Just had an early birthday greeting text exchange with Cancer. Just makes me think of how long I’ve been here and all the history. It’ll be 20 years for me in a couple weeks.
This time of the year is my absolute favorite- like many, Halloween is my special joy. I sure wish Ann was still on this plane of existence. She’d like my new house. I’m still holding on to all the special fabric she bought me to make throw pillows with. I need a better sewing machine. I will make those eventually. She was a little out of her mind when she bought the stuff. She got the most expensive fabric and silk thread they sold there. It was like she was thinking “can’t take this money with me”… and so I have been worried I’d mess this project up. It’s way too special to get wrong. I’d like to practice with cheap material first. But still - I need to get a solid sewing machine.
October… why do you go by in a flash?
I’m just a little over a year away from finishing my screenwriting degree. I still haven’t gotten too big for my britches, and hope I can keep this level of output going till the end.
I’m close enough that I have been planning the trip for my son and I. We will fly out so I can graduate on campus in Hollywood, CA. Then we will get tattoos in celebration, hang out in L.A. for the rest of the day, and hit Disney the next day. The following day we will fly back home.
That’s the plan, as long as nothing happens with either of us before then.

I’ll be 52 years old in 2 weeks. And nope, it doesn’t feel old at all. That weekend, I’m going to see Guillermo Del Toros’s Frankenstein at the movies with my son, go out to eat, and also hit The Gothic Market New Orleans, which just so luckily happens to be going on then.
October is my favorite month, and it always goes by so fast!

Happy birthday. I'm sewing and quilting this weekend, too. I wish you the best on your pillows... And remember, Ann would love the messups most of all. She is watching and they'll tickle her to pieces, so go big!
