one example I use related to the Comic Book subculture, everytime a movie ( X-men, Watchmen) comes out people become intersted in the current trend, some " Hard Core Fans" scoff what they refer to as " Gawkers" a term that flows over from Comic Book Conventions.

Yet those who collect, and sale comics, as well as being fans embrace those with peeked interest in their hobby/ subculture.

Not everyone is a poser, but I tend to understand when those with novice knowledge attempt to perpetrate them selfs as more experienced to people who have more then trivial knowledge of a given subculture.

I guess, because often a sub culture gets started from a trend, then some decide to continue the life style, therefore it starts a sub culture rather than just follow the trend until it is in fashion.

Subculture is a life style while trend is something temporary. Therefore those who are in the sub culture get annoyed by those who just follow the trend, especially if they are blamed by others, or the 'trenders' that they're just trying to follow a fashion to fit in.

More people get interested in the subculture and some might get into the subculture instead of just following the trend when it is in fashion.

I repeat Subculture is a life style while trend is something temporary so you'll find those who really want to follow the life style while others just want to follow a trend to fit in.

Well as it would seem that any time myself or of of my sisters offers a 101 class, people that have never had any interest in witchcraft or the the like and just want to follow what others friends are doing, and we also get the questions of oh is this like charmed or the craft, I refer to these type of people as fluffy bunnies, because they come out from under where ever and just gather and then when the interesthas passed they disappear back to where they came from.

Sub-cultures like stated above usually form from a trend of the time. Much like Trekkies with Star trek. We see the cloths the acting and generation of movies that come with it.

Yet basic formula of a trend is one that hits a year than passes within a couple years of its hype. yet some societies and individuals can make the trend no longer by making it part of society or sub culture and the word trend no longer applies.

Thank you DN, Trendsters that want to be accepted as " in the know" often are hostile toward people who inquire in a manner requiring said person to display a general "utility" understanding of the subculture. Example, after Americian History X some fancied themselves Skin Heads ( sad but true), skin head collectives are geared to " flush out" "posers" with sounding inquiries. A further question comes from this, sparked by your post.

Should Subcultures be reserved to some degree of those who profess stature in a subculture that has an established trend attached?

Subcultures are the very thread of our general cultures. It keeps society moving and evolving

Have you ever noted a person misrepresent their standing in a subculture Dark?

I believe that a subculture tends to inspire a trend. Subcultures generally start out as select groups that are attracted to something that while may be in the mainstream (like trekkies and SW Fans) there is a general unfavorable look to them by society as a whole when it starts to become one's "Lifestyle." These people gather together for acceptance and eventually grow into what most call a subculture. But as thier numbers increase, it is that "desire to be accepted" mentality that most of society has that causes it to expand even further into a trend (especially when picked up and pandered by corporate capitalists)

This is where alot of the misrepresentation comes into play. But there are other issues to this aswell. Many begin to forget why they became a part of the subculture to begin with and begin taking things way too seriouslly. This can be just as misrepresenting as those who "pose" to be apart of the subculture. But this all depends upon the subculture involved. Some are extrememly serious, while others are not intended to be.
