What do you people know of Ley lines around the world and their energies?

I live on a ley line and find it helps me to channel my spiritual energies more effectively.

i reasearched it we have a lot of spiritual energies here and my nan had the same where she lived (although she chose her house where i had no choice) so i looked in the geo records to see if i was on a ley line and it seems i am on a crossroad of ley lines, which is good for me as there is alot of positive energy flowing through my home.

Ley lines are the natural energy lines of the earth in which the energy of the world travels to cycle life throughout the planet.

Ley lines tend to be places of power, as the energy flows naturally right under your feet. A crossroads of ley lines is particularly powerful in crossroad correspondance magic.

Basically, they can be likened to the energy bloodlines of the planet itself and many of our largest spiritual sites, such as Stonehenge, rest upon ley lines or a crossroads of them.

Something that works well with magic being performed on a ley line? Crystal and gemstone grids. I tend to work naturally with crystals to draw in energy from the surrounding area.

I haven't seen a map of ley lines, but I am fairly certain they are not like the traditional lines of latitude and longitude that geographers associate with the planet.

The lay lines are a strong positive force, the crossroads are also a access point to other dimensions I believe. I find using king Solomon’s keys on a layline cross over the most active summoning and chaos work iv done.
In Cornwall & Devon in England the stories passed down are of the pixies and fairies ect using the lay lines cross over and gathering points like Stonehenge to gain access to other dimensions.
I think there is a little more to this story, and the devil ones of selling your soul at a cross road …. Ones on a lay line.

Leylines & other energylines

Leylines and other energylines are paths of energy that run through the landscape. They transport energy around the planet. All these energylines lie on the surface of the earth, and not in the ground. Leylines are a specific kind of energylines. Besides leylines many other energylines do exist, like for example hartmannlines, currylines, and benkerlines. Every type of energylines forms an own network around the planet.
The several types of energylines can be divided in two main types. On the one hand you have rasternetworks (grids). This type has energylines that form together a many squares. This normally means that the energylines are parallel to each other with equal space between them, and at right angles also parallel energylines with equal space between. Because of various influences, anomalies can be found in this rasterpattern. On the other hand you have so-called free networks. These are networks with energylines that aren't in a raster, but of which the energylines can flow in every direction.
Besides energylines, which are usually dead straight through the landscape, also other energies exist which can be lumped together under energyforms.

I had never heard of the other dimensions theory. Thanks for posting it here. It makes sense.

I would think that any magic cast on a ley line or a crossroads of them would be highly amplified. You have used Solomon's Keys on a ley line before?

Sounds intriguing, I would love to hear more about it. I tend to leave the keys alone because of their extensive lvl of ritual that is required to summon any of the 72 demons. If I remember correctly, the spells are pretty inclusive and involve a lot of high magic items, not to mention a perfect replica of the individual seals. I find drawing freeform perfect circles and lines in a format large enough for this type of ritual difficult at best.

Hi Jenova
Yes the original thoughts I had on Solomon’s keys were the same, im now understanding it is not one magic path but any and it’s not one ritual but parts of it is the key… might as well call it lavisbres key lol
Im going to post tonight on something I find interesting linked with this form of magic im using ….
As for lay lines yes crystal magic seems feasible …. Used at point of lay line if it has properties focused by crystals then yes just like light or split like a prism… not sure

I don't know a lot about ley lines and I thank you lillith for the wonderful information, but I do pose a question I was told that there are negative ley lines as well and that these areas draw many negative energies and events. Even mild ones can be problematic.

I lived in an area where I noticed that three houses that were in line of each other had a lot of problems from damage and electrical to even relationships with the people within the houses, and they were never occupied for very long either. So could these houses have been on a negative ley line?

I love the idea of Ley Lines. I visited England and always knew when I was on one. Most of the Ley Lines intersect a lot at Glastenbury which would explain why it is the centre for the paranormal and things of that nature.

Stonehenge is on one too. Most stone circles are along with any major ancient sites. The ancients used them as roads.

Pretty cool subject, I have heard a lot of folks discussing the pro's and con's of ley lines actually being a place for super energy and the like.I have read some great things by this author and he is listed below.I hope this helps.

Ley lines are alleged alignments of ancient sites or holy places, such as stone circles, standing stones, cairns, and churches. Interest in ley lines began with the publication in 1922 of Early British Trackways by Alfred Watkins (1855-1935), a self-taught amateur archaeologist and antiquarian.
Based upon the fact that on a map of Blackwardine, near Leominster, England, he could link a number of ancient landmarks by a series of straight lines, he became convinced that he had discovered an ancient trade route.
Interest in these alleged trade routes as sources of mystical energy has become very popular among New Agers in Great Britain.

Today, ley lines have been adopted by New Age occultists everywhere as sources of power or energy, attracting not only curious New Agers but aliens in their UFOs and locals with their dowsing rods. These New Age occultists believe that there are certain sites on the earth which are filled with special "energy." Stonehenge, Mt. Everest, Ayers Rock in Australia, Nazca in Peru, the Great Pyramid at Giza, Sedona (Arizona), Mutiny Bay, among other places, are believed to be places of special energy. There is no evidence for this belief save the usual subjective certainty based on uncontrolled observations by untutored devotees. Nevertheless, advocates claim that the alleged energy is connected to changes in magnetic fields. None of this has been scientifically verified. Maps have been produced, however, with lines on them which allegedly mark off special energy spots on earth. For example, the Seattle Arts Commission gave $5,000 to a group of New Age dowsers, the Geo Group, to do a ley line map of Seattle. Photographs of the result, which looks like a defaced satellite photo of the Seattle area, can be purchased for $7.00 from the group. It proudly proclaims that the "project made Seattle the first city on Earth to balance and tune its ley-line system." The Arts Commission has been criticized by skeptical citizens for funding a New Age, pagan sect, but the artwork continues to be displayed on a rotating basis in city-owned buildings within Seattle.

I live about 35km from a node, but I don't know about the minor lines. They are not as well documented as the major lines outside of England. I think the node is called the head Chakra point. It is part of the Native wheel as well. I should douse arround to see if my house is on a minor line... as it is so close to two major lines.

Especially since I am practically an amature. Node #8 is surrounded by medicine wheels. It would make an interesting vacation to visit all 70 medicine wheels and the main node.

We have a major intersection of ley lines very near us in the local market place. It was once the site of an ancient pagan temple whis faced northwards. This intersection actually has 7 major ley lines crossing at a central point (maybe proof that the pagans also believed, as i do, that a seven pointed star was more powerful than the protective pentagram).

I think the pagans use the pentegram and not the seven pointed "faery" star as their symbol of choice menerfecious However the wiccans who use "faery magicks" do use the "faery" star but this is way off topic sorry babez. xx

And here is the entry from Earth's MystLey Lines
Ley lines, or Leys, are alignments of ancient sites stretching across the landscape. Ancient sites or holy places may be situated in a straight line ranging from one or two to several miles in length. A ley may be identified simply by an aligned placing of marker sites, or it might be visible on the ground for all or part of its length by the remnants of an old straight track.

Ley Lines were 're-discovered' on 30 June 1921 by Alfred Watkins (1855-1935), a locally well-known and respected Herefordshire businessman, who while looking at a map for features of interest noticed a straight line that passed over hill tops through various points of interest, all of which were ancient. At the time of his discovery, Watkins had no theory about alignments but on that June afternoon saw "in a flash" a whole pattern of lines stretching across the landscape. Four years later, in 1925, he described his vision in a book he titled The Old Straight Track:

"Imagine a fairy chain stretched from mountain peak to mountain peak, as far as the eye could reach, and paid out until it reached the 'high places' of the earth at a number of ridges, banks, and knowls. Then visualise a mound, circular earthwork, or clump of trees, planted on these high points, and in low points in the valley other mounds ringed around with water to be seen from a distance. Then great standing stones brought to mark the way at intervals, and on a bank leading up to a mountain ridge or down to a ford the track cut deep so as to form a guiding notch on the skyline as you come up.... Here and there, at two ends of the way, a beacon fire used to lay out the track. With ponds dug on the line, or streams banked up into 'flashes' to form reflecting points on the beacon track so that it might be checked when at least once a year the beacon was fired on the traditional day. All these works exactly on the sighting line."
Watkins surmised that these straight tracks, or ley lines as he called them at first, were the remnants of prehistoric trading routes. He went on to associate ley lines with the Greek god Hermes (the Roman Mercury, the Norse Woden) who was the god of communication and of boundaries, the winged messenger, and the guide to travellers on unknown paths. Watkins identified Hermes-Mercury with the chief god of the Druids and argued that:

"A Celtic god, Tout, or in its Romanised form Toutates, is supposed to be what Caesar referred to, and this name has been found on a Romano-British altar. It is a fact that sighting mounds called Tot, Toot, Tout, Tute and Twt abound all over the Kingdom, and the root is probably Celtic... The fact that such mounds are mark-points on trackways strengthen the link..."

The identification of leys as ancient traders' routes was as far as Watkins was prepared to go, despite the fact that numerous ley lines travelled up prohibitively steep hillsides. Speculation as to their meaning and purpose continued after Watkins' death in 1935.

According to Paul Devereux, it was the occultist Dion Fortune in her 1936 novel The Goat-Foot God (republished in 1971 by S. Weiser, New York, and in 1989 by Aquarian Press, Northamptonshire) who invented the idea that ley lines were "lines of power" linking prehistoric sites. A few years later, it was suggested that ley lines followed lines cosmic energy in the Earth and could be detected using dowsing rods. In the 1960s, ley lines, or "leys" as they were now called, became linked with UFO sightings.

In 1969, ley lines were taken up by John Michell, in his seminal book The View Over Atlantis, who discussed them within the context of geomancy. By 1974, ley lines and geomancy, plus other esoteric subjects having to do with the Earth, were collected under the umbrella term of "Earth Mysteries."

Noticed that the word is ancient on this. They are not there anymore. A different system is now in place. We now have a grid above the planet with anchoring, vortexs, in many areas of the globe. Go to these ancient places and see what you feel. Something may be there but you will not that big OMG feeling anymore. Now go to these many vortexs that are becoming known and you well feel the difference. They are not ley lines but a new improve version, so to speak.

http://www.pauldevereux.co.uk/new/html/body_leylines.html is a good site for leyline info here is a few paragraphs from it.

The subject of leys (or 'ley lines' or 'ley hunting') as we have come to know it is essentially a British one. Both the good and bad aspects can be blamed on the British! For 20 years I edited the only journal in the world devoted solely to leys, THE LEY HUNTER, and I think I have come to know the subject more intimately and in more detail than anyone else alive. The first thing I can assure you is that what is talked about in New Age journals, workshops and groups today about 'leylines' is mainly a combination of misunderstanding, old falsehoods, wishful thinking and downright fantasy. What I am going to tell you now is the true history of ley research. Like most histories, it is essentially a list of dates and names, but unless we understand the growth of the ley idea, we will never understand what leys are, and what it is we are dealing with.

The origin of the ley theory

In 1921, Englishman Alfred Watkins had a sudden perception (he called it a 'flood of ancestral memory'), while looking at a map of the Herefordshire countryside. He saw that various prehistoric places, such as standing stones, earthen burial mounds, prehistoric earthworked hills, and other such features fell into straight lines for miles across country. Watkins spent many years studying such alignments on the ground and on maps. He was a pioneer photographer and he took photographs of his alignments, wrote books and gave lectures. In response to his work, especially to his most important book, The Old Straight Track (1925), the Straight Track Club was formed, in which people all over Britain conducted field research looking for alignments of sites, and perhaps remnants of old straight tracks lying along them.

For about 7 years in the 1920s, Watkins referred to his alignments as 'leys'. This is an Anglo-Saxon word meaning 'cleared strips of ground' or 'meadows'. Watkins' theory of leys was that they were old straight traders' tracks laid down by surveyors in the Neolithic period of prehistory. They used surveying rods, he claimed, and it was this line-of-sight method that led to the straightness of the old tracks. The tracks ran from hilltop to hilltop, mountain ridge to mountain ridge, like 'a fairy chain' Watkins suggested. They cut through wild country, and in the valleys there was dense forest. Over time, this was cleared along the course of the straight tracks, Watkins maintained, and this was the reason he used the word 'ley' to describe such tracks. However, by 1929, he had discarded the use of the name 'ley' and referred to his alignments only as 'old straight tracks' or 'archaic tracks'.

Watkins felt that many of the key sighting points along these old straight tracks evolved into sacred sites, such as standing stones and burial mounds. Watkins felt that eventually the old straight tracks fell out of use, and so we only have the aligned sites today to indicate their courses or routes. He also theorised that in the historic, Christian era, some of the prehistoric, pagan sites became Christianised, and this explained why he found so many ancient churches standing on his alignments. It is certainly a fact that many such sites did become Christianised throughout Europe.

In 1935, Watkins died. In 1936, the British occultist Dion Fortune wrote a fictional book, a novel, called The Goat-Foot God, in which she put forward the notion of 'lines of force' connecting megalithic sites such as Avebury and Stonehenge in southern England. In 1938, Arthur Lawton, a member of the Straight Track Club, wrote a paper in which he claimed that leys were lines of cosmic force which could be dowsed. He was a dowser himself, and was impressed with the German geopathological dowsing that was then getting under way, and French dowsing work which claimed that there were lines of force beneath standing stones. Lawton put all this together in his own head and came up with his theory about leys.

In 1948, the Straight Track Club was closed down as there were only a few surviving members, and no new work was being done. The idea of Watkins' leys was kept alive by a few fringe writers and researchers in Britain during the 1950s. Probably in no other country in the world at this time was anyone preserving the idea of leys.

this is only the first of may pieces on leylines at this website

Leys for the 1960s
From 1960 the ley theory took on a new lease of life, one that has led to the modern New Age notion of 'ley lines'. An ex-R.A.F. pilot, Tony Wedd, was very interested in flying saucers, or UFOs. He had read Watkins' The Old Straight Track and also a French book, Flying Saucers and the Straight Line Mystery (1958) by Aim=82 Michel, in which it was (falsely) suggested that the locations where flying saucers landed or hovered very low during the 1954 French flying saucer outbreak or 'wave' fell into straight lines or 'orthotenies'. Wedd made the excited conclusion that Watkins' 'leys' and Michel's 'orthotenies' were one and the same phenomenon. He had also read an American book by Buck Nelson called My Trip to Mars, the Moon and Venus (1956) in which Rogers claimed to have flown in UFOs, and to have witnessed them picking up energy from 'magnetic currents' flowing through the Earth. In 1961, Wedd published a pamphlet called Skyways and Landmarks in which he theorised that UFO occupants flew along magnetic lines of force which linked ancient sites, and that the ancient sites acted as landmarks for UFO pilots. It all relied very much on the notions and experiences of an old-fashioned terrestrial airplane pilot, rather than intergalactic extra-terrestrial creatures!

Wedd formed the Star Fellowship, which aimed to contact the Space Brothers. The members of the club enlisted the aid of a psychic called Mary Long in their ley hunting, and she started referring to 'lines of force' and magnetic nodes in the landscape. She also channelled communications from a Space Being called 'Attalita'. In 1962 a Ley Hunter's Club was set up with Wedd's encouragement, and by 1965 it produced the first few copies of THE LEY HUNTER journal.

It was at a conference held by members of Wedd's group in London in 1966 that I first became introduced to the idea of leys, and it is possible that John Michell also attended that same meeting. Other pioneers of this new wave of ley hunting also became involved in the subject in the 1960s. In 1967 John Michell wrote his first book, The Flying Saucer Vision, in which he talked about UFOs, ancient sites, Alfred Watkins and leys. In 1969 he produced his seminal work, The View Over Atlantis, in which he brought his erudition and insight to bear on the ley theory, and mixed it with ancient, sacred geometrical and number systems, and much else besides, particularly the Chinese systemof landscape divination called Feng shui. He also speculated about dowsing. This book had a profound influence on the new generation of ley hunters. In it, as well as in magazine articles, he put forward his idea of a 'St Michael Line' running for 400 miles across southern England. In that same year of 1969, THE LEY HUNTER journal came under the editorship of Paul Screeton, and remained in continuous publication until 1999.
