In today's world many people have STD's and don't say anything to anyone about that.

So when people share blood or use blood for magick or what have you, what safety steps do you use to make sure you do not become sick from this, or your partner does not become sick from this?

For me if I use any one besides my ork, I have them tested and myself, if they do not have a clean bill of health I do not use them.

If they are clean then I sanitize everything and after words I clean up, safety is very big for me.

Well so far I've only fed from a few people in my life and they were all clean. I ussually only drink from my lovers and since I'm committed it'll probably only be her from now on, so no worries here :)

I generally sanitize with alcohol, and flame and even then I will only feed from my husband. People can be very sketchy, so I try to be vigilant.

I don't feed from people but when it comes to sex partners I make sure they're tested first. As a medic, I have to get tested every year anyway but I do it every six months, even if I'm not sexually active, for my own sanity. Sometimes, things can be missed... It's better to be safe than sorry.

There are no safty issues in sharing body fluids. Even donors are screened, but that is not a 100% safe guard issue that you won't contract a pathogen from recieving.

Really, the only way is to go down to your local Health Department and get tested.......it's free and anonymous. I ran security in a hospital and you wouldn't believe the amount of people that came in thinking they were clean and find out that they have Hep or HIV. Here's a good source for more info:

basically same requirements that i would use for unprotected sex.

Yes, but there are certain things one can be carrying that don't show up in tests. (Family member told this at the hospital recently). They don't have certain testing for males in regard to some of the viruses that can be carried that cause cervical cancer. I would say use female donors unless you have been with a donor for a long time or are referred to someone else who can vouch for the safety of the donor, but still get them tested as much as you can. This in my opinion and of course get tested if you go that route which in this day and age can be very dangerous. This is why many in the vampire community are frowning on drinking blood at this time because it has become so tainted. Still it boils down to personal choice and need.

Get them tested.make sure they are "safe people" meaning no high risk behavors

That's very simple for me. The only donor that I drink blood from is my husband or my son when he gets a cut.

And not in a bad or ritualistic way with my son LOL I kiss the wound that's bleeding, well once, and it makes him feel better then I licked the blood from my lips and cleaned and patched him all up! ♥

Bloodletting ritualistically serves purposes for driving away parasites, sacrificing (last i checked that's still a legal no no), and a couple other things.
Bloodletting for fun is pretty much just for fun, but any bloodletter should know damn well they are clean before they risk anyone.

The best way with blood sharing is to do it with someone you're in a long term relationship with...and hope they don't cheat on you! Its not like you can just meet someone go home and stick a condom on your teeth.

It's stupid people that don't know how to use protection, and ignorant people that refuse to use protection that ruin it for the rest of us and infect others. No one can be trusted anymore. This is coming from my perspective as a donor.

When it comes to STD's no one can be taken for their word anymore. No one is trusted by me.

My donor is to test monthly For any kind of std or illness.. Before I feed he does a 48 hour fast as well as taking antibiotics and eating alot of foods high in antioxidants to make sure his blood is clean and body is rid of most impurities. Make sure your donor is not feeding off of anyone and if they are having sex make sure it is protected monogamy with their partner is a must for me.
I will only have one donor at a time. My donor also is tested for any drugs. Only drugs I allow are to be prescribed by the doctor. STDs aren't all you have to worry about when feeding off of someones blood. Make sure your mouth is totally clean. I also take antibiotics for 72 hours before feeding. As well as brushing my teeth before the feed, no smoking before the feed, using Listerine to kill any germs in my mouth that have been there. I do not want the wound to get infected.
It is your duty to make sure that you are clean as well not just the person you are feeding off of.
The new Black Veil is against blood feeding but for me that is my main sorce of energy aside from my rockstar lol. :)
So if you fallow the black veil I would suggest reading the rewritten book if you haven't already.
Make sure you are as safe as possible when you feed, it is dangerous you have to trust yourself and the other person very much..
I always Dr. the wound after feeding. With an antiseptic liquid cream and bandaging. Making sure they keep it clean until healed too is a must.

Also sense I do piercings I am trained in sterilization and CPR it's very smart to know how to do CPR read up on blood borne pathogens and learn how to completely rid bacteria and anything else before you do anything!
To your studying. It may be some work but it is way better then catching something that can kill you and your partner!
