Does anyone else ever have dreams where you know somehow that there's a specific goal in mind? That there's something you have to do, some task to complete, someone/thing to kill, something to find out, and you always wake the minute you complete the task? More than that, the instant you complete your task, you instinctively know that your job is done, and you can go now.
I've been having them on and off for the past couple years, and it's been making me think. They're always linear and logical (no talking mushrooms or anything) with a clear objective, and I always wake the minute it's done. There's only been one instance of me being woken by someone else that interrupted the dream, and it made all my dreams chaotic and nonsencical for a week after.
It's just odd, so I thought I'd ask if anyone else had any experience in this matter.
talking with my friend the other day on dreaming. he always has this dream (since he was young) where he is digging outta a tunnel and he gets stuck always at the end of the tunnel. i told him maybe its his subconcious telling him that once he gets through that obstacle( subconsiouly whatever it represents in the real word, he will achieve his goal in life. once he breaks through that tunnel in his dream his life will come full circle and then he will only just begin to experience life.what is your take on goal oriened dreaming???
Thats an interesting concept. I'm not sure if I've ever had dreams like that as I tend not to remember what I dream about unless it was very important. I suppose that that kind of dream could happen. That's something that I'm going to have to look into.
Yes I have! I have found that they come quit often. I also repeat the dream if the task wasn't completed like a re occuring dream.
It's not a reacurring Dream. It's always a different situation, the only similarity is that they're always very clear, I know exactly what it is I have to do, and I wake the instant I've done it.
Well if it's not a reacuring dream then perhaps it a message to you. you mentioned that you always wake up when you've completed what ever task was set before you. If I had to say I'd guess that you are being sent a message, but as to the meaning of that I haven't a clue. That's for you to find out.
No with me it happens theo pposite I wake up exactly as I decided to start to complete the task seams it is a sign that my wishes are not going to come true and that nothing is going to have a happy ending...lovely.

From time to time I will have a dream similar to what you are speaking about. Its always interesting to experience and to see how the day unfolds after it.
I think dreams are there for that reason. Which explains why some people will go through life never remembering their dreams and there are those that remember them every waking day. I rarely remember my dreams, all of which are something that is going to happen someday soon. When I do not have dreams of this sort I look at them as symbolizing something. And most of the time, if I intrepret them well enough, they turn out to be right.
I've had dreams where I was on a mission, but never dreams where I was trying to accomplish something important to real life. For example, I had a dream that myself and four other friends had to covertly break into a castle. What's even stranger is that it was a continuation of another dream where we failed to complete the task. Weird...
I've had many different dreams and such, like most others...
it's the one dream I have on my profile that I've had over and over for YEARS and I can describe in detail the bedroom, the hallway, the landing, staircase, the library, but never get any further...that is what is driving me crazy....when do I find out who and why and what?
if i had that problem id set my alarm at 2 hour intervals all night to wake up in mid-dream thus causing intersting chaotic dreams thereafter, whats the point of dreaming if its just a routine?
I know there are messages for us in our dreams....the need for a dream journal is very important.
This si your sub-conscience working through problems inside your mind. It is easier to deal with a problem if you give it a physical face, something that you can fight against. Keep in mind, dreams are full of symbolism.
As it has been said, your dreams are always trying to tell you something.
The best thing to do is to start keeping a dream diary next to your bed. As soon as you wake up, write down your feelings, the colours, the tasks and how you felt after completing your task down. Review them, and see if you can find any paticular patterns within reoccuring dream structures.
I often feel very motivated in dreams, and I can often control what happens. It's a way of working through my thoughts, and using your dreams in this way can often be very refreshing.
All of this is very interesting to me. Have you lost a loved one, or somebody close to you that could be reaching out to you in , your dreams ?
Maybe that is reason . I have 3 very close family members who has past on , and i dream about them constantly.

Echo said what i was basicly gonna say. so i'll agree with Echo
what is even more irritating is knowing you have a task but you are inhibited from achieving it for some reason or another...
That would usu. represent a constrictive element found in waking that require your attention to relieve tension/stress.
I think what is more important than you finishing each task and then awakening is: What are the tasks? What do they represent in your waking life?
Are there other people in your dreams? If so who are they and what part do they play in helping you complete your task.
What symbols do you see in your dreams? What do these symbols mean and how do they apply to your dream or waking life?
Do you see colors and if so what do those colors mean?
Do you pay attention to the little things that seem insignificant? Sometimes they are more significant than we realize when we piece the whole dream together.
These tasks may seem very simple to recognize in your dream but there is so much more to them, because what you think you are accomplishing may not be that at all, and is hidden in all the other aspects of your dream that I mentioned above!
If I can be of any help, please feel free to message me! I have been practicing lucid dreaming for total recall for about 2 years or so now and though I am not an expert I may be able to help!
