As a Vampyre, are you environmentally conscious? Do you recycle? Have you put any thought into what could happen to the race if the world were to start to change do to global warming? or any other catastrophic events?
I think I'm environmentally aware; I recycle and clean using the safest products available.
Whether one is a 'vampire' or not, one should want to have a planet where one can survive in safety, right?
(And preserve the natural beauty around us too, of course).
I am far from "green" since this seems to be what the thread is representing from the "evironmentally aware" term.
Since the world may not come to an end anytime soon, nor go through any type of global warming or cooling cycle in my lifetime further than what it has already throughout a 20 years span...
Frankly, I am not worried about it since the case is, when I die, I die. There is no coming back unless, mayhaps the individual believes in the philosophy of reincarnation. But, what if the reincarnation deals with past and present; in that the individual could come back in another era altogether? ( This could turn into another thread, so we might as well be prepared.)
Global warming and or cooling is a process that could take years to decades to come through and as such, I am none too worried about what the Earth goes through or will be going through at this time. The people do not make the Earth what it is, the Earth does. Do you really think that the Earth does not clean itself up from time to time? Come now.
Being a witch as well I do tend to be "green" simply because I believe the earth is our mother and I dont trash my momma.
I would also like for my children's children to be able to see the planet for what she is and the beauty she contains, not just the skyscrapers, cities, and smog.
Even if the world is coming to and end soon (12-21-12) if you believe that....what is the harm in conserving the planet that gives us life in the first place?
Fine save the rainforest, and meadows? When you have no place to park your car, or a shopping mall in walking distance, don't go crying to the engineering industry.
Clean air? How do you think we are going to evolve filtering gills without some particle build-up in the atmosphere?
Clean water? Eventually all the slug will kill off all the nonnative alge in resivoirs?
Over population? what about lonely people? don't they deserve better odds of meeting someone suitable?
I havent put much thought into earth. hell after im dead ill be dirt after awhile so whats the point? Humanity is a fertilizer for earth when we die so why bother now when we will infinitly help after we die? If your that self conscience about earth just kill yourself to help it as much as fast as you can
I take it nobody in this thread has children or young family that will b around long after you die. are we really all that stuck on ourselves? my thoughts are this, I admit, i could do a much better job when it comes to helping preserve our mother earth but I also plan on having children, and at the rate im going im going to be one of those old parents. so my bloodline will be here for a while, but if i dont do my own little part to help out, then if something does happen to the world because of humankind then that fact reflects directly on me and everybody before me, and i dont want my children looking at my tombstone asking y i didnt do anything.
Well you do have truth in what you say i mean i would love for my kids to live in a paradise... the truth of it is, the world was fucked long before we were born. Its been on a self destructive path for years and isnt slowing down because we put stuff in seperate bins or drive more fuel effecient cars
I really haven't given it much thought at all.... humanity is going to do something so incredibly reclous tht will kill us all fr before the ozone dissapates, and the earth burns
Just a thought here, but it really shouldn't matter is one is or isn't a vampire / vampyre when it comes to 'cleaning up ones own back yard'.
As a matter of business, (speaking solely for ourselves) we do what we can to keep thing's within the legal lines of the Clean Air Act and such.
As a matter of 'personal' application, I think it's safe to say we could all do better, but every little bit helps.
We've got one marble to exist on presently... Branson's new Space Ship ticket's are a bit out of price range for most to date...
Anyway, yes, some of us are aware and trying to make changes in habits to heal some old damages to the earth as a whole. Let's just hope it DOES make a difference in the long and short runs.
saving the envoirnmet is a good caused but wasted at this point. Humans ae cattle we'll migrate some were eles andwe will follow
Aronoch....humans are not cattle even tho we're all mammals and anything can be prey to something else....
As for environmentally aware...yes. I do recycle what needs to be or what can be, even clothing to Goodwill stores or i pass them down to family members that might want first picks etc.
I also signed up to this site....
http://www.hopenhagen.org/home/map
Earth is our home so it only makes sense to try and take care of it :)
Yes over population is a massive problem and contrary to popular belief every study suggests the biggest impact on polution and co2 etc is the birth rate.
Re-cycling is unlikely to make a great deal of difference particulalrly as China's response to the threat is to lift its one child policy...So well done to them for that.
Personally I am going to do my bit by switching from lamb to "cattle".LOL.
I have to admit that I recycle far more at work than I do home. Maybe I should start being more pro active at home as well.
I'm pretty environmentally conscious. I reuse my shopping bags, buy local produce, rarely eat meat, recycle and such. As far as long term awareness, I try to live apart from the consumer oriented commercials and advertising. I try to buy things that will last a long time, and are cruelty free.
No offence, but the ignorance of some people who posted here is amazing.
First of all, it's not a matter of what you are, but of how much environmentally consciousness you have.
Of course you can walk through life like a sheep and do absolutly nothing and think, someone else will do it and thats exactly where the problem is. A lot of people think, oh I alone, if I recycle pet bottles, what does that help.
But I guess we all heard of 'Together we are strong'. That doesnt only works for wars or the togetherness after 9/11, that also works with trying to keep earth clean and healthy.
I admit, I could do more, but I do my share. For starters I dont have a car, I take public transport or car pool with someone. It's sometimes not easy, but it works. I walk 10 mins to the grocery store, when I could take the car or bus. I try not to waste water or to heat too much in winter.
It's the little things that make a difference and that matters. Nobody expects you to save the world alone, but how about helping a little?
There is a really good movie called 'The Age of Stupid'. It gives you something to think about.
I just rembered the English word for people who say, that what does it matter to me what happens in 1 million years. Fatalistic. It's like being told you have cancer or diabetes and say, oh well, sooner or later I'll die anyway so why should I do chem or take insulin. I highly doubt anyone would say that thought. And why? because it happens now and you know what? Global warming is happening NOW too.
And because our parents and grandparents thought exactly like those people who don't care right now, thats why we have to deal with polution, melting icecaps, a lot of dead species in the animal world, storms, warm weather, and the list goes on. And they didnt live a million years ago.
This is just how I feel, in all those catastrophies, where thousands of people die in a storm, a dirt avalanche or a flood, it's earth's revenge for something we did to her. A broken oil tank who kills animals, nature sends a tsunami and takes serveral peoples life. Earth is fighting back in her own way. It's just sad to know that she has to do it.
The point is, even after a couple more thousand years, the earth will still maintain itself without the help of society. Do you really think that an ice age, or global change is going to effect our lives? Hell no...
About the family comment... My children and my childrens children are going to be just fine without some treehugging zealots trying to preach to them about what the zealots consider to be wrong by not being "environmentally aware." Again, it took the Earth many thousands of years to maintain itself. It is not going down any disasterous roads any time soon, if it cleans itself up, then so be it.
I think the government would be putting those distructive thoughts into societies minds about "environmental safety." Who else could manipulate through media exposure for the sake of a quick buck? Since that is virtually all it is, just another money making scheme. Don't believe all the hype about global "what ever." The Earth is not going anywhere. Your children and their children may experiance hardships, this is a given. We all do.
But what the hell does this thread have to do with vamp"y"/"i"res?
Maybe Rabynion was thinking that vampyres, who have more hightened sense, would have a more sensible view on this topic. (sorry for my english lol, I just didnt knew how to word it better)
A more sensible view? HA, that is calling the kettle black, since they cannot even get along with their own... Let alone figure out what they consider as wrong with anything within their community, even to try and fix that which has yet to be broken.
Vampires should, in my opinion.. Not be environmentally aware. Since the vampire is deemed as immortal, they may be able to outlast the cockroaches. That is unless we are talking about the dipsh*ts that spell it with a "y" and go by the term HLV (Human Living Vampyre) and thus this is calling the kettle black. When they cannot even agree amongst themselves after 20 years of gaining community awareness.
Bah!
Hey now there lol, I'm no dips**t. And I'm for sure not claiming to be immortal lmao. I'm very mortal. And HLV sounds too much like HIV :S Anyway, it was just a thought.
Okay, the way I see it, is that yes global warming is destroying our planet, and I would at least like my son to grow up with fresh air in his lungs, and not have to worry about global flooding. There is honestly one other thing I worry about. Yellowstone Natural Park. For those of you who do not know, Yellowstone is a Super Volcano, which is over due for an eruption. If Yellowstone where to erupt in the near future, let say.... twenty years, half of the United States would be covered in molten rock and burning ashes in a matter of minutes. That just where the fun begins, because in the next hour or two, all of the U.S. will be covered in ash. Blocking out the sun, ending a good fraction on life....... They say the soonest it could go off is after 2012, I know, I know, 2012, end of the world bull, but I have researched this topic for a few years now. More of a reality now, sadly. So yeah, I recycle, yeah I try to take care of the earth as much as I can for a better future for my son, but there's really nothing you can do when mother earth has a big, molten, Hellfire period. (No offense ladies)

Don't tell me you believe all that global warming hype... For pete's sake, the world is not going to end anytime soon. The Earth may just clean itself up a little. We are all casualties of that war. It does not mean that any national parks will be erupting sooner rather then later.
You are posting about the great ring of fire, from each volcano from around the world, erupting from a chain reaction caused by earthquakes and bringing on tidle waves.
Again, the earth is not going anywhere. If a terrific earthly destruction happens, it will not be caused by any type of global warming or cooling. Quit with the media manipulation already. I have yet to see any real scientific proof or evidence that global warming is actually happening, just a bunch of propaganda being tossed around by those who think they have expertise in the field to be spewing such crap.
Give me some hard facts about your environment and how global warming is having an effect on it, hard facts!
I do agree with that SS.
I'm not sure who all is being called a dipshit on this thread either, but usually those doing the name calling others end up looking like one in the end, and not real sure what vamps has anything to do with the environment myself as far as this issue goes but i would imagine that those whom call themselves vampiric here are no different from the rest of us that DO take the time and as small as it is to recycle and try to make those changes may be doing the world some good either way cuz if the landfills can be minimized, that's never a bad thing.
We can clutter the world or we can help clean it up and keep it looking naturally beautiful.
It is not up to the individual, but the owners of the clean-up facilities. If they wanted, they could just as easily take our garbage and seperate the crap individually, thus making more money and creating less land fills. But don't take my word for it, I am far from an environmentalist.
lol I strongly agree with that too SS but i guess those people in the facilities are getting overwhelmed by the garbage of the multitudes and is asking people themselves to help do their part. Sure they could hire more people to do that , then again, i could say that for other job types as well.
And more jobs lead to less depression and stress for families that are left out into the cold. If there is anything called environmentally aware, it may first start with the job situation. More jobs, means a better social structure and thus is one of the key points in taking pride for the Earth. One must build that confidence before making strides toward other factors.
Thankfully I don't need to proof anything, since I was lucky enough to learn about polution and how plants recycle our breathing air, on how chemicals that get pumped into the ground can affect the groundwater and polute it.
It wasnt media who told me, it was school, normal friggin primary and highschool.
And ask Ausralians on how their school kids learn about skin cancer that gets caused through the ozone hole? An ozone hole that gets cause by industrial countries.
Thanks to SS and to Hex... Great comments about (more jobs and Australia.)
Yeah, lets have more jobs removing the coal and burning it! That CAN help the Planet. Thanks to Australia, who does have the world's biggest supply of coal... and Thanks to China, who is the biggest of the countries that does burn the coal. Jobs! Yeah, that can "help" the planet with more fishing spots...!!!
Oh! It isn't jobs that is needed, it is new technologies that would help. The problem is that the world goverments wants to raise-taxes and make MORE money from the "global warming" situation.
There are some who concer that the whole media frenzy on Global Warming, is a Prestidigitation gimmic for the political clash that may.. or may not be brewing.. mayhaps ready to boil over, and when the loose media packet failed to make it far.. they allowed the 2012ers a window of propagation.
Actually the whole implied World Political idealism may be the work of actual vampires who are furious at all the bunk PR they are getting.
dabbler, very presumptious of you! The idea that someone would belittle an individuals personal "vision" .(while talking about vampires that has nothing to do with the topic of the thread). that is just so damn rude!
I thought that the topic was about "Global Warming-Environment", not really about vampires... *shrugs*
I think it would devastate the vampire race. It doesnt matter to me tho cuz I'm a lycan and the sun doesnt affect me the way it does to the vampire race. Nonetheless I have alot of vampire friends and it would affect them a lot
As a vampire I am enviornmentally aware as much as I can be without it becoming a life long obsession and that is the real focus here.
If we would do what is neccessary to be completely enviornmentally friendly then how would that effect our lives as a whole?
Could you give up, burning any sort of fuel that includes using trains, buses and planes? Only walking?
Eat only things that you grow yourselves because every bit of food the hits a supermarket carries a footprint that harms the earth.
Not have any form of animal tested products, medicines or foods?
The point is to find a balance that you are comfortable with without finger pointing from others.
I personally think Global Warming is a farce, its always happened throught earths natural life without human input, you have only got to look at the ice age and its sunsequent thawing out to see that and is it really warming up? where is the proof? and I mean real data not fudged government data or theories from proffessors with too much facial hair.
A university in the UK did a study about pollution in the UK and they found that cows produce more harmfull gases from their backsides than all the human input in the UK so if we all eat beef and lots of it then we reduce harmful gases do we not?
Okay that was a joke but its serves its purpose that you cannot beleive everything you are told or read without hard proof.
I am enviornmentally conscious as a vampire yes and I do my bit but I wont let it take over my life, its too short.
i have thought a lot about the environment and the answer to me is obvious if our food suffers then we suffer it is called the food chain. we may be at the top but we are not immune to what happens to our environment after all we live in it as well.
Back to reality...let us assume vampirism is the next stage in evolution.
The ability to tap other energies and other realms.
Regardless of this ability 99.9999percent of all species to have walked this earth are now extinct.
This planet is NOT a safe place.
Vampires,Lycans and other kin, humans, and most other creatures that walk beside us now will almost certainly die out due to climate change.
It is NOT an IF , it is a WHEN?
"dabbler, very presumptious of you! The idea that someone would belittle an individuals personal "vision" .(while talking about vampires that has nothing to do with the topic of the thread). that is just so damn rude!"
I actually found this statement to be a bit funny... As well as ~Dabs~ statement to be entirely speculative. Those who would think otherwise, may be taking the concept of the vamp"y"re a bit too seriously. ~Dab~ nade a very good point. Mayhaps his speculative opinion could be more on the mark then a few others here.
