Numerous changes have been made to the referral system. The entire system has been overhauled so you can more easily accrue referrals.
1. When a perspective new member clicks on your referral links and joins the Dark Network, you receive a referral bonus. Integrity of the click-through system has been thoroughly revised and tested to make sure you get referral credit.
2. If a perspective new member signs up for an account, but for whatever reason referral data is missing, the new member has the option of manually filling in a referring member name.
3. Members who are level 5 or less, and who do not have referral data set, can manually set their referral. The link to do so is in the User Menu, just under the Your Browsing History link.
4. Referral bonus, as a component of Status, has been increased to a maximum of 15%.
With the new Status system (100+ levels), it is far easier to accumulate Referral Bonus. It is now possible to gain 200 or more referral points from referring a single member.
I've put in numerous layers of "referral catching" to assure you get credit for your referrals. If you refer a friend and you're not listed on their profile page as their referrer, they can manually set you as their referrer so long as they are level 5 or less.
Referring members is easy. I've never invited a single member to Vampire Rave. I've simply put VR banners with referral code at VampireRadio.com, Acrimony.org, and a few of my other websites. As a result, I've accumulated more than 1400 referral points (over 14% referral bonus).
You can refer member to the Dark Network via Banners, Postcards, or personal Referral Links.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have in regard to these revisions.
Sooo, anybody that we refered a while back but the referal didn't go through, and they are past level 5, there is no way we can count them as our referal?
No. Unfortunately there is no way to determine who is being honest and who is trying to cheat the system.
In order to get referral points you must use referral code, or get the member you told Vampire Rave about to fill your name in as their referrer.
Using referral code is the best method. It's totally automated and by far the easiest.
Just 'telling a friend' isn't enough to get the referral points. If your friends don't use your referral code/links, they must manually set you as the person who referred them before they reach level 6.
Using referral code is the easiest. You can copy-and-paste your referral links from the Referrals page.
Yes, but Referral bonus will eventually max out at 15%. I have more referrals than anyone and I am at 14.92%.
is there still a contest in place for people in order to refer people?
DMZ,
The former referral contest is no longer running. It was based on the old Status System. I'm working on some new contests that will hopefully be released soon.
DefiantxXxAngel,
You'll need to message me privately with the details. But if the person trying to set their referral is level 6 or higher, the process will fail.
Basically, it works like this:
I think that my question pertains to the whole dark network but I am going to ask anyway. Are we able to get the referral bonuses if we have a link set up on the profile that is shown say in the Sci fiction Site as well as here in VR? The reason that I ask is that I place a referral link for both on my profile and in some of the email groups that I am in on different mail servers.
Spiritwalker,
You have one profile for the Dark Network. If you make changes to your VR profile, it automatically propagates to the other sites.
You get referral credit when anyone clicks any of your referral links, and then signs up for a Dark Network account.
Thanks Cancer for the explaination I was just about to message you about the Referrals. I referred my brother but im not getting the points for it. You answered my question. Thanks :-)
Uhh, this is something I've been wondering about and have debated whether to ask this in the public forum or not, but maybe other people have the same question so I'm going to ask anyway.
Hope I don't give people ideas.
So, technically, any member under level 5 could set any other member as their referral?
Would this not spark some people asking the new members to list them as their referral when infact they did nothing to promote the site whatsoever?
I know that even if this is possible it would be rare, but it sounds like a chance to cheat the system that you have worked so hard to build...
Thanks
P.S; Congrats on all the updates, the site is looking more fantastic than ever! :)
Yes. Which is why members of level 5 or higher can not set their referrals manually. Some people will cheat the system.
But I decided I needed a stopgap in place, to catch those who promote the site via word of mouth. You can now just tell your friends to sign up, watch for them, then get them to set you as their referrer before they hit level 5.
Also, the referral link code works via cookies. It's possible that a new member follows the link code correctly, but because they have cookies turned off, no referral data will be set. This is another reason for allowing manual fill ins up to level 5.
I've done my best to make the system the most fair overall.
Honestly, I can't believe how far you go to make the System fair for all of us. You do it quickly and quietly, and let everyone know when you are done.
It is perfect (no matter how many times you upgrade it and debug it). I know that is harder than it looks...so it is amazing that you do it at all much less so fast.
I keep wondering what you are like in person. Maybe I will get to say a quick 'hi' sometime...Been thinking about going to VR's Halloween thing this year.
One of my friends...not a referral unfortunately (but could become one) wants to go too. Maybe I can get her interested if I take her to meet people with me...I keep trying...but this is hick ville. Computers still scare people here...Lmao. They will steal your soul, you know?
If you referred someone and they joined s a regular member, then later decided to go premium, do you get the extra point for their change from regular to premium?
