so over time i have read a lot of different things on the relationship between vampires and witches. some things say that they are like sworn enimies and others say that it depends if there is money involved, and others just presume that all walks of like get alonge and are best friends. can some one expline this to me?
Wiccans have nothing to do with vamps
There's is no reason why they should fight not a reason to be best friends
Depends on the individual
I would not say 'sworn' enemeies, each coven and each house has its unique set of geo-political relationships...but one point is that the Vamps are Left Hand Path - 'Do What Thou 'Wilt' (inner choice) and Wiccans are Right Hand Path - 'Do What Thy Wilt' (outer choices)
it's just like the rest of the world, each situation is different...
if your asking are there any blood feuds between different families of the night, their probably are, but as a general rule I don't think so...
forgot my point...LOL
So, they often have conflicting views on how one should approach not only magicks, but life in general...
Well, lets say first off that not all witches are "Wiccans". Although I've seen that most witches and vamps disagree on many things, they can get along the same way that anyone else with conflicting opinions do. The whole "agree to disagree" thing. And if money is involved... hey all the better then. lol
Hmm... I don't really think there is a reason to hate them, unless given one. There isn't a pre-desposed reason is what i am saying.
Well, most people see "witches" and think "Wiccans" right away.
some one who in general knows the magick and does not follow any of the religious guidlines persay
that's just ritualistic magick!
Anyway still the answer is wrong
then what?
the only other witches I know of are the ones that create a link to otherdimensional creatures that aren't very nice...drawing there magicks or whatever from them and allowing them a portal into this world...and I don't like the thought of those...
I Apologise..Meant no..It still depends on the individual
Whoa! Let's not make any assumptions about witches, OK? First, not all witches are Wiccan. Second, most witches use magic with good intentions, not bad (ie: summoning evil creatures).
As for the original question, I don't think there is any sort of sworn animosity. Magic users tend to have very strong opinions regarding their craft, so it is likely that feuds have gone on, but not as a general rule.
"If anything has a conflict with itself, don't believe it."
i have met witches who have a conflicting view on vampyres but personally i dont see a reson why they shouldnt get along?
I agree with anything NonMortusEst69 say's he's a smart fellow! LOL
I don't agree with everything he says but he is right this time... heh. You can't make generalizations like that really, it entirely depends on the individuals. (Such as vampires and lycans aren't supposed to get along either..)
Well...like I said, I don't really know the difference between a Wiccan and a witch, so I am as confused as the rest...
Maybe I will, when the subject interests me enough to divert time from other pressing work.
I can ony comment on my my understanding, if I am wrong, which it appears is the case, then I would for someone to construtively correct me.
"all wiccans are witches but not all witches are wiccan" is a pretty common phrase among pagans. To make it easy for everyone to understand, try this variation:
"all christians believe in God, but not all believers in God are christian".
Wicca is a religion. Paganism is a lifestyle.
Thank you Oblyvia for putting into words what I couldn't.. heh. I'm not so good in that department sometimes. Nor is constructive criticism. I prefer to just yell and rant and throw things about in a pointless manner.
I can understand though how it would be that vampires and witches don't get along. Vampires destroy life, whereas (some) witches protect and cherish it. Especially among Wiccans with the whole "And it harm none, do as thy will" or however that gets worded nowadays. It would surly present a conflict of interest.
I am not sure that the generalisation of vampires fits their being wholly destructive either...just as I know that there are not so beneficient witches, I know that there are 'bad' vamps, but there are also those that cherish life as much as any other person does...
That's exactly what I meant really. The generalizations of the two would present a conflict. But as not all vamps or witches fit their given generalizations, it would be untrue.
WhiteTrashDruid, you have to have lost your sanity to agree with me on all views
*giggles as total pun was intended by that last statement!
Stabb666, Well stated.
Now, regarding vampires, witches and wiccans:
First, being a Wiccan Priest I do not make any distinctions between witches and wiccans; I do distinguish between good witches and bad witches.
Second, I never met a Vampire I didn't like.
Third, I have met many witches who I would never care to associate with.
Forth, Stabb666's first post was right on the money!
Fifth, crappy spells in "How to do Magic" books never work... correctly.
And finally, do not play in things you you do not know about.
Uneducated witches are always the scariest people to me. Being a Wiccan or a witch is a spiritual choice, do not be a sheep and lead easily astray. Research, research, research. Learn about the various religious aspects of them before choosing a path. And find people who know their stuff.
Damn! How did I end up with this soap box again?
*sets the box aside for later use*
And anyone who has met a couple of witches is likely confused about them all! LOL
*ducks from all the curses being flung at him*
I never had any sanity left to lose really. Any lingering amounts disappeared when Lucios showed up in my life.
Wow. Being a Wiccan priest I figured you of all people would know the difference between a witch and a wiccan. But then I guess not everyone has as open views of religion.
i never hear that witches and vampyres were friends or foes. i thought we were just different walks of life.
In my family's history, there are witches. At first I never got along with vampires and despised them. But then I've found that I enjoy feeding on energy and I have been around other energy vampires and I find them enjoyable creatures. I'm not sure exactly what to say on the matter. I don't think we are sworn enemies.
i do believe it would have to depend on the individual whom is either a vampire or wiccan. but i've heard of them fight or be friends so it would all depend i guess
Well spoken ambrosius! Though I do make a distinction between Wiccans and witches, I agree fully with your post. Research, education and self-actualization is SO important. If only more people knew not to dabble until they were really truly ready...
i'm with oblyvia on this one ambrosius...
over the years she and I and a few other have debated this same topic to utter death and we always concluded that there is a difference between a wiccan witch....and a witch
wicca is but one path in ritual paganism
granted it is by far the most widely known and folllowed....but it is still only one of them...
some others are druidism, shamanism, and santeria......there are many others....but my brain is asleep
but as to the topic....the only reason there would be animosity....is if the two chose for there to be animosity
not all witches are wiccan green witches have no quarrel with anyone . but will defend themselvs and loveones if attacked
Maybe it is easier for a vampire to contact a witch (or visa versa) because they both have a deeper connection in the world of magic. So if they don't get along they might REALLY not get along. I dont know I'm rambling.
Perhaps this will make the witch or wiccan deal more clear:
Wiccans say "An ye harm none do as ye will."
Witches say "Do as ye will."
Wiccans are right hand path, witches are more left hand path.
All wiccans can be considered witches, they merely differ when it comes to methode de magica and worldview. They both have the good and bad practioners.
Most wiccans would be horrified at the concept of vampirism, never realising the energies they raise during ritual are by definition vampiricly related. Wiccans tend to beseech godtypes for thier magics and blessings. They say "may XXXXXX bless this chalice."
Most witches are more understanding about syphoning power from another willing being and are a little more, shall I say worldwise? Most have developed capabilities that would block psy feeders and are aware of them and the spirit worlds. They stray closer to left hand path work though they may still use godtypes. They might say either "I bless this chalice" or "In the name of XXXXX I bless this chalice."
A wiccan would view a feeding vampire with confusion but thier compassion woulf force them to some degree of tolerance of another's difference. It would be more of a struggle to allow them to have thier truth.
A witch would view a feeding vampire much like they would view yesterday's left over cold sandwich. When you're hungry you eat what is available even though it may not be pleasant. They would also strive to learn why it is that way and if it was something that could fit thier personal worldview then they would accept it and use the knowledge like a torch to see what else has suddlenly been illuminated.
A vampire is more likely to run afoul of wiccans, but there is much more danger should they run afoul of the wrong witch.
I think I better give this soap box back.
They are not enemies in any case... I'm a vampyre who is a practicing witch. Which causes me problems sometimes, but it has helped me alot. 80% of my friends are witches and they all know who I am and sometimes they joke with me and other times they comfort me when I'm struggling with something.
STABB has a good point about the paths... however, in terms of real life, it is like saying that no people of opposite beliefs get on. It can happen, but those who look beyond a philosophy and see the person know much better.
See what happens when I leave my soap box out for anyone? LOL
Thanks CygnusNoir!
I don't see a reason why a witch should be enemies with vamps.. maybe because of the believe where vamps came from..
I suppose that would all depend on your origin beliefs. However, if omeone told you tat everyone with brown hair originated from something evil, that woudln't necessarily mean that it was true, or that you can generalise everyone.
Its person first, then vampire/witch.
Exactly, people will always get into fights and not like eachother.
Just the way it is hee hee
But that really shouldn't be any excuse for our race, should it?
Is it being said that a vampire cannot e a witch? As I am sure that there are many people here who will testify otherwise.
Nah, it is possible for a vampire to be a witch. I would think a vampire would be a better witch at some point.
Why do you think that? DO you mean something to do with the perspectives on life, or something more??
Possibly perspective, frame of mind can change Everything.
Plus, it does take some bit of magic to make a vampire. I'm not saying only vampires would make good witches. Humans can have deep connections as well. I don't know I worded it badly. meh
No, I understand what you mean. I'd define that 'bit of magic' as the important root tothe environment, and te determination within a being. Thats quite an undetailed description but, going from your point, I think you understand what I mean :-)
Yeah i get it, I'm just hungry, and the topic is interesting, but I'm lazy and stupid.
:-) what you post definately does NOT point to stupidity... but go feed :-)
Don't seea reason for animosity or being enemies. If a vampire don't harm the other prerson (and that can happen), then it doesn't affect the postulate be harm to none. My sister is wiccan. I used to be wiccan. Don't see areason for that. But as said here. There are witches I wouldn't like to spend time with, and there are vampires that really pisses me off. it is about personality. there are my two cents *ducking from surses too*
