I learned of a church here in Maine called the satanic church. it was once a christian church but it kept getting broken in to and wiccan rituals were performed. they burnt the church and the foundation that was left was in the shape of a pentagram. Do you think it is because of the rituals that were once performed there or do u believe people are looking in to it too much and it is just a coincidence?

*Sigh* This confuses me once more... With all the discussion about Wicca being of a neutral to good natured, why confuse it with witchcraft? If it is deemed as a "satanic" church since the locals have no other concept to speculate with, then it would be considered as witchcraft instead of Wiccan.

I see no relation as to a supposed "pentagram" being burned out from the ashes of the church (by ashes I mean the remains of said church), but if there were ritualistic activities within the church after it was desecrated by molevolent individuals, then mayhaps the rituals gave off certain energy frequencies that did lead to the pentagram outcome. Even though it is skeptical, it cannot be ruled out.

I would not call the church "satanic" though. But if this is the best term that can be used, then so be it with the little understanding of the darker forces at play from the most part of society. Speculate how you will.

vvSoulshroudevv could not of said it better.

If the pentagram was inverted....it was dark forces.

I as a Wiccan have never burnt a pentagram in any of the rooms of my home
nor has the coven I am in.
We are sworen to secrecy what goes on in a coven.
So basically I have never heard of Wiccans burning a pentagram into a floor of a bulding where we celebrate the Wheel of the year.

A few years ago a teenager was practicing devil worshipping and he had the inverted pentagram in a building next to his parents. Of course after he killed his parents the inverted pentagram was found. Not on the floor but on the inside wall of the building, which still stands today.

But your topic is a interesting one.

The direction the pentagram was facing is meaningless. Just like the direction of the swastica. Both are myths. Nazis used both directions, witches use both... it's meaningless to ascribe the direction with a specific cult.

Traditionally, the pentagram is the symbol of the body... and that is usually what it represents, it's not sinister in any way.

Technically ~Kglitterous~, the early christians always associated the opposites of the pentac with "good" vs "evil", the association was that of having a circle with the pentacle it was called a pentagram... Commonly associated with witchcraft but not devil worship. Now an "inverted" pentagram (the circled pentagram upside down) was commonly associated with the devil.

As apposed to a pentacle (star without a circle around it) which was associated with "good," or the pentagram (circle surrounding the pentacle) right side up, though the pentagram itself (circle with the pentacle right side up) was and still is used in modern witchcraft, for differant reasons. But more of an association with earth, air, water, fire, spirit with the circle itself representing the oroboros or much like the head of an ankh for the Egyptians.

Most seem to always confuse the use of the pentacle/pentagram itself and thus take the symbolism for granted. This is not uncommon.

Personally, I believe that it's a coincidence. Perhaps it's just a rumor with no real history at all. Is there a link that anyone has where there are pictures or anything like that?

Unless said church has a specific name, I cannot find a search for it. Thus, this may all be speculated hearsay.

~Killbill4u~ are you alluding to the pentagram website as home sweet home, or the "satanic church"? Because if you were refering to the church as such, then please explain your "path."

To say wiccins are "light" is a farce, the ones i know are not "all light and fluffey" truth is true wicca reflects nature so it is not black ow white. it is both and the fact is energy is energy it knows no color the fact is when using magic it is all in the intent that it is being used. I want to lol when ppl say that a pent or other thing is "satanic" in all honesty ppl need to do there resurch befor they go spouting off of the mouth.

I must write my two cent. Wicca or Witchcraft, do not, worship Satan. Any misconceptions about the subject, were created by the organized religion. The find of the Up-side down pentagram, was an interpretation of some "fanatic", who try to brings the blame into someone else.

At last, someone with a bit of a brain and intellect to boot, let us give a big applause to ~gaulder~. Magic(k) is neither black nor white, as energy is energy. The intentions are only human, the tools are there for the added focus.

Has this not been my lesson from day one?
