood, or are they powerful because of the control they have over their addiction. No matter which, the addiction is a downward spiral that inevitably ends in personal destruction for the weak.

City

Cities represent the development of civilization and the inevitable collapse of civilization. Vampire have witnessed this cycle over and over. When a vampire sees something being built, she can remember what used to be at that location before and knows that eventually the current structure will collapse over time, or be demolished. No empire lasts forever.

Reaper

Harvest is a time of death and a time of cleansing. The concept of death to the immortal loses meaning over time. It becomes less a time to fear but a time to be cleansed. A vampire knows that once a generation she needs to cleanse herself and begin anew in order to perpetrate her unnatural existence among mortals. Ending are beginnings.

Sun

Contrary to popular belief, vampires do not curse the Sun any more than a man who cannot swim curses the ocean. The Sun to the vampire represents the inevitable. There are many things once cannot have any control over, even if one is immortal. The Sun represents all that cannot be controlled. It is a fact that must be endured and worked around."

nightmare-factory.myrealboard.com is NOT a scientific source of information. it is an online forum-based community. Copy/pasting someone's un-referenced post does not make your claim any more valid. Unless you can find an actual news article or better yet, archaeological EVIDENCE that the tablet is something more than the invention of the author, you're just digging yourself into a deeper pit.

yet when we talk of Importance of vampires, do we think of the movement within the culture. Is the vampiric movement good for society or a burden on us.

All humans need some release from the pressures of the everday life, yet not only the younger generation coming to these sites and clubs within society, we see more adult partaking in this.

Some do come for knowledge and understanding. others have other personal reasons they come. We see on all vampiric sites like this one a mix of witches, wicca, werwolves, vampires and some dragons. why are they coming to this site, to date, find others that have same traits or beliefs on this subject.

So skeptism of them or or some say their lack of realism is abundant but it is showwn all over the world. a driving force that keeps the myth of vampires in everyday life.

There are all kinds of myths that are all over the world in some respect or another, and they are all as varied as the vampire myth. Dragons, for example, have different traits and personalities when you compare the myths by culture. People who read the H.P. Lovecraft mythos often like to imagine a world in which Cthulhu, R'lyeh, and the rest of the mythos are more than fantasy from the mind of a madman (face it, Lovecraft was a bit insane - it seems to be the mark of a good author). But the fact that these myths may become rather widespread, even like the Cargo Cults of the South Pacific, but that doesn't have any effect on the realism of the myths. They're just appealing.

many myths do scour our world, and with these myths come some followers in their ways. (vampires, cuthulu, etc.)

Skeptism is brought and present on valued points in which the two will always fight. This is the meaning of life. to think logical that the sky is blue and have points to show that it is blue.

An Early Case: The Vampire of Sacramento

"Vampire of Sacramento", police sketchRichard Trenton Chase, the "Vampire of Sacramento," was quickly identified and apprehended with the help of a psychological profile in 1978. He had murdered a woman in her home, eviscerating her and drinking her blood. It was so brutal that the FBI was called in, and it gave the profilers a chance to show what they were worth. Agents Robert Ressler and Russ Vorpagel developed independent profiles, and both wrote about this case in their respective books.

Ressler says it was the first time he was able to go on-site with a profile, and he was ready. He offers a step-by-step method analysis for how he derived the traits he lists. For example, from a psychiatric study of body type and mental temperament he'd read, he decided the offender was scrawny. Given the disorder at the scene, it was likely that the UNSUB did not have a career or much education - nothing that required organized thinking and concentration. The profile was all a matter of logic and knowledge about principles of human behavior, which Ressler was able to fully explain to anyone who asked. Vorpagel's profile was similar.

Ressler figured the UNSUB for a disorganized killer as opposed to an organized one, with clues pointing toward the possibility of paranoid psychosis. He clearly had not planned the crime and did little to hide or destroy evidence. He left footprints and fingerprints, and had probably walked around oblivious to the blood on his clothing. In other words, he gave little thought to the consequences. His domicile would be as sloppy as the place he had ransacked, and his mental capacity was likely screwed up. That meant he probably did not drive a car, indicating he lived in the vicinity of the crimes. He was white, 25-27, thin, undernourished, lived alone, and probably had evidence that pointed to the crime in his home. He was likely unemployed and the recipient of disability money. All of this was derived from known information that such crimes tended to be intra-racial, specific to a certain age range, and similar to other people with a paranoia-based mental illness. From what Ressler knew, it was also likely that this offender would kill again, and keep on killing until he was caught. They had to work fast.

Richard Trenton ChaseThree days after the first murder, the killer struck again, this time slaughtering three people in their home, including a man and a child. He grabbed a baby and stole the family car, but then abandoned it in broad daylight. This suggested an oblivious, unhinged mind and offered more information for refining the profile. Ressler and Vorpagel were sure he lived close to both scenes, and after a massive manhunt the police found Chase living less than a block from the abandoned car. His appearance was just as anticipated and he suffered from paranoid delusions. He was also 27 years old. Body parts, empty pet collars, and a bloodstained food blender were found in his apartment. He lived alone, was unemployed, and had a history of psychiatric incarceration. He had been released only months before he began to kill. His arrest stopped a string of murders that apparently, from marks on his calendar, was to include some 44 more victims that same year.

Vorpagel faced this man in the interrogation room, and Chase admitted he had committed the murders, but had done nothing wrong. He was saving his own life, because his blood was turning to sand and he needed theirs to prevent it. Talking to someone like Chase helped to confirm what the profilers thought, and it was cases such as this that gave Ressler an idea."

The story demonstrates that one's belief controls what you are labeled. Many people doubted Richard Trenton Chase's belief that he was a vampire, yet his actions labeled him as a vampire by society. A vampire is a label given to those who believe they are when they act upon those traits, whether you believe or not.

I'm not following you, the connection between the article, and whstvyou are relating is vague? It appears you are presenting an observation relating to social identity.. Please cut and paste that which leads you to your conclusion.

personally i think it is ESSENTIAL to these threads, for any of us to learn a bloody thing, is for there to be folks who challenge things like labels, lexicon, narrowmindedness, self-absorption, "argument from ignorance", and wanton beliefs in unscientific speculations that people find so self important.

i also find it humorous how offended some people get when individuals post logical and cutting points that challenge the cultish (and dare i say mythologically childish) ideas that some people have self procaimed themselves "vampires".

"being" a vamp is only as important to an individual as it is to them. it's almost comical when these count choculas get all bent out of shape when faced with other people asking for proof. WE CAN TELL OURSELVES WE ARE ANYTHING. does it make it real? only in our heads... so why are we some so insecure and upset when their self-proclaimed vampiric importance challenged?

how bout this... if ANYONE on this site is a TRUE REAL HONEST TO GOODNESS VAMP... make me one. because i want immortality, seduction, flight, to walk amongst shadows, etc.

don't give me this shit "i'm not ready". i've been fascinated with vampire for about 35 years... so if i can be one PLEASE help!

on that note i want to be a JEDI... so if there are any real JEDI out there could one approach me and take me on as a padawan? there must be someone out there who believes they are a jedi - so therefore they ARE. so if that's the case HELP me!! i want to learn the way of the force.

better yet... maybe i can be lucky enough and be turned a vampire and trained as a jedi. hopefully i can still be resistent to kryptonite...

What social application does proclaiming, and convincing others into subscribing to your assumed identity?

Those who profess to be vampires are pictures by me to present themselves as their assumed idrntities, so anyone who is indifferent ( unreactive) to, or openly request supporting evidence, definition, summary, of historic documentation ( in context with their adapted, and adopted persona, of a mythical creature, bolstered by superstitious folk.

If I've understood your question properly, yes, I think the desire to incite fear is part of the motivation behind those who claim to be vampires. They want to feel and/or appear powerful, hopefully making people fear them. It may be assuming too much, but perhaps the reason they want people to fear them is because they can't get attention any other way, as if becoming friends failed, so they're taking the alternate route.

Though most people probably just do it to fit in or feel special.

a common denominator in people who assume identities is repressed creativity. A vampire identity involves taking/ draining, many see the world as take of be had, Suck, or be the sucker. The absolute evasion of any request for an amendment to the mythology of a vampire ( notable excluding weaknesses, and banes) .

The more that humor ( for social avceptance under pretense of reverance)them, or are easily impressed upon. Who gains more, the person professing to be a vampire being believed, or the person subscribing to their
Assumed identity.

All this.. Well beliefs are like sacred, no it us not a belief anymore, stop gumming the topic.. This is about your conviction, based on apparent charactoristics, get a video camera, and VuTube yourself. Otherwise you are
declaring hyperbole, based on makeing believe , you are not pretending to be a vampire.
