I first heard about sacred geometry a few year ago and found the topic to be quite interesting. I'm just curious what everyones thoughts on the subject are.
I have taken the following directly from http://www.sacred-geometry.com/sacredgeometry.html
"Sacred Geometry is the blueprint of Creation and the genesis of all form. It is an ancient science that explores and explains the energy patterns that create and unify all things and reveals the precise way that the energy of Creation organizes itself. On every scale, every natural pattern of growth or movement conforms inevitably to one or more geometric shapes.
As you enter the world of Sacred Geometry you begin to see as never before the wonderfully patterned beauty of Creation. The molecules of our DNA, the cornea of our eye, snow flakes, pine cones, flower petals, diamond crystals, the branching of trees, a nautilus shell, the star we spin around, the galaxy we spiral within, the air we breathe, and all life forms as we know them emerge out of timeless geometric codes. Viewing and contemplating these codes allow us to gaze directly at the lines on the face of deep wisdom and offers up a glimpse into the inner workings of the Universal Mind and the Universe itself.
The ancients believed that the experience of Sacred Geometry was essential to the education of the soul. They knew that these patterns and codes were symbolic of our own inner realm and the subtle structure of awareness. To them the “sacred” had particular significance involving consciousness and the profound mystery of awareness ….. the ultimate sacred wonder. Sacred Geometry takes on another whole level of significance when grounded in the experience of self-awareness."
While I've never heard of this subject before and it was an interesting read, doesn't Quantum Physics and Bio-Chemistry coincide with this subject?
While I know nothing about Biochemistry, I did find this one little quote just now.
"it is well known in biochemistry that hexagons represent the sacred geometry of biology; the "carbon 6 building-block" of all life!"

He deals the cards to find the answer
The sacred geometry of chance
The hidden law of a probable outcome
the nature of majick. threads there are links there and stuff.
A must as the Sacred Geometry is a factor in all masonic content. Study Masonry with an open mind and see how much you will learn. Sacred Geometry is a universal stand point that all individuals adhere to when traveling anywhere in the ethereal, no matter what creed they come from.
I am always trying to learn new things. Some of them have a priority and Sacred Geometry is one of them. Same as theology, Philantropy, and helping others and myself.
Beauty comes from somewhere. I know that ¨beauty is in the eye of the beholder¨ and some people have proven it to me. But since we are all humans then we have things in common.
Finding harmony throughout the universe is the most rewarding experience i can have.
Not only does it encompass masonry and every creed, but that site that is referenced has done a fantastic job referencing the various sciences.
Very good thread, as Oceanne said the nature of magick threads do run parallel to this topic as well.
The sacred geometry as I view it is related with these four domains:
-early Renaissance painting
http://yale.edu/ynhti/curriculum/units/1986/3/86.03.08.x.html
-the fatalism of the philosopher Vasile Conta(he revealed that a number of things are inevitable and had to happen)
- the numerology (kabalistic knowledge had developed in this direction and the pytagorean secret doctrine influenced great renaissance thinkers like Pico della Mirandola )
-the gothic architecture(Abbey of Cluny is a good example) build after the secrets of the sacred geometry was brought from the orient during the Crusades
I hope that these will be good research directions.Oh... and don`t forget the medieval alchemy.
With apologies for my poor english,
your friend

I too have noticed something like this in the world. How things often assume shapes with regular uniformity all on their own. The laws of this are new to me, but I've thought about them for the past 10 years on my own. I would love to learn more about this. :)
Okay, is everyone reading James Rollins at the same time? There's this thread, there was the thread about Marco Polo, and I swear there were a few other related threads...anyway.
I had actually never heard of Sacred Geometry until yesterday, while reading James Rollins' Map of Bones. Mister Rollins does this to me a lot; I read about something in his books, and then I have the urge to research the shit out of it. As I've only heard of it just yesterday, yeah, I'm not to the research part yet.
But, here's a question; doesn't this sound a lot like what the male lead charactor in The DaVinci Code was describing in the beginning of the book, with how DaVinci did his artwork? I swear he described something like Sacred Geometry without actually saying the words.
I first discovered this topic when I was reading about a certain musician and he mentioned that he enjoyed the subject. He claimed that he even has his drum set positioned in a way so that it uses the golden ratio in its set up.
I highly recommend looking into subjects such as the golden ratio or golden mean, as well as the golden spiral, if you are interested in the way that things seem to form certain patterns in the universe. A good reference seems to be http://goldennumber.net/.
Happy hunting and I hope to hear anything that people wish to share.
The one thing I find funny with the world is this..most of nature that has been created has at least some form of geometry. I'll give the 5 pointed start for example. A dogwood tree flower has 5 points, when you cut open an apple in half you find 5 seeds in a start for mation...need I go on? Something out there created nature with geometry in mind. :)
What you are referring to is the Fibonacci series and it is everywhere. It is common is the way a tree branches, the proportions on the bones in your body and hand, your DNA, and many other things.
Chaos is no longer a theory it is a fact, and in chaos you have fractal geometry. But lets take that which all principles were based...the Circle, the square and the Triangle...the rectangle doesn't count at this point because it is a dimensional square unfolded.
The Circle represents liquid or the flowing motion of life, space and time.
The Square represents solids, the foundation or the firmament of that which we utilise to build shape form and fashion
The Triangle represents gas, the etheric states around us.
Triangle: Stars, Mission, Future, Mind, Nervous System
Circle: Moon, Life, Present, Emotion, Circulation System
Square: Sun, Destiny, Past, Will, Digestive System
Rectangle: Dimensional Interface
it sounds a lot like quantum theory...the science of the unseen.
But quantum mechanics is based on the string theory not geometry
Sounds fascinating.. I'm always interested in Masonic rituals and beliefs.
Masons use the sacred geometry in all things, I will not into detail, if you wish to learn more, message me...
As for sacred geometry itself, it is the highest form of geometry, taking it to a more ethereal plain of existance. I will not bore you here.
Yes, the grid and free scroll energy..very important stuff.
The golden mean...all of it
Kwil said: But lets take that which all principles were based...the Circle, the square and the Triangle...the rectangle doesn't count at this point because it is a dimensional square unfolded.

your initial understanding is only partially correct. there are more elemental principles than those... and the circle, square, and triangle are only three of the basic principles around which all sacred geometry, including fractal, are founded. i am running off to work, but i will return later.
sacred geometry also plays a heavy hand in effective sigil usage... one of my favorite fields of study at the moment.
Lets not forget the Platonic Solids.

The ancient Pharaohs used sacred geometry, and it had something to do with the construction of the Pyramids of Giza, because they were great at mathematics.
Lifted from JackofSpades post.
While I know nothing about Biochemistry, I did find this one little quote just now.
"it is well known in biochemistry that hexagons represent the sacred geometry of biology; the "carbon 6 building-block" of all life!"

As a chemist who has taught biochemistry, carbon in a ring of six can form a hexagon found in benzene and molecules including benzene systems, but these are relatively rare in biological systems. Chains in which each carbon has four groups arranged in a tetrahedron are extremely common in biological systems as they make up the molecules of the membranes that hold each cell's contents. I would nominate the tetrahedron a more important biological geometry.
Sacred Geometry is built into the Giza complex in Egypt . The Cathedrels in Europe , paintings by Davinci , Poussan (spelling) and the like , It is far more encompassing that most can imagine .
Actually throughout the Sumerian history, the Egyptians also known as the early Sumerian people, used the Sacred Geometry in every day life...Not just with the pyramids.
The Sumerian King Solomon was a Freemason, along with one Hiram Abiff. Masonic ritual has alot to do these two individuals, the relation between the ritual and the Sacred Geometries is...For eyes only, my apologies.
But I can tell you that the earliest egyptians before they became GODS, such as Thoth, Isis, Osiris, as well as Ra, were very much human. They did practice what they preached as I have already stated on a day to day basis. Which is why Freemasonry is always centered around the Sacred Geometries.
I would suggest those interested in learning a bit more about the Sacred Geometries, is to do research on both the Higher Self as well as the Sacred Three Fold Violet Flame.
To me (and this is just my opinion, of course), it sounds like someone has ignored the chemical properties of the elements and gone off on a tangent as soon as they noticed the outcome.
Patterns are everywhere. You can't help but find them if you look. In fact, people will find them anywhere they look even if they don't really exist. Better stated; if you look hard enough for a pattern, you'll find it. The problem is when people find these patterns and rather than recognizing the underlying reasons for them, they proclaim then to have all kinds of purely unevidenced significance.
I have to agree with beast on this one.. Shapes are everywhere.. Beast said it very articulately..
Jack, your right on in mentioning the Fibonacci sequences. No one commented on that ,and I gave it a while...so I will, in saying that if one is truely interested in this subject, they really need to read about the series.Sooo,to avoid writing about it again,Im going to include a couple of links to information on the series. And thanks for the thread.;)

the scientific term i believe is fractal geometry:

has some great pictures to explain it
When I was a kid, I remember hearing about the power of a triangle, but I can't remember the specifics. Not to be confused with the power triangle, this was an actual triangle in 3d hallow frame and people would sit inside it and meditate. Anyone else hear about this?
Yes,I have....but then the pyramid is supposed to be a power generator.
I've heard claims about wire-frame pyramids and I've seen televised demonstrations where two plants are treated in the same manner but one is placed under a wire-frame pyramid and the other isn't. The plant under the pyramid appeared to grow marginally faster.
Take any two plants that appear roughly equal as sprouts, transplant them side-by-side and apply equal water, sunlight and fertilizer and one will grow marginally faster or more heartily than the other.
That's why if the effect of the pyramids were claimed to be based on an elusive concept, not yet understood, a properly conducted demonstration would utilize dozens of different plants, half with pyramids and half without and then an overall objective assessment of the health of all of the plants. Of course those applying the assessment to the plants can't know which ones grew under pyramids and which didn't. I've never seen such an experiment but if someone can produce one, it would offer some compelling value.
Part of the problem here is that the effect of the pyramids isn't claimed to be something elusive and misunderstood. The assertion is that the pyramid shape is a power generator. When we're talking about power, we're talking about energy -- a measurable second state of matter. And yet I don't see anyone attempting to measure the "power". Is that just possibly because when they attempt to do so, they don't find any power/energy to measure?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. And yet what we commonly see are extraordinary claims supported by absolutely no objective evidence what-so-ever. To the logical mind, that tells us pretty much everything we should need to know about the veracity of the claims.
Claims are easy.
- "Frogs are smarter than people."
- "Elves only come out between midnight and four in the morning.
- "If you inhale the warm air from the back of your computer, it will make you smarter."
Claims are just claims and without objective evidence, they hold no more credible value than the three examples above.
Evidence? Evidence is a bit more difficult to produce. And that's likely why, when people want to make extraordinary claims, they skip the whole necessity of providing any kind of objective evidence.
i believe ley lines also make some of the sacred patterns if i remember correctly..
also the pentagram right?... ive been thinking of getting the flower of life tattooed some where
