Do you believe their is someone made especially for you? A foot for every shoe?

A pheramonal induced partner?

Just a scientific or psychiatric probability that you would wind up together?

Or is it just natural selection? This mate suits me because *_fill in the blank_*.

I was just curious after reading and rating so many profiles, a majority of them couples, believing their bf/gf is THE ONE, and the single one's talking about meeting their damsel in distress or prince charming.

How do you know the person you are with is TRULY the one for you, and not absolute compatibility or just someone you claim at the time for a whim?

I couldn't do it. To "me" if my husband REALLY loved me, he wouldn't want to bed another woman, unless we were divorced or I was dead.

Hopefully, he would leave me, if he needed to "relieve" himself.

He feels the same.

I'm not criticizing, different things, work for different people.

But I do believe my husband is my soul mate or the closest thing that I'll ever find to one.

I hate to say it, but I don't think there is someone for everyone. There is to much BS nowadays for me to believe that any more.

I thought at one time I had met my 'soulmate', then blame smack in the face and a no go.

Maybe I am just being pessimistic because of bad experiences in my past.

Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, you'll find someone.

Do you really think everyone finds someone, that special significant.
It's hard when your into special and unique things like we all are here on the rave.
But we still all hope!

Let's also remember that not all "soul mates" have to be in a "relationship" either.

It's silly but, think of Laurel and Hardy or Abbott and Costello. Yes comic teams I know. But, were they not also trying to display a friendship on another level?

Soul mates can also be two heterosexual males or females.

To me though, the term "soul mate" is rediculous. I think there should be a better term.

I used to believe it, I still kind of do. But in a different way.
We change as we get older, and you should have three relationships. One that is intimate, one that is intellectual, and one that is companionship. Ideally it would be one person who encompasses all three relationships. But it doesn't always happen. I think that it could be possible to have three different soul mates that you learn and love and don't always stay with.
I found someone that I truly loved and still love, but we had different goals we dated for five years and then realized what we wanted out of life was very different. It hurt but its how it is.

I think in rare cases, people can be meant.

I don't think that finding your soulmate guarantees you a free ride though.

Are soulmates real? In my experience so far, no they are not. Is love at first sight a myth, in some cases, yes.

What is the true definition of a soul mate any how?
Two souls that were preordained to be together as one, or some ideological fantasy that someone made up?

i believe, 99% of people have soul mates its just a matter of time before they find them and when they find them.could be animal love it could be people love, etc.

Personally, I think a best friend is someone you would push out of the way of on-coming traffic.

A "soul-mate" is someone you would get beaten up, shot, stabbed and crucified (while being mocked) for.

Some people think that a soul mate is someone you click with, everything is perfect. I don't think that's true. I think in order to be soul mates, you have to experiance pain together. I think when you go through hell and back with a person, that you're meant to be togeather, relationship wise or as friends.

I agree, a soul mate doesn't have to be someone you're in a relationship with, it can be a close friend, someone who makes you feel like you've acheived something. It's hard for me to explain all of this without really thinking about it, but I'm trying to put everything that's happened to me this last year.

When I was entering my teen years my mom asked me during the dreaded talk 'Amber, why are there spaces between our fingers?' I would reply 'So we can grab stuff easier.' she'd smile and shake her head. 'Nope, because someone else's fingers belong there. A perfect fit, fingers that'll never let go of your hand. If my soul mate is out there, I want to know where. For me soul mate do not exist. Is almost impossible to the right brain to believe that after you are born, someone else was born and the two are mean to be together later in time. Many "romantic" people use this idea of soul mate to keep the other person Happy. So, if they are happy, good for the relationship.

What ever the nature is of any given relationship I believe that ultimately the spiritual purpose of a partnership is to develop wholeness within us, to create freedom and take back or release our power over someone. This is the key to true balance and spirituality. We each learn our lessons differently because we are each at our own level of growth. So much of a relationships is sorting out chaos and emotions and learning to love some one and ourselves properly.

I think that soul mates do exist but they are very rare and the chance of finding that "one" person in todays world may be almost impossible.

i am not really sure speaking for my self cause i am only 14 but my dad says there is someone for every one just not every one finds there soul mate

i agree there is someone for everyone, its just hard to find that special person. im only 19, and im still looking. i've got my whole life ahead of me. But im trying to find that special person now so we can grow old together. Little old fashioned of me oi know but thats what i think.lol

It's magical. How love can thrill us or torment us. Depends on what side of the spectrum you're on.

I used to think so but not anymore. it just depends if you meet someone that is compatible with you. the more complex the person the less likely that they will meet the perfect person for them.

May not be what some call Soul Mates but there is One for each of us and sometimes We find that person..May turn out to be for the good, or just become Best Friends..Either way We all have someone special to enter Our lives, may write things about Ones you dont know yet and may not ever meet, then again..You meet and They are the Ones You were destined to meet...Who knows what may happen, let it go the way it is meant to be

I can't honestly say that there are soul mates for everyone. I do think that there is someone for most people, but not necessarily a soul mate.

For myself, it is true. I met my girl while I was still in high school. We had mutual friends and became the best of friends shortly after. Both of us being shy and dorky feeling (about ourselves), it took us a couple of months to figure out that we actually liked each other. We knew we were "the one" for each other after only going out for a few days. We were madly in love right away, and we've been together for sixteen years this year. We are still each other's closest, bestest friend. We would rather be around each other rather than anyone else, still, after all these years. We know each other so intimately that sometimes we don't need to voice a concern or desire to each other for one of us to take action on it. And the flame of our love hasn't waned even to the slightest of extents, it has only gotten stronger over the years.

So in our case yes soul mates do exist.

(I honestly didn't read post to this thread except the initial post, so please do not take any offense to this statement.) Often times I think that people who say that there isn't such a thing as soul mates are either jealous because they haven't found that themselves or that the relationship they are in is not one like that of a pair of soul mates. (Once again, I haven't read any other posts to this, so no offense is intended here. I am merely stating my opinion.)

I think I lucked out to have found my soul mate at such a young age. People have asked me for love advice before on "how to get the perfect girl for you" and such, and I tell them I can't help them, because my girl is the only girlfriend I ever had. That is what tells me that it was luck in the cards that brought us together.

I believe that everyone has "that special someone", even though I haven't found that "one for me yet.

Yes I do, I believe that everyone has another half, the opne that in all completes them and makes them feel whole.

How do I know, well have you ever met someone and just know there is a connection and then the mroe you talk and the mroe you get to know them the things you have in common are just almost spookey at times or the ability that they know what your going to say before you even say it...

Maybe perhaps you you had a reading done and were told that you were going to meet a particular person and the moment that you did you would know it was that ONE person, and you didnt just go out lookin for them but you happen to be at the right plpace at the right moment to meet them and you just have this over whelming feeling that it is right ?

I believe that everyone has a soul mate. I found mine on here. Now her and me are thinking about getting married. Anything is possible. No one can really say for sure if everyone has a soul mate or not.

The Egyptian mystics believed that once the soul enters this realm it is fragmented, thus giving us soul mates rather than one soul we have many soulmates those who are fragmented from a one spiritual state of being. I have several soulmates but only on soul twin. Your soul twin is the reverse to you your mirror image so to speak.

yes very true friend.... some of us are lucky enough to cross paths again with those fragments while others may never see a glimpse of them again. Some how I was lucky enough to have found 3 of them and the connection between them in inexplainable.

I have found 6 of my other soul fragments they are a part of my life we lost one though a couple years back, we felt the lost immediately. It was a odd feeling like someone ripped the breath right out of us.

it is also said that once you form bonds with someone that bond travels with you to the next life.

Or is everyone simply buying into the idea that purchasing a large stone or staying together because prophylactics were not used during a sexual encounter is the best way to handle things because that's what religious texts suggest.

From a statistical and personal standpoint, I do not believe I have a "soul mate" despite what others may suggest. I have seen (and been through) a few too many failed relationships to blindly and naively assume that there is an automatic match for me, let alone everyone else.. Call me jaded, angry or bitter, but I'm going to have to side with statistical probability in situations like these where litigation and child custody fuel a multi-billion dollar industry.

I believe that sometimes in this life we meet people we are automatically familiar with and feel at ease with..... we have known these people in past lifes. I belief we only have one soul mate.... and that we spend each life time looking for them. Sometimes we find them, sometimes we don't. But if you do find your soul mate in this life you will KNOW straight away.

I think the only way you know you've found your one true love is when you wake up at 80 years old and you look over and theres the same person who has been with you like 50 years, thats really the only way to tell to me.

I don't belief that that person is usually what you want the most sometimes its what you want the most and don't know it.

For instance...If a person is your father in one life he could be your best friend...in the next....

I think it's possible to have a soul mate out there if you can find the one that completes you, makes you feel whole, has most everything in common with you, and accepts you for who you are and what you do. They have to take you as you are, not for what they want you to be. Like someone else stated on here, all of us are unique and are into things that not most people are into or even understand...so you'd have to find someone who does. You have to connect on all levels from physical, intimate/sexual, intellectual, and superficial...especially when you're like most of us. So, it can exist but very hard to find and makes you lose hope.

I do thinnk there is someone for everyone, it's a matter of fate bringing you together. I thought i had found mine in my kids father, but no, but i think it was fate's way of telling me that he was not the one that i picked the wrong person, and fate is giving me a second chance at finding him.

I do believe in soul mates and i'm hoping i have found mine, everyone has got one just today with there being so many souls around it's hard to find them.

To me a soul mate is someone you have a conection with emotionally and spiritually, most of the time you know how the other one is feeling, wether it being phyiscal or emotional, you know what the other one is thinking and if something is bothering them you'll know what to do to make them feel better, when you're with that person everything feels right, you'd do anything to protect and to make that person happy... i'm just going by what i'm feeling right now with the person that i'm sure is my soul mate , not to sure if it's right but right now this is what i think a soul mate is.

The whole soul fragmentation is interesting.

I feel that everyone has a soul mate and will eventually find them. But at the same time they will find them when they aren't trying to look for them. What I mean by that is you'll be looking to date or whatever but you won't specifically be looking for your soul mate. And when the time is right, that is when they will come in to your life. I'm currently not in a relationship so I can't answer the 2nd part of that right now.

I myself do believe there IS someone out there for everyone. Not that I've had any luck But I believe at the beginning of time that ourselves and our soul mates were together. But then we were ripped apart from them and its our job to rekindle and be with them again.

I have never had a relationship in which I have been remotely happy in so I know mine has yet to be found, but something I've learned is you can't always go looking for love. Love sometimes must run its course and find you.

I feel that soul mates come and go throughout our lifetime. A soul mate doesn't necessarily have to be the love of one's life; they could be a best friend, a sister, a brother, mother/father, etc.

To me, soul mates appear at a time in our lives when we need that extra support. They somehow seem to completely understand EVERYTHING we are going through without us having to go into complete details.

The relationship of soul mates - to me - goes so much deeper than just love, and when someone who fits the description of a soul mate comes into my life, I make sure to pay attention at why they are here and why I feel so connected to them, because as time goes on, we may drift apart.
