Please check out this article online: Confessions of a Psychic Predator prior to responding.
A lot of people among the vampire community hold the concept of the Black Veil very near and dear to their lifestyle. They drink blood or absorb energy from donors, often referred to as Black Swans.
But what happens when you have no donor as a psy vamp and can find no other means of sustenance? I would like to open discussion on the forum as to whether vampirism in the predatory sense is moral or amoral?
What response does this article raise in your mind and heart?
I might as well respond first. Being a psy vampire myself, I look at this open confession and it runs so akin to my own experience in terms of what it is like (minus all the "greater good"). It does feel like a high and it is a pleasant experience.
I can say that having no donor would mean that one must go out and obtain that energy via other means. I have nothing against the original writer (it wasn't me, and the article is pretty old). I understand her thoughts and feelings.
While it is best to obtain consent in some realms, it is not a deal breaker for me. Nor is it something that will keep me from obtaining the sustenance I need (not crave). There are ways to make the experience less impacting on a psy donor (with some interesting side effects if done incorrectly for the vampire).
I also need to mention: I originally found this article on another vampire community web board. It was linked to a pretty heated discussion that I thought would be worthwhile to share here.
Personally, any energy I take in is done in a passive way. If I've been alone or isolated too long I just have to go out in a crowd and soak it up. I've never actively learned any other way.
That said, I think most people would be completely unaware of a more invasive sort of observation. And I would assume if they had the capacity to notice, they would also be able to repel it.
You're right about people noticing. Those who are more aware and alert to these things would be able to stop any kind of attack. Thanks for your response.
I think I will be the first to aggressively respond to this, as well as saying "if you take offense to this, it is by your own will."
The predatory nature of the vampire is just that, predatory. I offer no apologies for how I feed, when, why or where. If it is within my nature to do so, I will affectively feed in any way I deem fit. Unless it is by physical deathly harm to another individual...In that case, I will not.
As far as psychic feeding? I follow no code of conduct created by lifestylers for lifestylers IE the Black Veil. I have always had a grudge against those rules as well as individuals naive enough to follow them. There is a huge differance between knowing the path and walking the path...But, if you choose the lifestylers path, then that is your choice. Just stay a firm distance away from me with your idealisms.
psychic feeding is a natural response to anyone that needs it, whether they know it or not. Certain times when the individual feels depressed, angery melancholic or whathaveyou, then they tend to feed on a subconcious level. This is fact. If I choose to feed when I am aware of feeding, I will feed. I will take from the individual what I want. This is my nature, live with it.
Get to know the vampire before you start to think you are vampire just because you read something out of a book, watched the latest movie IE "Twilight", or any telly series IE Trueblood, or moonlight. Or read some half assed rules and regulations for a supposed vampire community IE the Black Veil...Yank yank.
I am vampire because I have the NEED to feed. Period. If others do not like my ways, to hell with them. Get to know me before you judge me.
I hold the opinion that no-one can actually ' steal ' energy from anyone.
I have however ' seen ' energy given out in extreme anger and think that this energy may be 'used' by others if they wish.
Whether 'feeding' on such energy would benefit anyone I don't know, I do know that I did not feel inclined to 'take' it myself.
Soulshroude, thank you for the honest response. I was curious as to what others who are vampires would say apart from non vampires. I, too, think the Black Veil is a little too idealistic and it is a means of control upon others to get them to unite and believe in something in common. Truthfully, though I once thought it to be a good thing, I know a little better now; it's not possible to adhere to unless you are a member of one of the vampire societies.
I don't think one should go around harming others randomly for fun, but where there is a need, there is a need. However, some of the typical responses to the article were severe in the other direction: stealing energy from others was compared to rape. (I don't like charged words, and I am sorry if I dredge up something somewhere for someone)
Stealing energy is a forceful taking of another's essence, and by doing so without consent... well you are doing a 'bad' thing.
Personally speaking, though, I believe that those who say that aren't understanding the concept to begin with. Yes, it is taking without consent. But a mature vampire ought to have the ability to control their energy feeding to an extent, and we even have the ability to give some back.
One of the procedures described in the Psychic Vampire Codex (another book that doesn't particularly apply but is an interesting resource) theorizes that one can cycle the energy absorbed and give back a 'refined' version of it to the victim. Essentially they would never notice anything missing when they woke up.
To state that it's possible to feed 100% of the time with consent is a bit like the 'an harm ye none, do what ye will'. It's impossible to cast magic without harming another; it's impossible to feed with consent all the time. But we can at least work to minimize the impact of the donor, consenting or otherwise.
No one has mentioned detrimental results to the prey of being fed upon.
In the article, her chosen are usually asleep and she lovingly leaves behind part of herself which it appears she feels is a + for the object of her desire.
Are there negative side effects for prey? Do they end up less than before? Can they replenish their psychic essence like the body making blood?
It seems to me that most humans produce more energy than they use, so I really don't see any harm in siphoning off excess that they won't miss anyway... with or without their consent.
As far as doing harm... I think the only harm someone could really do would be to take energy from someone who doesn't have any to spare, someone who is very sick for example. But in that case, they wouldn't be an attractive source in the first place.
I forgot to mention...
I'd have to agree with vvSoulshroudevv as far as things like the Black Veil and lifestylers go. It seems to me, that most people who are into the whole vampire scene are into the aesthetic and the social aspects more than anything else. And not really any different than any other group to me.
I'm not the type of person to let others dictate to me about what I should believe, or who I should have faith in, so adhering to some artificial, arbitrary rules doesn't really interest me.
I don't get this whole psy vamp thing. Vampires feed on blood. Or is this just another thing with regular people getting far too into the role playing?
A most valid response, DJ. Most people don't understand the concept of psychic vampirism. Yes, vampires drink blood for the same reason other vampires absorb energy. We all take from others for the same purpose: to compensate for an unnatural lack of energy in the self.
I have a marked deficiency in vital energy. It just leaks. I've used the analogy before it and suits here. It's like a bucket of water with a hole in the bottom. I can't maintain my own prana without absorbing from others. As such, it's a challenge to function without feeding off of others to help replenish the bucket, as it were.
As far as lifestylers go... I look nothing like a vampire. I am in the corporate world and you would never guess that I'm a vampire. I don't even look like one when in my personal life.
Some attribute the loss of energy to a damaged part of the natural energy centers in the body. We each have an energetic body that runs parallel and in conjunction to the traditional blood vessels. They feed off each other and support each other.
When one has a damaged energy center, the flow is energy is inhibited. In extreme cases, it is just straight up deficient. It can't support the day to day demands of functioning for long and therefore must be supplemented with the taking of vital energy from another.
It gets a little more detailed. I would recommend reading a few sites on psy vampirism.
In answer to another question here: yes it is possible to feed and feed without giving back. The unintended donor could also be drained of life energy and become lethargic and despondent with no physical symptoms otherwise.
I do not claim, and have not ever claimed to be a vampire of any sort; but have been accused many a time of being a Psy and feeding of energy without permission.
This was never, EVER done intentionally and at the time of the accusation I was confused and offended. The attack (on me) was made to sound akin of stealing, invasion and, for lack of a better word, rape.
After reading the article, I cannot fathom why anyone would liken that exchange to rape. Yes it was done without expressed permission, and without the donors awareness. However, it is not done with the intention to harm, and the author gives the impression she (he?) is doing this with people she feels connected to. Leaving something of a energetic gift of thanks within the donors psyche. I get the impression that the author is not riding roughshod over her donors energy sources and leaving them threadbare, she is taking what she feels they are able to give, and no more, and during sleep where the body replenishes itself anyway.
Should I have the energy to spare, I would happily offer myself for this kind of exchange, unfortunately that has rarely been the case.
~Lippy
DJJarak, I know what you mean. To me it's like one word having two different meanings. When I was younger the term "gang bang" meant something very different than it does to kids nowadays. Honestly, if there was a word to differentiate between literary vampires, and "real life" vampires, I wouldn't be opposed to it. But somehow I think the lifestylers/roleplayers would.
Apocolypstick, it's funny to me that someone would have the presence of mind to accuse you of that, but not enough to shield themselves from it.
Sinora brings up on a Interesting situation. When a Psi- energy feeds on someone-people and if the person is in anger or another upsetting mood, would the Psi also asorb the anger aswell and would it affect the energy?
I don't like the feeling of anger or anxiety, but if it's attached to the energy, or just my own empathy, I couldn't say.
You see, thats my point precisely...Not saying that anyone is personally "faking" or roleplaying as being a vampire of any nature.
But, when the individual "fakes" it and just states that they claim to be let us say for the sake of arguement, a psi-vamp and then uses the quote "if it's attached to the energy, or just my own empathy, I couldn't say." (Not to put you on the spot ~Jinn~), then in my mind, I would come to the conclusion that they are full of B.S.
Since the true vampire would know what types of energies are coming their way since they can both sense as well as feel the energies as well as what they represent and or mean. It is a natural thing, to know what those energies represent. One does not need to learn the definitions of energy patterns if one has that natural instinct that all vampires have. This has been my point from the beginning.
As far as any "detrimental" consequences, this would only stem from those idiots that think they know what they are doing when they really dont. The vampire would not experiance anything "detrimental" to their well being, since they have the ability to adapt to any type of energy. After all, they are vampire. It is in their nature to adapt to any definitive energies without so called dire consquences. It is their food. There would be no aftermath that would send them into a world of hurt so to speak.
Just because they feel those intuitive rythms does not mean that when they do absorb those "detrimental" types of energies within themselves, that they may respond to those energies in a negative way. That is not how it works.
Now, as far as the "stealing" of energies...As ~Jenova~ so fondly put it, this is what the vampire does. It is not up to any "donors" to say "yes, you may have my permission to take from me that which sustains me." Or any such nonesense. This again, is the vampires nature. To use the term "rape" no matter how bad this term would suggest, is precisely what the vampire does. it "rapes" the essence from the individual. I find that term rather harsh, but the reality is that...Quite harsh.
Vampires, no matter in what referance they are established into such as the blood sucking fiend that society knows and loves, or the social typical community servant that bows down to some guidelines such as the "Black Veil" B.S. Or the individual that has the true natures but bows down to no social protocals...The vampire is without a shadow of a doubt, a predator that lives of the life force of others. Period.
Put us in a good or bad light. This is your perogative. Your choice. We live off of others because we must. Be it those so called "donors", or whathaveyou. But the simple and remaining fact of the matter is...Society really has NO choice in the matter when it comes to the vampires "NEED TO FEED."
@jinn, you know I had never thought about that myself. But now that you mention it, it is a wonder the girl in question knew enough to accuse me, but not enough to protect herself.
Older more mature vampyrics know without a doubt that the vampyre is predatory. It is an individual choice as to how we handle the situation. Not all vampyrics in the subculture nor in mythology drink blood. Now talking about the community, yes some do and some factions have taken a moral highroad to tell each other who is right. I think it is a personal preference but either way it is not subject to debate really, it just is a fact. How can something be wrong when most are not even aware that humans slough off energy or are radiating it to attract the nearest vampyre in the area. There are those who drink blood all the time thinking the attraction means they are vampyres. This is far from the truth. Humans have been attracted to many things from a mental health or physical need standpoint. The need is different. Whether you ask or don't ask, it is my belief there would be no more harm than if the person ran the three minute mile. They would be tired and would either eat and then sleep or just sleep and replenish themselves. Since we don't live in the days of the barbarian, my opinion is that it would depend on the personal philosophies of the individual as far as whether they would or would not take energy under certain circumstances. It is not that there is no conscience it is another thing. Vampyrics are what they are. They do what comes natural to them but they aren't unthinking, mindless people, nor cookie cutter so it would depend on the person. For instance, if you have smoked three packs of cigarettes a day for 20 years and you ran out and you saw that someone had just visited you and forgotten a whole pack, would you smoke or call and return them? As Soulshroude said, if you need it your unconscious will take it no matter how well you believe you can control these actions and most of the time one consciously takes what they need. Essentially it is the nature of the beast.
Spiritualists or light workers believe that tendrils are formed between each person we come into contact with. These are considered energetic pathways between individuals sometimes referred to as “etheric cords.” Pictures have been taken of energy exchanges with healers. You might think that is different but it isn't essentially. It is just that the need isn't thought of as an illness and no it isn't, it is the natural state of being of certain individuals in society. Supposedly everything is made up of energy and physical energy deals with a lower vibratory rate. We therefore are not aware nothing is truly solid. Normals take their energy from food in what is called calories. These are nothing more than energy units. This is why Dr. Atkins, while he was alive, always said low calorie diets were very unhealthy because when you lower the calorie intake you lower your energy level and your immune system is compromised and essentially this is why so many get sick while dieting. Vampyrics will also get sick if they don't take in the energy they need. That which comes from food simply isn't sufficient. Can it be proven by anyone who says so, not at this time.
The black veil is promoted mostly by those who wrote it and Houses associated with them, etc. They were only guidelines and there are orders that existed well before they were made up. I am rather reclusive in a subtle way so I never really wanted a donor to tell you the truth. I think one opens up a can of worms in a way. Sounds nice in theory and people are doing such but in the long run it doesn't seem to be working because I hear all sorts of people saying they are looking for a donor. That makes the vampyre at the mercy of someone else ... essentially dependent to get what they need and I think it's unnatural.
Soulshroude, I understand what you are saying, and don't necessarily disagree with you.
I think I said earlier on, (and I really hate to use the word "feed"), that I go about it in a passive way. I've never spent time working on developing any sort of "feeding" method, or doing research about it. And honestly, it's not something I've even really talked about, even though I've always felt it. And though it'll sound like backpedaling, maybe empathy was a bad word choice. I do what I do, and it gets me by.
In comparing energy to food I guess you could call me more of a grazer. If anger and anxiety have a flavor.. well, I don't care for Brussels sprouts either.
being a psy vamp myself, i can say a lot of us donthave donors all the time. However i believe that if you are going to "feed" on another being that you should only take enough to sustain yourself, or obtaion permission to drink deeper
I know that I most often feed unconciously, it's a natural reaction to the activity around me at the moment...especially at work. Dealing the public it often times becomes like an exchange...people are very draining in of themselves. But being able to channel the energy they radiate because of what they've taken from you, can sometimes feel like a high. Intentional feeding I've generally indulged in through a more serene, meditational enviroment.
some minor thoughts on all of this...I'm half asleep and skimming this thread....
Detecting psychic vampires feeding without asking permission. Yeah, that can happen....alot of people do use shields designed to prevent energy theft in general, and alot of the shield making process includes designing shields that when they activate, the person wearing them can "feel" it activate.
I've also seen some people jump to conclusions and assume a psychic attack, when someone tries to "read" them empathically. Sometimes, depending on how determined the would-be reader is, it can trigger anti-vamp shields into activating. Though I'm not a vamp myself, and have never had anyone jump on ME about such things, I HAVE had to yank a few other people off someone else a time or two, yelling "psychic rape!" at full volume. People do get rather whiney about other people being too curious.
And these shields can fail, despite the vampire having been detected, if the person didn't have much belief in the shields to begin with, didn't actively strengthen the shields (usually because they've a big ego and think they're so powerful they don't need to.) or the vampire was simply more dominant...they could take the energy, because the victim also believed they could take the energy.
~shrugs~
I hope despite being somewhat rambling...that made enough sense..if not, someone let me know. I'll try to be more awake next time lol.
Like I said in my last post post..."People are draining in of themselves," meaning all of us whether we're attuned to it or not ,could be labeled as "vampires." Vampire in my opinion is a broad term, that is often really just an anology. For instance, my former mother in law drains me every time I have to deal with her and I guarentee she does not consider herself a vamp, lol. Whether it is physical, emotional, mental...everyone is sucking somebody else dry, most are just too oblivious to know it. The rest learn or are just a natural at pulling the energies they need from others or from the universe itself.
I have to say that while I am not a vampire of any sort, I can usually tell when someone is siphoning energy off me, however, I have no idea how to stop it, therefore, I think that the statement that by knowing when someone is feeding off my energy, I would know how to stop it. TO be honest, and I'm afraid of sounding like an idiot, but I really don't know how to stop it at all. I suppose I can tell because I've always been very in tune with my own body and what happens to it. It's odd.
I have, however, also been accused of being a vampire, and while I didn't take offense to it openly, it did kind of make me feel like I was doing something wrong. I do what's natural for me. I'm a nocturnal person by nature, which is the origin of one accusation. After reading this, however, I have to agree with the people who say, "fuck the rules." It's only natural to do what you're meant to do. If you're body needs energy, then you're not going to wait around until you find a donor to get it, that's for sure.
I will add that I do not think that vampires themselves are wrong, it's just that the people making the statements made it seem like I was doing something bad.
"everyone is sucking somebody else dry" Is that like when Monica was with Bill?
To the Psi-Vampyres outthere, why would you need to feed of from another person, when the Multi-Uni-verse is *full of energy*? Maybe those Psi-Vamps are not 'aware' of the energy from the Uni-verse.
Mayhaps ~Gordon~ because the psi-structure knows that people are usually the easiest source for that universal energy, and therefore use the peeps for their needs. Nuff said...
Don't think its so much as a need but more like a want. Being in the presence of some person in particular may exhilerate you more than another source. Its almost like choosing, and forgive me for putting it this way, one drug over another. It may fill a certain void in that person in a way the universal energy can't.
I agree with you on that point ~Circe~, the close proximeties of society does give the individual a warmth kind of feeling at times...Comfortable surroundings mayhaps. Which is why some individuals feel more comfortable surrounded by people rather then alone with candles whathaveyou.
The Universal energies are not for everyone. As well, it depends on where those Universal energies are attained from. The peeps is like I said, the easiest route. Though there are as I implied...Other routes available just so long as the individual knows where to look.
NartinaLeMaliki > You wrote that you had no idea how to stop energy being taken from you.
If you consider that energy is a constant and even if taken would be replaced as a natural part of the body system flow then there would be no concern. Just a thought.
Being human, of course human energy would be the easiest to use.
I will side with Jinn on this point. Why not feed off storms, elements, or animals? Their energy is different from human energy. Some would like to say that we are all the same and come from the same universal energy, etc. But truthfully? Human energy is the most akin to human energy. To me, there are several shades of red I can use to paint my wall, but only one that actually matches the other 3 in the room perfectly. And having to remix the colors would make for an inexact match. No matter how close it might seem, it's not the same shade.
Likewise, energy from animals, though interesting, isn't quite as easy to absorb as human energy. That's the best way I can explain it from my own experience.
I understand your point and excellent analogy ~Jenova~, the almighty "grass being greener on the other side" as the case may be.
But, those other energies to "feed" from, when I stated the individual just needs to know where to look...I was giving an example that there are other conduits out there. The four elements of earth, air, fire and water for example have their own vibrations...So one may gain their energies quite easily just as plants and animals do.
Animals may have more suitable energies than humans do on the account that humans seem to have a sort of bewilderment surrounding them, stressful atmospheres to boot as well as attitudes that just dont seem to go away anytime soon whether they are positive or negative.
Animals have that comfortable energy that seems to keep humans surrounded by them for the comfort zone purpose.
Weather is a bit of a differant scenerio, since the chaos of nature does have a mind of its own, no contest. But, why would one wish to take from the weather? Too much chaos in ones life would confuse them even further then what they may be already.
The point is, before one actually wants to take energies from anyone or anything, they need to learn why they are taking in the first place, second...They need to learn how they wish to take said energies, and third...They need to understand the levels to which the energies may be used. As there are differant levels of energetic vibrations.
Humans are the easiest because their energies are familiar. Other sources that may seem unfamiliar, may send the individual into somewhat of a chaotic state if those energies are neither controlled, nor properly understood.
In a sense we're all predators. It just depends on how far you want to push yourself.
Interesting thread...I've learned a lot form it.
I just like to say that as far as psi or sang vampires are concerned - what's wrong with having a moral compass when it comes to feeding? Whatever morals you had before becoming a vampire would still be intact, right?
~Isis~ your question lies entirely with the writer of a fictional novel. Since the vampire in reality cannot be turned or made, but born with the suitable attributes to proclaim it vampire. Therefore, the morales and or dogma is by choice and not nessessarily a rule.
The concept of good vs bad, has no real bearing in the vampires life and therefore may be detrimental at times if allowed to do so.
I wasn't thinking of novels and the like when I posted; I was actually thinking that if a vampire - a different type of 'human' after all - has the same basic make-up physically and mentally as a human, there would be a moral compass within them.
On the other hand, if being a vampire is being more or less a sociopath, well, okay.
Ditto what Soulshroude said. Isis, to your point, feeding habits will vary vampire to vampire. Some prefer to only feed from a willing donor. Some don't have the option.
Both choices are valid. Some of the more vehement responses to the original article are the opposite of what Soulshroude has presented. Vampirism without consent to some is equivalent to rape in their eyes.
As a vampire, I tend to view it more practically. No intentional harm done and therefore no foul. Coming from the victim of a deep psi feeding, it might be a different story.
I keep it to need, for the most part.
I think rape is when the prey is unwilling to do as the predator is looking forward to, more or less like a forcing on the prey... If people don't die of it, and you need it and they don't know it, whats the problem?? It looks more of an issue of personal morale than anything else. Of what i have read and my opinion on the previous posts...
Now if you are actually takin lifeforce and some of my years lol well thats another dealing for all of your concious and thoughts of raping people, and I can understand the whys behind the people thoughts on it.
You know, I just read through that article for a second time and notice something..."To clean up some muck off of your vibrations?" What the hell kind of phrase is that? We are not the cleaning lady of energy...We are not focused on cleansing the aura, we are not caretakers; indeed, just takers and not givers.
We are not here for the conveniance of society to stake claim that we are either good or bad, we are not here to stand by our convictions or to dismantle the illusion that society has placed on us being that of the ever so prevailant villain that seems to kill its victims physically.
We couldnt care less what society thinks of us, this is by individual choice. If society looks at us through a positive or negative light, it is a mere reflection of the individual and not of the group since we are not elitist like most within the vampire community.
We are not the be all end all of information, each individual has their own opinions pertaining to which ever predatorial environment we live in...Not adapting to. We do not adapt, we do not need to.
We are not here for societies enertainment. We are our own. We are here to prove nothing but one single point...The fact that we are missing something that is only gained by taking it from others. This something is the sustanance that give us health. We can live without it, but in a detrimental bind. Some of us may fall ill if we do not take sustanance from others. But not all of us. Since most of us take this sustanance on a subconscious level...Therefore not needing to actively feed all the time.
Haha. Yeah I noticed the same things, SoulShroude. Was a little whitelighter for me when it got to that point. The main thing is that people saw this person as a psychic vampire and STILL managed to descend like wolves.
As well, no offense on your part ~Jenova~ since you seem to have good intentions on posting this thread involving the supposed "article."
Even though the writing is stated to be in the form of an article, does not mean it is an actual article. It seems more like a story involving one individuals opinion, glamorized for the presentation effect. Though not very well presented within itself. I will not conjecture as much as I had planned to since it would be too easy to break the "article" down and expose it for what it seems to elude to.
Note that the writer wishes to remain anonymous...For reasons that are apparently their own. Now, as I say this, why take this article as any kind of be all end all of a supposed psi-vampire? This article is fully misconstrude to say the least, which is why breaking it down would be too easy.
It really seems to be someone wishing to make the first pages of a novel more then anything in my view. Most of the information is incorrect as well as improperly justified. Experiances that come of the top of the individuals head like they are making things up as they go along.
My point in case, believe what you will...Either the ravings of a madman or the individual in front of you. Take things of this nature with a grain of salt unless there are questions that have presentable answers that are willing to be given.
How strange , I,ve recently been asking myself what should i be doing while i,am out of my body . I got out a few nights ago and Hag attacked my ex with such intense emotion , i scared myself . I dont want to be getting out and doing scary things to people . I want to find a way to actually do good things for people . It,s not like i,am dead and need to sustain myself . Thanks for putting that link on there , it,s really given me some food for thought.
SoulShroude, I didn't really think to analyze the article itself. And now that you mention it, it does make one wonder, doesn't it? Here are the responses. Now is perhaps a good time to actually let people see what the responses to this confession were:
Responses here
Based on the responses from the supposed "article", which to me makes no sense at all to respond to an article unless it was not an article in search of answers...Since when was an article a response piece? Usually they are just there for the interest of certain areas of research.
Second, most of the individuals in the responses were taking it quite seriously as if they were in their own, choosing to be manipulated by what the "article" stated.
Third, ~Moonbubble~ seems to be wanting some attention by actually "relating" to what the "article" was refering to...This to me seems more like a someone not knowing what the subject matter actually pertains to, trying to establish a piece of roleplay material to either convince themselves or for no reason at all, state their convictions for something that does not need to actually be said.
Furthermore, the individual cannot "hag attack" another individual, either by purpose or accident. The hag attack was a simple explanation for when an individual was paralized by waking up from either an extremely deep sleep, or had a mental or physical condition for the hag attack to manifest itself. Which is why centuries ago, it was called a hag attack since certain societies thought it was a witch or hag that was attacking someone that did them wrong...Hence the term "hag".
The term you seem to be looking for ~Moonbubble~ is "Mara" or nightmare spirit...The passing of a vampire that had its final death, which would haunt individuals at night and supposedly "steal" their energies. Much like that of an incubus. But, as I have stated previously, the individual by no means, can commit a "mara" attack on anyone...Even within the ethereal realm, or astral travel...Harm another individual. This is just not possible since all individuals have a certain other world protection with them at all times in regards to being spiritually attacked during REM sleep.
All in all, I believe that if the individual were to write an article, they should at least try to make it believable and not some hokie form of story telling. No wonder society looks at the vampire the way they do...Society seems to believe just about anything they read as fact.
I do not berate, nor judge the individual for what they seem to believe of themselves...I simply call them out to test their convictions. Since most of this seems to be stemming from old folkloric practices that simply do not exist as well as some of it the true vampire would actually know whether other individuals were falsifying their statements and or convictions in the first place.
Even fringe Subcultures have set criteria to weed fabrication, and hyperbole from reason.
