we all join as lower levels and work our ways to reach the high levels on the dark network sites
but after accomplishing these goals of being a higher ranked level and a owner of one of the many groups that the dark network offers
do you feel in any way that there's not much to achieve afterwards
or do you feel there is still much to achieve on both a status level and a level of being a long time member
please share all of your thoughts and opinions.
they could add a line about how long you've been registered to the level scoring but i think that is probably not a good idea since what if you never log in and yet your level still goes up for doing nothing.
There's really nothing to be accomplished after reaching level 20.
Sire isn't prestigious anymore. Everyone and their mum has reached it.
Coven Master isn't prestigious anymore. Everyone thinks once they hit Sire they're good enough to run a Coven. Half the societies around don't deserve to be around.
Acolyte is easy as all hell to get. Nothing there.
There is nothing on VR worth getting anymore.
Bloody hell that's rather negative isn't it!
Reaching Sire for me in the olden days before the changes was really hard and this site is far more than just a game.
I have never been an Acolyte and I have failed the test so I don't think that it is easy. Perhaps if I had an education I would of passed with flying colours lol
If there is nothing for you on VR any more what is the reason for you staying?
For me, it was never about the sense of achievement; it was about the journey. With the exception of reaching Sire, I've always considered the levels to be arbitrary.

For me –all I want to do is reach High Sire. Just so I can have someone call me that once. To be a top dog… the big cheese. I WILL reach it!!
O.o
But by then Cancer will add more levels and I will never be on the top level.
*whines*
It is a never ending cycle MAN!! It is like the VR coffee mug all over again. Damn you Cancer! Damn you to hell!
Kidding aside- it is a website, nothing more. Real life is so much more important. If it brings out such strong feelings from you (either love or hate) then you might want to look at your life again. It is here when I wish to give it time, enjoy the friends I have made over the years.
Theban -
I stay here for my Coven members. I stay so they don't get swept up in a system where other Coven masters only care about favor on, as VW39 said, something that is only a website.
Catharsis yes VR is just another website however it must of meant something to you because you are a lifetime member!
I thought getting favour is one part of the VR game, one only needs to look at your level and time spent on VR to know and understand this.
So catharsis what your saying then is your only staying on VR because of your friends list lol, ok.
When you stated “There is nothing on VR worth getting anymore.” I misunderstood your statement ; )
"Catharsis yes VR is just another website however it must of meant something to you because you are a lifetime member!"
I did not buy the Lifetime Membership. This account was given to be by a friend after I gave my original MBK/Prophecy account a way. She was the one who bought the Lifetime on this account and my old account.
"I thought getting favour is one part of the VR game, one only needs to look at your level and time spent on VR to know and understand this."
Favor has never mattered to me. My Coven has never required favor to be earned; not to mention if it did mean something, I wouldn't have given away 400,000 favor over the course of two days.
"So catharsis what your saying then is your only staying on VR because of your friends list lol, ok."
No, I said due to my Coven members. There is a difference.
Very astute of you catharsis lol, so you used to be MBK. I always wondered what happened to you. You were also admin I seem to remember.
So you gave away your accounts and then was given a lifetime account.... I find that quite interesting
Again out of interest was your MBK account a lifetime account or your other ones because I am not able to remember?
Ok when you stated “There is nothing on VR worth getting anymore your statement failed to differentiate between the Rave and friendship. Thanks for clearing that up. : )
Ok whenever a person takes a website like this and turns it into nothing more than a game....of course you are going to lose interest. There are far better "games" to be played out there.
There are many others that create alt profiles for various reasons such as Sexy said a while back was to help out other covens, or my CM creating ones to help others out for various reasons.
I really don't have a good reason to create more than one and I find it to be more honest with others BY keeping one. Making one and deleting and starting over again from scratch, doesn't count.
VR is like WOW in a way to some people. Once you hit level 80 you don't have much else to do but keep things "routine". But at least programs like WOW gives it's members a little more excitement by coming up with another storyline and more advancement in level to try and keep them coming back for more.
That may have to be the case here to keep people more active and interested. Change things up a bit, come up with more ideas, listen to OTHER people's ideas and see where it leads.

MBK gave at least one account up for a charity. Which lead to a few hungry people being feed as it was sold for close to $200.00
If I am not wrong- he gave two accounts up for the charity.
He helped many with the gift of the account/s.
The point I was attempting to get across is, by MBK or catharsis formulating such a statement I found it a little contrary. That is just the way I saw the words...perhaps it's my tired old eyes.
Thank you, because the only thing I know about MBK is what I have already stated.
Robert Mugabe recently told a British journalist that he gave to charity
Being active in charity of any kind is exemplary, well done catharsis.

Not everyone is here to achieve something. It's a great place to connect with people. You aren't going to get along with everyone- but where is in this whole wide world does anyone get along with everyone?
This is subjective. Some people find a whole heck of a lot to do and even achieve here. Even if there are a lot of Covens you don't find worthy, the opportunity to start a new one and be better than what you find is lacking is available. And that's pretty darn cool.
And the Acolyte test- tons of people fail it, numerous times. It's an achievement for many. Just to be able to assist in that manner is a big deal for them.
All that- and there is always new stuff in the works for this place. New things being unveiled all the time. It's worth hanging out to see what the next big thing will be.
*edit addition*
I do want to add to the comment 'it's just a website'. The internet is a valid way we communicate today just like letters, phone calls, and hanging out face to face. Real people join this site and make real friends. I find my time spent here just as valid as the time I share in all the other ways I do.
If I make a friend here, it's real. It's the internet- but that doesn't make it fake. I know some people don't give a crap about this place... but they sure spend a whole hell of a lot of time here all the while. You don't have to stay here just because friends are here and you hate it otherwise. If they are really friends, they'll meet up with you somewhere else online.
That's not a stab at Vampirewitch's comment... it's another perception.
I agree with imagesinwords.
There is nothing holding you here if you don't like it, no matter what level you are. There are new things constantly coming out and new people to help to learn the old things plus the new things. I think it's evolving all the time and the people who find it stale and old or miss the "old VR" should take the time to discover the newness and become involved with it.
People devote a lot of time and energy to VR - even the ones who complain about it. The difference = NOTHING is holding anyone here. If you are not happy and are staying because you think you need to - - - don't.

Both ladies have great points. :)
Don't get me wrong- VampireRave is a site I love. I am willing to give time to it, on each day for hours mostly. I care for the site because I think, as far as online sites go, this is one of the best. Heck- I log on here each day for at least a little time and I don’t even check my email that often.
To me it is like life- you will make out of it what you want.
And in that way we have the drama, the fights, the ‘online’ relationships, the power plays and the bullies. And the ones who flat out hate it, nothing good to say about it, but still log on each day for whatever reason.
Lots of great things have been said already on this.
And I wanted to add my own two cents. It will be 4 years that I have been here since I first joined VR in January 06 under my orginal LadyDarkRayne acct which I gave away when I got a second acct. There are several accounts that I have given away as well.
I did how ever take a leave for almost 6 months and came back in May of 08, after several people that I had become very close to asked me to come back.
I enjoy the time I spend on here, adding things to my covens pages and rating and adding things to the database and of course reading profiles and articles.
Sure we all have times when things seem to be boring, which is why I can't wait to see the new things that Cancer has in store for us with the new updates.
I find VR to be a creative place with all sorts of people involved. I am not fond of the coven system but its not my site. I just feel that some get a little over zealous with rules and threats that for some it takes away some of the comraderie. I realize there is a game here and for me it has been challenging.
I noticed the Sires have a lot to say and I don't blame you but my goal is to get each one I have and I have 3, into Sire position. I have worked hard to do it and in a more basic way. I have thought of leaving at times but I am not so sure I would give away all my hard work. I don't think there needs to be level changes again, but just something to change it up to make it a little more interesting for those at higher levels. Us peons are busy trying to get to that lofty place.
I wouldn't be able to just have one profile because I like creating the profiles, that is what I find to be fun and I am not interested in owning a coven or being any sort of management person here. It was sort of an interlude from the daily grind but sometimes it does conflict with time I can put in. I sometimes wish collecting favor wasn't such a big thing here so it didn't get so competitive all the time. Some have a problem with just relaxing and having fun with it all. Things get too intense and then people who were good friends have words over what I think are silly things and one has the power to blind the other one, which looks like a very shallow act to me. I understand if the person has been extremely rude, etc. but I think some get carried away with power. If someone doesn't want to be in a coven I think they should be let go to fend for themselves instead of held somewhere against their will game or no game. This hasn't happened to me but I have seen it happen to others and I feel it spoils a lot of the fun to be had here. Just my observations.

"Very astute of you catharsis lol, so you used to be MBK. I always wondered what happened to you. You were also admin I seem to remember."
"Were" being the keyword.
"So you gave away your accounts and then was given a lifetime account.... I find that quite interesting"
I don't see why, and this has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
"Again out of interest was your MBK account a lifetime account or your other ones because I am not able to remember?"
It was a lifetime as I stated a post or two ago.
"Ok when you stated “There is nothing on VR worth getting anymore your statement failed to differentiate between the Rave and friendship. Thanks for clearing that up. : )"
You make no sense.
VampireWitch39 -
It went for a good cause, and I'd do it again~

In regards to your edit edition, I never stated that "it's just a website" doesn't mean it wasn't valid time.
However my statement was aimed at Society Masters that treat members like favor slaves without regards to their feelings, as well as caring about something like favor on a website that won't be around forever.
Catharsis/MBK ...Dylan isn't it?
Mrsban often states I make little sense : )
Just to make this clear I am not looking for drama with you and I have no interest as to why if you were Admin you either 'gave up' your position or had it 'taken away' from you unless it is connected with the topic at hand.
The reason why it appears to makes no sense to you is because you are unable to see the direction of my response to your original statement.
I would also like to add that, Yes you did state that the MBK account was a lifetime account but I wasn't sure if you had bought the original or if you had any others which may also have been lifetime If you had read carefully and understood, you would of noticed the direction of my questions. One wouldn't have multiple accounts if the Rave meant nothing now would they, or run a Coven and have a lifetime membership.
As I stated I know nothing of you, however let's again go right the way back to the basic statement that you made. Apart from the use of the word “everyone” because that's a metaphoric violation.
To be blunt, it gave the impression that you were stating the Rave is crap and means little to nothing for you and perhaps my responses to your statement were a tad freudian
“There's really nothing to be accomplished after reaching level 20.
~Sire isn't prestigious anymore.
Everyone and their mum has reached it.
Everyone thinks once they hit Sire they're good enough to run a Coven.
Half the societies around don't deserve to be around.
Acolyte is easy as all hell to get. Nothing there.
There is nothing on VR worth getting anymore~
Looking at that last sentence I would say that you have actually found something on VR worth getting and keeping, you wrote it yourself...Friends.
I know that I don't have the skills to run a Coven and I am a Sire and to repeat myself, I failed the 'easy' Acolyte test, as have lots of other Admins who have since passed.
I think that there is something for everyone on VR to like.
I also agree with what images and LadyKrystalynDarkstar stated if a site had no interest to me then it would be logical to leave because I still would be able to contact my friends through emails or another source.
I wouldn't stay on the site purely to stop other Coven masters from obtaining members and the favour which they had acquired. That just appears ridiculous to me and doesn't make any sense looking at your last sentence, of your original statement.
Thankyou for explaining your thoughts to me Catharsis. I fully understand now and this of course is just my opinion, and now the matter is closed for me.
I wanted to be Sire, done, wanted to try acolyte done, wanted to be coven master, done, wanted to just stay around and enjoy my time online thats what I do now.
I kept the coven and got an alliance for the 2 covens I care the most about ( no offence to anyone here) and its all I need now, my members can relax, they log or not, earn favors or not, post or not, don't matter to me, its only virtual life... I live in a real world.
I love being here because I have met wonderful people, a few select, a small number of persons that I consider worth knowing and I am happy to know them.
take care people and have a marvellous day :)
I've never pondered these questions because I was never really interested in the system games.
All I wanted is to enjoy my time here, meeting people, posting in the Forum, writing in my Journal, reading and commenting on others' Journals, etc...
In fact I took a long time to reach Sire because I took it slowly and after I reached it, I continued doing the same things.
VR was never a game for me, it's just a hobby and I like it. I like it and take it seriously but if I get sad/angry or see that I spent too much time on it and ignored the real life stuff,I can just log off and take a break from it.
i think one aspect that would be cool to work on would be the whole favor earning aspect,we all know society owners can buy members or donate favour to other societies, but i think it would be cool if these societies could buy other things with their favour for their members etc.
Glad you laughed, dont know if that was sarcasm or if you did mean it. Either way I wasnt pointing out anyone is particular but I will say your post got me fired up. I meant that post for all the Sires who bitch that there is nothing left to do. Hope I didnt offend you, I may be a bitch but I still dont out right attack people :)
I am not bitching about being a sire or saying there is nothing to do, I am only stating a fact, real life is real, virtual life is virtual, and I prefer the real thing.
I get bored playing WoW and D2 after 12 minutes or less... so imagine... it takes a lot to keep my interest.
I want ym life to be interesting so I want vr to be too :)
I beleive everyone has its reason to be on here and they are all valid, regarldess of what everyone else thinks.
The only thing that matter is: is the reason you are here and leveling up a valid one for you?
if yes, then good, if no? then maybe you should pull the plug for a little and think about why you come here and level.
