First I want to wish everyone a Happy Mabon! And of course it's a full moon! weeeeeee

Second, I was thinking since we don't always get Sabbats falling on a full moon, how do you feel about the significance of the two together?

Do you think that magic done on a Sabbat that falls under a full moon is stronger or is there no difference than if it were done on a Sabbat only or a full moon only?

I think spells done with a full moon are stronger if the spell calls for a full moon.
Sabbats are always high spell working days as the fall into sect with the God.
If both the full moon and the Sabbat fall together by chance that is means for some serious spell working.

Happy celebrations what every your path this second harvest time. Just about all of the myths and legends popular at this time of the year focus on the themes of life, death, and rebirth. Celebrate Mabon yourself with a feast -- and the bigger the better, so call your friends and go eat the berry’s and fruits of the season.. order a big steak or something but don’t over do the drink lol
A time for balance is needed as the light and dark are at a equinox of change for the darker longer nights.

Cornish craft my first teachings we have many names from coven to coven and locals on what we call this time some just call it “harvest home” which it is More to the point as to what we do; a time for home coming; it rains a lot; so tons of hard work getting all the crops in dry and so forth.. everyone was needed to gather all the crops and we sure had lots of food and scrumpy cider spare to go around. Scrumpy is a magical brew of well what we do know is apples and herbs or meat like lamb which melts into the acid.. sorry scrumpy ..often rats fall in due to the fumes as they run around the barn or shed it is being made in .. to add that nip needed and one can use it to strip paint of furniture. lol Were not too into the Cornucopia idea as it is Romans who came after our tin and crops; however everyone this side with a havest made the most of the time. More fancy is Feast of Avalon; my duck in a goose in a pig and roasted is mighty fine with the best roast potatoes and root veg and berry jams and stuffing a recipe ill share later some day; funny enough I seen a duck/goose/pig roast at my local coop all ready to be cooked. Some say it wasn’t a sabbat called Mabon till… well ..Aidan Kelly is said to of given it it’s name of Gardner fame and studies from a welsh mythology. Who cares it is party time and familys getting to gether and sharing the fruits of all the hard work.
Christians attempts to convert the locals of my home down the southwest made Mabyn an Early medieval saint in Cornwall she/he was made and recorded as given a church already called St Mabyn funny enough and made a couple hundred years before in an attempt to name a venue after ??? maybe a celebration called Mabon to get us to go there to celebrate this second harvest?… I wonder if that’s where Aidan Kelly got the idea as well??? They also didn’t know the sex of the kid there making into a saint; but what ever it’s the thought that counts lol Her/His dad a Irish king problem is the Christians made and named a lot of churches after his children all I can say is he must have been a nice guy and three wives later he had a lot of kids. lol

The Druids call this celebration, Mea'n Fo'mhair this is when you thank in your way the green man and first remember to fertilize your plants in the house.. lol I got a lot of fertilizer sticks at the store, im also off to the park where we have our meets to fertilize the sacred oaks that Andrea Shea Mark and the kids and dogs had a picnic under when we had our first meet out side. Caylalilylion from our group noticed the trees when walking through the park. So if you know of some plants and sacred oaks get fertilizing… Offering of ciders, wines, herbs and fertilizers are appropriate. Some more modern Druids call it Alban Elfed.

Due to a lot of high energies and so forth this can also be a time of off balance.

I meditate on dealing with the years baggage good and bad and find balance.
Pop out to a nice place and collect things around reminding you of the coming autumn and get balanced. I also do a qi gong form of summoning the elements to give balance in my chakras.

The moon coincides with the autumn Equinox at 10.09pm
( wonders if Christine O'donell will be out and about )...
He hee. That aside the moon will be red tonight, or so I hear.
The blood red moon rising is sometimes associated with catastrophe, where did this notion arise?

The full moon in December also falls on the Winter Solstice, and there will be an eclipse of the moon a well. During the moon eclipses there is a phenomonen called "blood on the moon", which does not always occur with each eclipse. But scares the hell out of some people. The particulate matter in the atmosphere filters the moonlight and causes the red colour.
I am always very excited when this happens. Some view it as an evil omen, and maybe it is..to them.
So be watching on the Yule Sabbat for a real show.

Greetings everyone....just adding my 2 cents, for what it's worth!

I tend to feel that spell work, or any workings for that matter, are fueled even more by a full moon that falls on a sabbat. Particularly strong on these occasions is a working of sex magic. A great way to work up power and energy and then release it with your magical intent.
