Who knows of the Spear of Destiny? It was the spear that pierced the side of Jesus Christ after he was crucified. Some believe that as the son of God, Jesus was immortal and it would have taken a special weapon such as this spear to kill him. Well, the Romans believed him to be a fraud, so why would they use such a weapon on him? How would have they gotten such a weapon? What really was the Spear of Destiny anyway? Was it man-made or did the Devil have a hand in it's creation? There have been signs of the spear turning up throughout history. It is said that it was once in the possession of Napoleon Bonaparte and then in the hands of Adolf Hitler. The myth says, whoever has possession of the spear would be destined to rule the world. Who has it now? It vanished after World War II. Does the US have it? Someone else? Or has it been lost? Please share your opinions.
The spear of destiny was named such because it was the spear that ended the life of the Nazarene. It was just your typical spear. It was rumoured, since it had the blood of the Nazarene on it, that it had special powers attached to it.
Hitler went after it for the power that it supposedly had, the power to take on armies such as the ark of the covenant had. If I remember correctly, the spear does exist and lay within the Smithsonian on display or some such.
I have done a great deal of research regarding this as well as other artifacts of historical relevance.
Ah the "Spear of Desitny." Soulshroude is right. it was nothing more than an A typical Roman spear of the time. But the "Christ" was already dead when it pierced his side. It did not kill him. Now there is a "Spear of Destiny" on display somewhere but there is no real evidence that it is the one that pierced "Christ" and the one that is on display has been mangled and cobbled back together so many times, one can not even really scientificlly say it is even from the same time as "Christ."
I think it would be difficult to say for sure if any speak found was the real thing. I know that there was a massive trade for pilgrims at one time where relics of the true cross and bits of saints were being sold. The shroud of Turin was one of those clever fakes too. I would put my money on the Spear of Destiny being another tourist trinket. I could be wrong though;)
tler's successes as Nazi dictator have given way to a number of occult theories. One of the most common of these is the story of the Spear of Destiny.
Also called the Holy Lance, this spear was believed to have been the weapon used to pierce the side of Jesus Christ at the Crucifixion.
Legend has it that whoever possesses the lance will rule the world.
The lance appears both in factual history and in fiction.
In the Wagner opera Parsival, Klingsor was a despicable adversary of the Knights of the Holy Grail.
The fiend sought to capture the Spear of Destiny from them and use it in his practice of black magic.
In history, no figure was more feared than the black magician Landulph II of Capua. He, too, was obsessed with the power of the Spear of Destiny.
Hitler identified the similarities between Wagner's character and the magician. He saw their struggles as parallel to his own quest for the holy icon.
To Hitler, the blood purity of the Grail Knights and the maniacal quest of Klingsor and Landulph for the spear was the blueprint for world conquest by Nazi power.
Hitler believed he would one day fulfill a historic destiny. How he would do this was not clear until he was 21.
While in the Hapsburg Treasure House in Vienna, Austria, Hitler heard the words which he said were to change his whole life.
A museum tour guide stopped in front of a display of an ancient spear and told of a legend that whoever possessed it would hold the destiny of the world.
The guide said the spear was supposedly the one which a Roman Centurion thrust into the side of Jesus Christ at the Crucifixion. After the group departed, Hitler stepped forward for a closer look.
"I knew with immediacy that this was an important moment in my life, and yet I could not divine why an outwardly Christian symbol should make such an impression on me," he said later.
After his initial experience with the Spear of Destiny, Hitler studied the history of the ancient relic. He was intrigued and amazed at its incredible story.
For more than 1,000 years, the spear had been a symbol of power to the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire. Century after century, the legend of the Spear had been fulfilled for good or evil.
Constantine the Great claimed the spear guided him through providence.
The Frankish General Karl Martel used the spear in battle.
Emperor Charlemagne lived and slept within reach of the spear, and attributed 47 battle victories to its powers.
In all, 45 emperors over 1,000 years claimed the Spear of Destiny as a possession.
Hitler decided he had to possess it.
Over the next three years, he made countless trips to the museum to gaze in awe at the spear.
He recalled that one day as he stood in front of the display, he went into a trance.
"I slowly became aware of a mighty presence around it -- the same awesome presence which I had experienced inwardly on those rare occasions in my life when I had sensed that a great destiny awaited me."
In 1933, when Hitler rose to power, his 25-year obsession to possess the spear could be realized.
In April, 1938, he marched his army into Vienna and took possession of the spear and took it to Nuremberg. One year later, he invaded Poland.
On April 30, 1945, the same day Hitler supposedly killed himself, the American army invaded Nuremberg and took possession of the spear.
In the months that followed, America unleashed the most destructive force ever known to man: the atomic bomb.
While in possession of the Spear of Destiny, America became the undisputed ruler of the world.
The spear now once again resides in the Hapsburg Treasure House Museum in Vienna.

I would image it is in the safe guard of the vatican.
It would never be placed on open display, perhaps replica's would.
It would never be announced to the public who truly had it!
While ~Onikumo~ has already stated that the spear of destiny may not the the real thing within the Smithsonian, I am wondering if it has had any blood samples taken from it, or if it has any blood stains left after an infra-blue scan is done on it.
I am also wondering if the History Channel has any relative information regarding any sort of experiments on this spear.
Something to ponder on...
I never thought about the blood resin....makes me wonder now.
I believe that someone has the spear and that it is in the hands of the rich and powerful. I do believe in its powers and that it is a powerful artefact.
As well as the Ark of the Covenant, the Grail, and several other unmentionable artifacts of great significance, I suspect.
Hmm I am not sure on this one.. if there was a spear of destiny that gave such great power, then why isn't there someone in this world wielding that power...???
I have to say it is just a story like many others.
Who is to say that the government of the United States does not have it in their midst? It would explain why we are one of, if THE most powerful countries in the world... Would explain alot.
Forgive my advancement of this speculative opinion.
Our country was once powerful, now we are falling into financial ruin, and wars we have become involved in, extending our arms of faith and help to povershed countries has taken its toll on us....
if the spear was once in our hands could it have been taken away????? One truly wonders, that as the spear has Christ's blood on it, the power it shall wield for the one who holds it...
The spear of destiny, like Jesus, is a a myth. Jesus was supposedly the son of man/ son of god, but there isn't a single shred of evidence other that what is written in a smattering of superfluous writing smashed into a book called the bible. Incidentally it was compiled by a man ruling what was once a powerful empire in the world.
Just like all other religions, there are secrets, teachings, and writings that are to be taken with a salt lick (far more than just a grain).
I, for one, believe in the spear of destiny as much as I believe in Nostradamus' prophecies. All prophecy has a place in the world, and all myth has a place in the world. They sit in the collective mind of our species and often get whipped out to explain events either too horrible to imagine or to fulfill a void in an unknown future.
For some reason, people are scared by the future and what it holds, so they tend to build stories to fill in the gap. Same thing, incidentally, with death.
I remember watching a History channel special where they did do tests on the spear and broke down the parts of the spear in how it was altered over the years. Including the adding of a "Piesce of the Cross" to it. They were pretty accurate on most of the modifications from a weapons perspective. However, from what I know of Roman Military Arms of that time frame. They were pretty uniform in the issue of Spears. And almost no one in the Roman Army carried a flat broad bladed spear. Most were almost javelin like with a four sided pyramid shaped head. While I may be wrong. Roman was one of the few armies to have actual uniformed issued arms and armour.
And really any blood test done on the spear would be almost irrelivent aside from determining if it was ever used to kill anyone jewish from that time. It still would not be able to tell you if it was used to pierce the side of "Christ."
I think it is a fairy tale like many myths and legends that come from the bible and other such places.
There may be a spear but in my opinion it does not hold any power, if it did or if it held the power people say then that would be something hard to keep hidden
Society is oft times very easily convinced of anything "super-natural" to remain "lost" or just "not found" at all. The Media plays a HUGE part as to what the world believes in as apposed to what actually happens throughout the world.
If the media does not bring up a subject, does this mean the subject matter is irrelevant? Absolutely not. It just means that said information is not worth talking about according to the higher ups on the media board.
Need to know basis is all it is and ever was.
from the phyical description it was a hastae,an auxiliary spear.crucifixions in civil cases where normally carried out by auxiliaries.with a roman officer presiding.in this case its said to have been somebody called longinius.who later converted and died as a martyr in france.a museum in strasborg has the reputed spear.there is a good horror book about it by james herbert.
sorry vienna.if hitler really had the spear why did he lose?he actually was a rationalist and did not really believe in any such relics.if he believed in it he may have won.but he left it in its glass case.
When the film 20000 leagues under the sea released in my city, we went to see it and in intervel there was trailer of next coming film "The Final Conflict" we seen that movie too. in that so many peepal was having swears and hoes... you made me remember that movie only few remain of that movie in my mind...
The spear was a spear and nothing more. It would not have been saved. There are almost no records of Jesus in the Roman histories so there would have been no reason to save the spear, and no way to prove the historical/biblical value of any spear of the period.
The spear is like the Ark of the Covenent and the Holy Chalice. Items to be searched for but never physically found. Their value is not in the physical realm but rather the spiritual.

Sheesh.
One of the most sought out relics other than the cup of christ.
the spear of longiliuos who killed jesus on the cross, yet whether it is mythical or not alot of people are still searching for this relic. it is said to hold the power to rule over all enemies.
“Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man”

With that said, if the "spear" was ever found and blood was taken from it, it would more then likely show that it was a fake. Just like the Shroud of Turin was{http://www.physorg.com/news4652.html}
Nine out of ten, the "holy" object taken by the church are fake, people trying to make a buck, and the church trying to make more money.
But if there really was True, that it was the real Spear, and that Jesus was who is said he is, then this spear if in the wrong hands, might be deadly.
Other then that I do not see there being a true "Spear of Destiny" out there.
Relating to ancient artifacts, I oft times wonder if Greek mythology is related to the Christian theologies IE Tridents Spear being the Spear of Destiny, and the Ark of the Covenant being the fabled Pandora's Box.
Something to think about.
