Alex Proyas director of 1994s The Crow, and 1998s Dark City is set to direct Dracula: Year Zero.
The script is by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless and will depict Dracula as a flawed hero in a tragic love story set in the dark age of magic and war. Basically the whole "vampire" thing is kinda true kinda not.....the story is supposedly mixing the story of the true Vlad Tepes with the vampire mythology.
Sam Worthington (Avatar) is supposed to be on board to play Vlad Tepes
Seems as though the whole "dracula" thing is out done, but as long as dracula does not "sparkle" I am just fine.
lol, Twilight damaged the mystique of Vampires.
Dracula: Year Zero does not sound that existing.
Twillight counteractive to the whole vampire culture. . .they dont eat, they dont sleep, no coffins, daylight dont burn them. . .its not a vampire. . .that was just a love story geared to teen age girls. . . .this should be more interesting because it will actually be more about the man who was the inspiration for Dracula. . .
im always open to new outlooks on the Vampire image but twilight was a total jip !!! teenage girls swwoned at the fantasy but it totally undermined then image of the Vanpire i grew up loving!!
The movie talked about in this thread sounds like its very worth a viewing to dispel the bad taste left by twilight!!
Sounds good. Always interesting to have the story delve into the real Vlad, even if for a little bit.
Ohh.. It sounds marvellous! Sam Worthington is this era's "iron guy with a soul".. *swoonz* I love the plot.. *smilez*
No offense to anyone dying to see this film, but it sounds just dreadful. From what the original description of this thread is telling me, it makes me feel like this is going to be a movie that Pixar should have made...
I guess I'm with everyone else here, Twilight truely damaged the image of vampires! Kinda hard to imagine vamps being dangerous and scary when they sparkle.
I'm happy they are intertwining the original story of Vlad into the movie. Very few movies do, or do it well.
I will most likely go see this movie! I'm always up for new vamp movies! (Except the Twilight series...)
well im always up for anything scratchy bitey so when it comes out i will give it a fair viewing because it sounds quite cool!!
i find the dracula legend to be fascinating...
if a drac movie is well done, i adore it...
if its poorly done, i loath it.
lol

this about sums it up for me!!
my son 12 yr old looked at a vamp movie i have called daughters of Dracula! he says wow dad that looks scary..
the day after he comes in and says he watched twilight and thought it was great!!
twilight takes the mysticism away from the true vampir culture!! doesnt scare anyone and entertains young kids lol
nuff said!!!
bring on the new Vlad movie !!
I can only say that I really liked maybe 3 or 4 vampire movies, most of them suck terribly..
probably the same case with this 1.
ok since there are so many people here who dislike so many vampire movies, what would be YOUR ideal vampire movie??
Also, to change the subject, whatever happened to the Death Walks the Streets movie... Can't even find a website or an IMDB page on it anymore.. That looked like such a good movie... Vampires, Werewolves, Zombies and Witches and its all based in Chicago! That seemed awesome!
