The crescent moon is supposed to symbolize the goddess Diana. In some Luciferian aspects, the crescent along with a star in the middle is a sigil for Lucifer and Diana, this symbol is played very well in occult theology.

As according to some theories, as Lucifer is the Morning Star, this adapts very well with the crescent moon on an early morning just before dawn.

the cresent moon has many old connections to magic, but I'm not sure of them all. It is even tied to most middle eastern religions in some form or another

The crescent moon and star is also an internationally-recognized symbol of the faith of Islam. The crescent moon and star symbol actually pre-dates Islam by several thousand years. The Ottoman Empire began affiliating the crescent moon and star with the Muslim world.

The crecent moon also represents the Islamic faith. The origin of represention the area comes from its ancient ties to Mesopotamia known as the Fertile Crecent. It was a major center of commerce known for its riches and great cultural center. This is just anthropologically/historically speaking..and has nothing to do weith magic .but i did answer the question :)

But many Muslims reject it as a symbol of Islam and traditionally the faith has had no symbol. They consider it an ancient pagan icon.

You are absolutely right. In the Koran they do no like depictions of God this is reflected in their artwork. If you notice in modern day islamic art, the only thing you really see are patterns leaves or plants. Those who reject the crecent moon are more of the conservative side.

I wanted to bring in a couple of other factss partaining to said crescent, but I did not want to start a conspiracy involving them...But here goes anywho...

As the crescent moon is apparent in many countries flags, it is a representation as well of the Shriners, a chapter of the Freemasons.

On the fez is a symbol of Osiris, the mythical god of Egypt, encased in the scimitar and crescent, the two emblems of Mohammed. Osiris is not worshipped, but his likeness represents the hidden parts of Freemasonry, lying in the state for the unveiling of the adepts, the Houir among us.

Like in the times of Socrates, man sometimes gets carried away with the emblems and symbols, rather than the messages they hope to convey.

The fez is scarlet, emblematical of the Scarlet cord, woven into a fabric, "without seam." Between the points of the crescent, stands the Star, the Masonic Star of Fellowship, the religious star of Hope, the Eastern Star of the Message.

Another answer for you.
