I have heard various theories on existence. I have heard that we have a linear existence, I have also heard the theory that we have an omni-existence.
I have pondered this long and think it more likely that even though we percieve a flow to our reality that we have a stationary existence. What are your thoughts on this?
What you describe is our linear perception of time. We are forced to view this particular perception because we exist on the physical plane. We work in 3 dimensions, breathe in 3 dimensions and this dimension is affected by the metrics of time. Thus we perceive ourselves in a linear fashion. We are born, grow old, and die.
Occultists, however, see that our mind is capable of viewing things on a multi-dimensional level. One of the accepted views is that our mind exists in 3 realms, the conscious mind, the psychic mind and the divine mind.
If our minds exist in this fashion, then it is indeed possible that we exist outside linear mode and rather can exert force and control upon the conscious world through the concerted effort of all three.
The conscious mind, which handles day to day duties and is the personality and ego, produces the need. It determines what we want and produces the desire to obtain a different result.
The psychic mind, which is called the lower mind, handles our intuition and instinct. It is where instinctual thought takes place and sometimes bubbles to the surface of the conscious mind in a flash of "I get that feeling". A lot of times, it is correct and you are listening to your psychic mind expressing its apprehension or its approval of something. In terms of magick, the psychic mind is the intermediary between our conscious mind and the divine mind.
The divine mind, or higher self, sees where we have been and where we are going and holds the solid picture of all lives past, present, and future. As such, it helps us to steer our path through the Universe by enacting out of a greater good (if one is inclined to believe in greater good).
The acknowledgement of these three levels of the mind suggests that we indeed exist on multiple levels. We have limited access to other levels and can exert control over the pathway on the linear existence.
What you say about us perceiving it as linear, which plays into the perceptive reality theory. I've read about the mind existing in three realms, and it makes me wonder (I know I'm getting a little on the cliche philosophical side here), what if the three realms really are one realm but in order for us to cope with the way it works our minds seperate them, thus producing the appearance of three?
Yes. You are definitely waxing philosophical... LoL ala "if a tree falls in the woods but no one hears it, did it ever happen?"
I suppose it could be possible that all three of these levels are in reality one. If that is the case, then how does one gain access to either of the other two? For our suggestion states that we limit our view of the other two in order to "cope" better and not be overwhelmed.
When one speaks of the metaphysical, one is working with subjective material at best, so one perception will still yield the three results. There must be the conscious self, the unconscious self, and the possibility of the divine self. Perhaps it's because of our ordered perceptions that they are listed as three, but this definition makes it possible to discern and dissect what makes the otherwise inexplicable possible.
If you want to look at a static view, take a look at the majority of religions at large in the world today. They work in traditions passed down one generation to another and have lost the ability to perceive on multiple dimensions.
Demian:> You might be interested in this web site: Quantum Consciousness. This site leads to several resources of the proponents of the consciousness existing on the quantum level. I am currently fighting my way through a book called "The physics of consciousness". It's tough reading for one without a scientific background, but interesting.
That's true, without the distinction the only explanation for certain things is "miracle" I have found too through the work that I've done that the energy I use works beyond the physical realm, if it didn't there are some things i can do that I wouldn't be able to. This would make it seem more likely that we have an omni-existence.
I've never thought of applying those theories to this subject before, very interestin. Now I'm going to have to start doing some research, maybe I'll come to a better understanding with that in mind.
I think we exist on more than one plane, the physical and the metaphysical.and the subconcieous.
Reality is relative, existence subjective.
We exist here an now, that is what we do know, lets focus on that. We are specks on a rock hurtling through the vacuum of space. I think in some cases it may be narcissistic of us to believe we exist in other places as well. I think it is a very psychologically predictable human thought.
I have to point out that because of the way our minds work, we do not KNOW much when it comes to reality, but they say reality is perception. So what our minds believe, not us, is what is real.
I can't truly contribute to any of this in the realm of adding to the theoretical discussion, but I do have an interesting thought:
Humans, though bestowed with intelligence, are not, and never will be, omniscient. I believe humans will stive for all their existence for the ultimate knowledge, though I don't think it is truly possible as humans are not physically capable of perceiving all existing dimensions.
For this reason, I think we can absolutely ask the question of how we perceive existence, but I don't think we will ever have a true answer since we are not able to properly perceive it. Does that make ANY sense?
Isn't the linear perception of time mostly a Christian based perception? Prior to that I think many cultures believed in a "circle" where everything that is or was will eventually be again. That there is no beginning or end just and endless cycle for ever changing, but never really stopping. I know that my own Native American traditions teach us that time is not linear but a spiral and all living things are part of a cycle.
Threads about Vampire Rave or of a vampire, gothic, occult, or paranormal nature.
I dont see this thread fitting into any of these categories
excuse me if I am wrong
Your advice to Dominars on how to moderate the forum is appreciated, but unnecessary.

i do belive you are right on that one..... ive herd something simular like that.... but whos to say its not possible no one really knows for sure......this is an interesting question and thery however ive not herd much about it .... it might be a good subject to read up on.... maybe even do some reaserch.......but i do believe one thing our minds are more capable then anyone knows..........
Kytrin - wouldn't a discussion regarding peoples preception of time and space and how that might tie into the existance of more than one plain, fall under either the paranormal or certain pagan and occultist beliefs?
I'm not trying to be confrentational, I just thought I'd try and point out how this topic might be considered relevant.
I have a feeling it would be gone by now if irrelevant. It is plenty relevant depending on your view of the topic.
These ontological-type things usually give me a head ache. But I guess mine is near enough to that of Jenova's.
do we really exhist or in our own minds are we really made up
Hello and good evening,
Hey, Hey, Hey... are you saying you merely exist? Or are you living out the life your parents have given you? THAT is the real question... Message me if you want to continue this...
I propose that we live many lives over. Some individuals can remember these past lives and others cannot. In these past lives we develop the souls that pass from one life to the next until finally we earn passage to Heaven or Hell. The deeds that we do during these lifetimes are what make the determination; however, we do have the ability to learn from and build on those past lives.
In this way we are immortal, not in the modern day term of immortality in which one never dies.
I see time as being an illusion. Our minds don't like to think in a non-linuar manor... so it has to make sence out of what happens to it and around it....
I see time as every thing happens at once... To add to that i see space as not existing eather... all space exists symotaniously all space in one place all that the same time.... Its hard to explain still trying to find the words...
Blessed be,
Nyxx
Nyxx, that is what I am referring to when I talk about a stationary existence, that was the best description for it I could come up with. In case anyone is wondering, omni-existence is quite similar, but it's the reverse.
Have you looked into the theroy of Bi-localities, (of all places to have heard this theroy and others like it I found in a movie I saw called "Suspect Zero").
I have always had an interest in Quantum physics. No the movie wasn't about Quantum perse it was in fact about remote veiwers used by the FBI to locate serial killers.
As I said bi-localities was mentioned, I did a bit of my own reasearch and well found a number of things to further research.
We think we are? There for we are. Another philosophical pun? Perhaps but we build our box and sit tightly secure that what we preceive is true and what others preceive might not be true.
Tibetian monks have believed in the theroy of bi-loaclities for ages..We are in all places at the same time and that all places are possible here at the same time..
I think our minds limit us due basically because we are taught to see hear and think things in a simular fashion.
This is my opinion and as such you know the saying, LOL.
Thank you for having this thread here and good luck with it.
Mikhail
in my opinion you born live your life and then die... and then theres nothing after that... so live it up take what you want and dont regret anything
I exist, and this is the thing that maters most. How I exist, I don't often ponder on.
interesting discussion... while most generally believe in the liner progression, i cannot rule out other forms.
There are many schools of thought that ascribe to the concept of multi-dimensions and multi-linear existence. Simply put, without going into a really long explanation, it's the concept that not only do we exist on various levels, but our consciousness plays in every level at the same time. For every decision that is made, part of our supra-consciousness takes part in the opposite decision. One decides to type this, the other one lives out not typing a response, while yet another doesn't have a VR account at all, and the next doesn't even have a computer. One uses PCs instead of macintosh. That particular line of thinking gives me a headache.
My thoughts on this are that all this is a dumb and energy wastefull even to think of.What one should concentrate on is gaining power, making your both mucles strong and aware gaining numerous abilitys, not to perish(who gives a damn about spiritual existence), who gives a damn if you are existing and how, it is important to control it.........
i think we will never know the answer to many questions...not everything can be proven right in this world, and so much as yet to be discovered
I believe there are many realms of reality , we are just on one plain of existence. Or are we ????????
i know exactly what you mean Placid - it is something i have pondered myself. i used to be interested in making movies, and it occurred to me that maybe reality works in the same way - that our consciousness jumps from one stationary frame of reality to another, giving the illusion of a flow through linear time. it led me to think along further lines. supposing we jump several frames at a time - that there are other realities between the ones we experience? there are so many possibilities opened up by this line of thinking.
Interesting Jenova, that would go along the line of "every choice that we can make, we do make." It's beyond my mind to think through all that, it would mean that there are a never ending number of various realms.
Thank you Karn, I'm glad I'm not the only one out there with this going through my mind.
i think Niskuny is right on this one and i am interested in finding out more on this....
