i was just wondering what averyone's fav vamp poem is, One of my favs is Rudyard Kipling : The Vampire, written in 1897

A fool there was and he made his prayer
(Even as you or I!)
To a rag and a bone and a hank of hair,
(We called her the woman who did not care),
But the fool he called her his lady fair--
(Even as you or I!)

Oh, the years we waste and the tears we waste,
And the work of our head and hand
Belong to the woman who did not know
(And now we know that she never could know)
And did not understand!

A fool there was and his goods he spent,
(Even as you or I!)
Honour and faith and a sure intent
(And it wasn't the least what the lady meant),
But a fool must follow his natural bent
(Even as you or I!)

Oh, the toil we lost and the spoil we lost
And the excellent things we planned
Belong to the woman who didn't know why
(And now we know that she never knew why)
And did not understand!

The fool was stripped to his foolish hide,
(Even as you or I!)
Which she might have seen when she threw him aside--
(But it isn't on record the lady tried)
So some of him lived but the most of him died--
(Even as you or I!)

"And it isn't the shame and it isn't the blame
That stings like a white-hot brand--
It's coming to know that she never knew why
(Seeing, at last, she could never know why)
And never could understand!"

another fav,

Lord Byron, The Giaour

But first on earth, as vampyre sent,
Thy corpse shall from its tomb be rent;
Then ghastly haunt thy native place,
And suck the blood of all thy race;
There from thy daughter,sister,wife,
At midnight drain the stream of life;
Yet loathe the banquet, which perforce
must feed thy livid living corpse.

Dark Danger

The moon is bright;
The night is cold.
Can you be still bold
Despite?

Werewolves roam,
And vampires walk.
Their helpless prey they stalk.
Stay home.

I have a few more in my journal but that's one of my fav.

My favorite of all time, would be John Keats, "La Belle Dame Sans Merci". I am also a fan of Charles Baudelaire's "Metamorphoses of the Vampire"

Meanwhile, from her red mouth the woman, in husky tones,
Twisting her body like a serpent upon hot stones
And straining her white breasts from their imprisonment,
Let fall thses words, as potent as a heavy scent:
"My lips are moist and yielding, and I know the way
To keep the antique demon of remorse at bay.
All sorrows die upon my bosom. I can make
Old men laugh happily as children for my sake.
For him who sees me naked in my tresses, I
Replace the sun, the moon, and all the stars of the sky!
Believe me, learned sir, I am so deeply skilled
That when I wind a lover in my soft arms, and yield
My breasts like two ripe fruits for his devouring-both
Shy and voluptuous, insatiable and loath-
Upon his bed that groans and sighs luxuriously
Even the impotent angels would be damned for me!"

When she drained me of my very marrow, and cold
And weak, I turned to give her one more kiss-behold,
There at my side was nothing but a hideous
Putrescent thing, all faceless and exuding pus.
I closed my eyes and mercifully swooned till day:
Who seemed to have replenished her arteries from my own,
The wan, disjointed fragments of a skeleton
Wagged up and down in a new posture where she had lain;
Rattling with each convulsion like a weathervane
Or an old sign that creaks upon its bracket, right
Mournfully in the wind upon a winter's night.

Immortal: Keats is wonderful. I can see were his poem could perhaps be intrepreted as being Vampire related...but regardless of schoolastic interpretations it is beyond doubt one of his most beautiful pieces of work..

O what can ail thee, knight at arms,
Alone and palely loitering?
The sedge has wither'd from the lake,
And no birds sing.

0 what can ail thee, knight at arms,
So haggard and so woe-begone?
The squirrel's granary is full,
And the harvest's done.

I see a lily on thy brow
With anguish moist and fever dew,
And on thy cheeks a fading rose
Fast withereth too.

I met a lady in the meads,
Full beautiful, a fairy's child;
Her hair was long. her foot was light,
And her eyes were wild.

I made a garland for her head,
And bracelets too, and fragrant zone;
She look'd at me as she did love,
And made sweet moan.

I set her on my pacing steed,
And nothing else saw all day long,
For sidelong would she bend, and sing
A fairy's song.

She found me roots of relish sweet,
And honey wild, and manna dew,
And sure in language strange she said--
I love thee true.

She took me to her elfin grot,
And there she wept, and sigh'd full sore,
And there I shut her wild wild eyes
With kisses four.

And there she lulled me asleep,
And there I dream'd--Ah! woe betide!
The latest dream I ever dream'd
On the cold hill's side.

I saw pale kings, and princes too,
Pale warriors, death pale were they all;
They cried--"La belle dame sans merci
Hath thee in thrall!"

I saw their starv'd lips in the gloom
With horrid warning gaped wide,
And I awoke and found me here
On the cold hill's side.

And this is why I sojourn here,
Alone and palely loitering,
Though the sedge is wither'd from the lake,
And no birds sing.

If I can add, Keats is personally one of my all time favourites.. and here is a piece of Vampire Erotica from the Vampire Master Dom Angelus ::

Two Bodies Entwined

Her eyes close into a deepened slumber
dormant flesh streaming to an astral humber
a mental count, declining to one
her libidinous journey has now begun

Entering through the windows of her mind
a willowy figure of the salacious kind
her mind slips deeper into the abyss
to have her fill of vampiric bliss

To sire her affection, this benighted lover
makes her beckon for his insidious cover
she yearns for his magick and opens her arms
a willing victim, ceding to his charms

One hand behind her back, one behind her head
he lowers her slowly onto her bed
the coldness of his breath and the steel of his gaze
sets her senses afire and her soul ablaze

A kiss, a nibble, a crimson bite
in the clutches of his arms, a willful invite
her breasts, her hips, her scent
her moans, her rapture, her sultry consent

Unencumbered by the flesh, two bodies entwine
lecherous writhing, a mystical vine
two rousing phantasmas in orgasmic splendor
impaled by carnality and their lascivious pleasure

Engorged by the twilight, these lovers unite
with mystic allure and third eye sight
the countdown begins, descending to one
total darkness devolved, replaced by the sun

I love Vampire by A. Boodoo

He flew to her as she sat in her bedroom
Touched down on her face with a powerful kiss
She fell to her bed as he landed upon her
It happened so quickly she couldn't resist

Embraced to submission, she lay uncomplaining
As he brushed her hair out exposing her neck
Anaesthetised softly with delicate kisses
She lay ready for him to make his descent

Her neck throbbing softly in time to her heartbeat
So soft and unblemished, a peach tinted white
He cradled her head and leant over her body
And kissed with lips open - jaws closing to bite

The heat hits his mouth as the blood trickles slowly
The taste is addictive, so rich and so warm
Unconscious, she's feeling a rush in her body
Excited, she calls out to him "Oh yes! More!"

He reads her elation and stops from his feeding
And, kissing her, turns round to look at her face
Light-headed, unthinking, she rises to kiss him
And falls to the spell of vampiral embrace

They kiss in the moonlight, her neck bleeding slowly
He bites her tongue hard as it strays by his teeth
Their mouths fill with blood as he drinks from her kisses
His hands getting busy with something beneath

He rips off her nightdress, the satin tears cleanly
Exposing her vulnerable body to him
She swallows her blood and delights in its softness
As he takes her skull in the palms of his hands

Her head on his shoulder, her body beneath him
She sighs with delight at the feelings inside
Sustained by her blood and her tenderest kisses
The vampire takes on a lover tonight

This is my fav. I wrote it. You can find this one and others in my journal. Lots of fun things to read!

"You and I"

The single thought floods my mind,
Us alone, you and I combine
Our hearts, our words, our lips, our souls,
And find a peace never been told.

I lay upon the velvet throw
And reveal the flesh you so well know,
I yearn for you to pierce my skin
And draw the blood from within.

Take me out of mind and this,
To a world you send me with a gentle kiss.
The pressure increases as you take in my life,
And I drift away for a moment with a fight.

I grow pale and you grow strong,
I let you take the pathway long;
But then you resist
And I persist;
You slowly back away
And I beg you to stay.

The blood trickles down my skin,
I scream for you to finish but also begin;
I urge you to enter into me,
My head thrown back, you have set me free.

You hear me scream as I take in a breath,
You and I are all that's forever left.

I draw my nails into your back,
Now there is nothing that we lack;
I feel your bliss deeply inside of me,
You tremble and shake in my arms repeatedly.
I hold on tight as you take me through the night
On this journey of love that makes everything right.

The darkness taunts as I inhale the scent
Of my loved one's body so well left.
I gaze upon his splendid form,
And lust for his drink forevermore.

I wander down the sleeping man's trail,
I must be careful, for he is very frail;
And upon his lips I place a kiss
And continue to search for my place of bliss.

The pulse inside of my lover's throat,
Calls to me as I slowly float
Over and around my perfect man,
Asleep and innocent, you must understand.

I gently kiss the vein of life
And sink my teeth into him without strife.
I must feed to stay alive
And he must keep still as I take in my pride.

Very little I take from my friend,
As he awakes, upon my cheek he places a hand.
The other trails right down my spine
And he holds me tight as I lick at the vine,
Of the ever flowing stream of scarlet
Beside the bed with the silver goblet.

He breathes in deeply as I finish my feast,
Sipping at every last drop to say the least.

Nothing wasted, only gained,
No more suffering, no more pain.

The single thought floods my mind,
Us alone, you and I combine.

Well consider I never seach for english vampire poem and that I write poems but in french this one was hard. But I iwll say the first one, is really deep, I love old things, so 1897 pretty good year, like a good wine with time it gets better. So The Vampire of 1897 a good year. I mean a good wave of words caressing the mind and heart for emotions and spirit.

A Vampire's Kiss

Let me stroke your hair
Let me touch your skin
Give me just a taste
Tilt your chin

Lips upon your throat
Fangs within your veins
Sipping at your blood
Feel the pain

Cold may be my touch
Do not stop to think
You will be on fire
As I drink

Also:

Bite your thumb and let it bleed
Give me your soul and let me feed.
Scratch your wrist and let it seep
Give me your body to put to sleep.
Gash your neck and slowly die
I grab your sprit so you can’t fly.
I slit my wrist and let you feed
A waltz of death, I shall lead.
Your soul in mine I will keep
Into darkness your mind will leap.
Your lifeless heart will only cry
As I unleash your unholy lie.

I happened upon this poem today while searching through google....

Call of the Kindred

Come to me, little mortal
I can bring you to heaven's portal
There'll be no sorrow, there'll be no pain
Feelings of joy will fill your brain

Come to me, sweet human thing
Give me your heart and I'll make it sing
Forget your fears, leave them behind
Forget the troubles of your kind

Come to me... yes, that's right
Now hold still, it's no good to fight
I'll take your blood, and leave you dying
Didn't you realise I could be lying?

Through the forest,
Of sliding shadows weeping,
I feel your breath on my neck,
Your vampire blood shrieking.

As I turn to gaze upon your eyes,
Cold shiver whispers through my spine,
Sinking deeper and deeper
Into my warm, but deserted heart.

Your eyes are cold, but yet so charming...
"Would you let me in your cruel world,
To feel the darkness you feel now,
To embrace the curse you have been cursed?"

Your smile fades away,
As you close your haunting eyes,
Your innocence I cannot kill
But it shall be only mine.

Watchers

I am a watcher
that is what I do
I go to crowded clubs
perhaps places I don't belong
pull up a chair
or a table in some dark corner
and watch
Sometimes people notice me
point fingers in my direction
or make loud comments
I was meant to hear
I do nothing
I just notice it
and file it away like everything else
I know people fear me
They have to
But they fear me
not because I do bad things
or even good things
but because I do nothing
nothing but watch
I know these people
I know who their friends are
what they like
what they hate
who they're sleeping with
That's what scares them
it frightens them to know that someone
somewhere
knows them unbiased
knows their weaknesses
knows their vices
perhaps even better
than they understand themselves
They fear I've passed some judgment on them
that by watching them
somehow I've ranked them
They just don't understand me
I pass no judgment
For I am a watcher
I am a witness
I am no judge
It's not my place to uphold or condemn
But I do meet these judges
They come up to me
and ask me things
Perhaps curious about me
or maybe just trying to tap into my wisdom
for their own selfish benefit
But I do not speak truthfully to them
My wisdom is my own
and I never part with it
I just talk in riddles
and watch as they try to make sense of them
For that is what I do
I am a watcher
I watch Gods, judges and men all the same
In a darkened corner
of some crowded club
never interfering
never changing
always learning
and forever watching
for that is all I do
and ever will do
For I am a watcher
and will be until I die
and perhaps even past then.

(c) Raven - http://www.ravensrants.com

I love this poem even though it doesn't directly talk about vampires, I get that vibe.

By: Abella Delinity, Seven Deadly Sins.

"The lips of a rose plucked and pruned.

With fair red hair and vibrant eyes.

Lost in the wake of her untamed mind.

She reeks of envy; yearns for life.

But only his lifeless fingers bring warmth to her eyes.

The rotting smell of immortality bites at her lungs and withers the coils of her mortal embrace.

Falling deep into his arms, she cries out for love.

Dying there in his arms, she whimpers for more.

Lost now in the foul existence of immortality.

Her eyes show darkness, her hands show death.

Only the warm taste of mortal’s sins allow her heart beat deep inside.

Under the skin of immortal flesh, a true mortal soul beats dry.

Seven deadly sins of the mortal mind.

She takes upon herself to devour each, and every time To make up for her mortal soul, she lost so long ago.

To make up for the sins her beast had betrothed to her.

And now she cries where only winds will hear her.

Now she weeps where only the night can see her.

She has no more love to show
No more sins to uphold.
Alone in the world of mass destruction
She cries out to the world
Crying for all her immortal sins.
The last vampire on earth. "

lol I see a lot of self-promotion here. I'll not toot my own horn (although like almost everyone on VR, I also write poetry). I'll just say that I also rank Metamorphoses of the Vampire right up there with my top picks of vampire-related poetry. It's very....intense, to say the least.

i dont have a favorite poet of vampire sorts but heres one i wrote on the topic

Haunting

Through dark corners comes her smile
From the ceiling blood drips to the tile
Listen closely, don't be scared
Pay attention, be prepared
Feel her breathing, touch her lips
Across your back, her fingertips
Take deep breaths don't turn away
Her voice shall haunt you from this day
Dreadful warnings tell you to leave
Drop to your knees young one, and grieve
Her hands held tight around your waist
This sharp pain as she slowly slits
More blood falling dripping quick
Face turned pale and you feel sick
Close your eyes and hold them shut
Her blade goes deep into your gut
Eyelids burn and open wide
From the sunlight you can't hide

I'll tell you a tale of Vampirates,
A tale as old as true.
Yea, I'll sing you a song of an ancient ship,
And its mighty fearsome crew.
Yea, I'll sing you a song of an ancient ship,
That sails the ocean blue...
That haunts the oceans blue.

The Vampirate ship has tattered sails,
That flap like wings in flight.
They say that the captain, he wears a veil
So as to curtail your fright
At his death-pale skin
And his lifeless eyes
And his teeth as sharp as night.
Oh they say that the captain, he wears a veil
And his eyes never see the light.

You'd better be good, child--good as gold,
As good as good can be.
Else I'll turn you in to the Vampirates
And wave you out to sea.
Yes you'd better be good, child--good as gold,
Because--look! Can you see?
There's a dark ship in the harbor tonight
And there's room in the hold for thee!
(Plenty of room for thee!)

Well, if pirates are bad,
And vampires worse,
Then I pray that as long as I be
That though I sing of Vampirates
I never one shall see.
Yea, if pirates are danger
And vampires are death
I'll extend my prayer for thee--
That thine eyes never see a Vampirate...

...and they never lay a hand on thee.

A poem by Justin Somper

(There is a book by the same title as well.)
Decent read for...teens or preteens I guess.)

From What I have read of vampire poems (which isn't much) this is my favorite so far, It is by a member of VR named "Atrumdea"

Craving

I feel you near
I hear your breath
your heart pumping
adrenaline rushing

You fear me
but don't know who I am
you want me
but you cannot understand

The life I live
is not for you
taking control
I can feel you

I want to taste you
feel your blood run through my viens
but I cannot do this
It's not your time

The craving grows stronger
I have to control it
I want you so badly
I have to resist

To look into your eyes
and feel your touch
while I drain the life from you
I want it so much

Run from me
get away before I bleed you
I cannot control this
I have to taste you

Craving you madly
I want you near
to taste your blood
and feel the fear

From Blood Tu Bones

The Tiger

Tiger! Tiger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, and what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tiger! Tiger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Fallen

Somewhere beyond waking,
Just out of touch,
I see you smiling,
Just as always.

You always reminded me,
Of warm summer nights,
Standing on the shore,
Waiting for the stars to fall.

Silver moonlight in your hair,
Eyes that shimmer like jewels,
How often I've wondered,
How your blood might taste.

I will hold you now,
Even as I push you away,
For you are an angel,
And I have Fallen.

I cannot reveal my secrets,
Though you beg for explaination,
My Darling, you could not love me,
If you knew the dark curse I hide.

Daylight approuches and you cry,
For now it is that I take my leave,
Not before a kiss; sweet as crimson rain,
Heaven forbid it-- I have Fallen.

Fury

If these are the crimson skies,
Then I burn in a sapphire hell.
The midnight calling has sounded,
But I cannot answer to it.

Wrists bound; mind in turmoil,
Screaming for release; I writhe.
I shall escape from these confines,
And when I do--run.

Skin so pale with eyes so dark,
Hunger that rips across the centuries.
Anger is petty--Oh! but this is fury,
And I will not take such offenses lightly!

I will not be trapped!
I will not be imprisoned!
I will not bow down to you,
Sire or no, I refuse!

So then, the battle rages on,
My cold hands at your throat.
My cruel fangs ripping at your cool flesh,
The chilling night air whipping by.

As soon as it has begun it is over--done.
You stare at me coldly,
As I walk away,
Your bloody heart pulsing in my palm.

Pulsate

Flowing crimson,
Life giving serum,
Beating, throbbing,
Music threatening to overcome.

Roads as strong as stone,
Twisting and turning under the skin,
Evil shadows creeping about,
Seeking the blood within.

Strong and pulsing,
Heart as pure as gold,
Radiating,
A dance ancient and cold.

Silently he slips in,
Deep within your soul,
Intently listening,
Testing his control.

Thump, thump. Thump, thump.
The lyics call,
Breaking the smooth barrier,
The beat begins to fall.

Stroking lovingly,
The victims beautiful shell,
At last the music exists no more,
Alas....the tolling of another bell...
