I've released a new section: Member Pages.
It's something I've been planning for a very long time. Some of you may have noticed the line on the Status System page, Can create Member Pages. It's been up there for a while. I finally got around to adding the section.
If you're at least level 25 (or Premium) you can now create member pages. Member pages are kind of like journal entries, kind of like member articles, and kind of like Society/Mentorship custom pages. But there are some key distinctions.
Simply put, a member page is a page that a member creates.
Member pages are broad in scope. To start out with I've created over 100 categories. I'm sure more will be added as necessary. You can create a page on just about anything.
There's no approval process, like with member articles. A few clicks and you're up and running.
They're very similar to Society/Mentorship custom pages, except you're the only one that can administratively edit your pages.
Member pages have a key distinctive feature: embedded graphics. With each page you can upload up to 3 image files for use on the page. It's just like premium file storage. However, free members can use this feature and premium members don't have to use up their file storage for stuff on member pages they create.
Sentorans will be in charge of moderating the new section. Sentorans can suspend individual pages if they are not in compliance with Vampire Rave Terms of Service.
It is my hope that members will use this new section for a wide variety of applications. You can create pages with content about your hobbies. You can create pages about your friends (or foes, so long as you don't break the ToS). You can create pages with your favorite recipes, spells, movie characters, the choices are endless.
Additionally, if you create member pages, a new little section pops up on your profile. It only appears if you've created at least one page, and that page is live.
The section is just below bite/stalk. It lists all the pages you've created.
For an example, see my profile.
I think thats a great new feature. I have a question about content type
"...Member pages are kind of like journal entries..."
...does that mean they can be short-story type entries? Or do they have to be factual ones?
The VR Community category interests me, so I'll maybe think about doing something in that section.
I think this is a wonderful idea and look forward to using it.
You can pretty much post whatever you want, so long as it doesn't break site ToS. If there isn't a suitable category for what you want to post, let me know and I'll add a new category.
Something else I didn't mention...
Unlike other pages on VR you edit and create, Member Pages are not "live" when you first create them. While not live, they are not viewable by the public.
This feature allows you to work on a page, get it set up how you want, then make it live (and viewable by the public).
You can toggle the live status on and off, whenever you want to work on your page.
Also, after you're done creating your page, you need to remember to make it live.
I don't know if this has been asked but can someone who makes a page see who views it? I've never made a page before so I wouldn't know.
Also, this sounds like it will be a blast! :) Wonderful update Cancer.
When you toggle the status live and off do the comments stay or get erased like how one edits a journal and loses the comments? Also if you change a name does the same thing happen with comments and; do the files erase like how files would erase in a normal PM file storage once someone changes a name?
You cannot see who views the page. There is only a view counter.
Toggling the page live/not live does not affect comments in any way.
I love the new add! Thank you for this opportunity!
My question: I can add the pages I have created for my mentorship or for my coven on this new section?
Another brilliant idea. Love it.
Can we use the same kind of coding as we do in our journals, i.e. the code for italics/bold text, font color, font size etc.?
Just answered my question there by trying it out. This is brilliant. The coding works the same as it does for the journals so its easy to use and can be edited without losing comments. Awesome!
Dragonrouge:
You can post pretty much whatever you want. You'll find there's a Society sub-category under Vampire Rave community.
Thank you!
It`s a great add: some of the pages I have created for my Mentorship have a greater impact now on VR because they can be easily reached.
Is it possible to change the order of my member pages?
Are there any HTML Tags or CSS Tags that are not able to be used?
Thank you, Cancer! Awesome! I have now created 2 member pages and I will create more. This new feature is just one of the many reasons I love this website!
Sulks:
If you mean the order they are returned on the Members Pages page, the default sort is Most recently created/updated. You can change the result set by clicking a different sort setting, such as oldest.
If you mean the order by which pages you have written appear on your profile. Yes, you can. It just requires a bit of tinkering. Pages are displayed on your profile by order of which was updated last. So if you want a particular page at the top of the list, update it.
WhisperingWolf:
The HTML tags you can use are the same HTML tags you can use on other Vampire Rave pages.
It's a great new feature which will only encourage members to get their creative bugs going.
An author of any member page can also delete inappropriate comments if they wish.
However, unlike a journal entry, if you need to update your members page or edit it for any reason, you will NOT lose your comments. That's a great feature too. :)

Out of curiosity, will there be a feature added in the future to be able to "favorite" certain Member Pages? Or is it set up to be more like the Member Articles where it is just an added feature for members to show their work, but they are able to edit such pages by the creator?
Either way, I think this is a fabulous idea. It gives members another creative outlet to utilize and more reasons for members to interact with each other. (Not that there isn't already a lot of chances for members to do so, this just expands on that. :P)
I like the idea of being able to Favorite a page as well. For these pages, I found another great idea. It can be used for planning societies for the future.
