I can't get myself to enjoy doing custom designs for people. It's not that the challenge is intimidating, it's not the fear of failure, it's not any of the technical aspects... It's the people. I hate to say it, but it is the people.
First they want to talk about color options, then as soon as I respond with color options they're wanting to see more designs and have forgotten about the colors so then I talk about the design options only for them to go on some tangent about the reason why they want the item (this is the frightening part where I become their therapist or learn waaay too private things about them) and then they reveal that they just aren't sure what KIND of item they want, even though they're already at the stage of asking me to make something for them.
The quickest way to weed them out is to give them homework. The ones who are serious about getting something made have no problem finding pictures that have elements they want, or can send you a pinterest board full of ideas and have no issue finding good color samples to send.
The rest just stop responding at that point.
Just... Ugh.
I don't get why he wants to run into the brick wall over and over. I'm not going to be the person who says "Yeah I get it, until we stop standing up for people who are different from us to appease the folks who want those people eradicated, we can't expect any progress as a society."
Because that is wholly stupid. A society does not advance on the bodies of marginalized people, we just morph our dysfunctional system into something more destructive and short lived.
I also reject the notion that we have to abandon decency in order to receive decency, as in, you cannot promise me a bouquet of flowers as long as I turn my back on my gay cousin and say that it's a fair trade. It's not, I don't want to be part of your group and I don't care how you feel about this.
I'll put it this way. "Those people" you talk about have been around since the dawn of humanity. They have survived persecution, murder, genocide, tireless propaganda used against them as a distraction, medical neglect, and all attempts to erase them entirely from history. Your little shit-for-brains friends and their red MAGA hats are fuck all nothing in comparison to what the marginalized have survived. They thrive in spite of your endless tantrums, thought terminating cliches, and phobic calls for their annihilation.
So you can sit there on a little straw throne of privilege playing with matches until your ass lights up from under you and act like you hold the whip and get to decide who gets to exist and who doesn't, and it doesn't make a fucking difference, it just makes you one more pathetic speed bump on the road to progress.
Suck it.
I don't understand why some people can't get it through their dense brain-like structure... If you talk shit to me about LGBTQ+ folks, you are talking shit about the most basic aspect of MANY people I know and love. That's not their whole identity, they are complex beings and I am one of them and so if you distill us down to one lable and then dismiss us, I am going to fucking have something to say about it.
Don't like it? Don't want feedback? Then write in a little journal and put it under your mattress and fuck off.
I was under the impression that if I had kids I would need to be a parent to them and that's one of many reasons why I chose to remain child-free. I know enough to understand how difficult it is. However, parents today are really showing me a different and possibly better way of raising children which is to expect the world to do it for them!
Who knew? You can just demand that books, people, music, history, and ideas be banned so you don't have to deal with talking to your kids or learning new things yourself. Hell, you can ruin entire platforms like Youtube by insisting it be child-friendly because it works as a free babysitter for you as you plop a phone or tablet into your child's lap.
How exciting! I guess it's not too late to pass on my genes, prejudice, and general stupidity to a new generation! WOOOH!

Oh absolutely! Between sending them to school and expecting their teacher to raise them for you, for those hours as well, you can get away with never having to talk to them at all!
I home school. lol.
part of my message erased without me noticing it! That should say Between sending them to school and expecting their teacher to raise them for you, for those hours as well, and all the internet capable devices that can be plopped in their laps, you can get away with never having to talk to them at all.
LOL!
And here I was chastising myself for being so cynical! Aww c'mon Morri, give people a chance, you never know because sometimes folks are being sincere. Not everything that comes off as a cliche is contrived so just relax, bite your tongue and sit on your hands.
Ooops.
Oh.
Well.
There's a certain type of person who can only surprise me when they do something out of character like, exhibit honesty or actually give a shit about how they affect other people and I've been alive long enough to know that those qualities are not spontaneously gained like "Hey, I'm a good person now!"
When a person like that suddenly feels ever so free to be themselves I see it as them taking off a mask and nothing more. Whatever is under that mask is more important than their supposed liberation. Some people are ready to be authentic, ready to have tough conversations with themselves and others and feel brave enough to navigate the bumpy road of self-realization and others are just finally giving themselves full permission to be a piece of shit.
Speaking from personal experience, a willingness to exploit others is not a sign of maturity, and a more "liberated" mindset does not mean that others around you are disposable. Having no-strings-attached encounters also does not mean your chosen partners are disposable. I don't know why so many assholes think that living liberated means everything is easier because it's not... I mean, you can act like it is if you want to behave like a sociopath, but it takes patience and respect to do it in a way that doesn't make you a wad of crap at the end of the day.
Anyway. All I can say is, I'm not surprised. I called this back in 2024 when I logged in and saw that someone had left a stinky on my doorstep so to speak. I just think it would have been MORE fun to be wrong in this instance.
When I was a kid I asked my parents why women change their last names when they get married. They gave me the various reasons why a woman would do that and I remember even at the time thinking all of those reasons were kind of lame. Okay, if you want to change your name to be a "couple" why is it by default his name? I declared that I was fine with my husband changing his last name to mine if he wanted, but I liked my last name and didn't think marriage was an occasion to part with something I liked.
I didn't view it as some huge feminist concept, I was a kid, I didn't even know about feminism. It just didn't make enough sense to be worth all the effort it took to do something like that.
WELP. Fast forward to now with the SAVE act being passed by pretty much everyone and is now on its way to the Senate it sure seems like that choice was a smart one. I cannot fucking believe we are living in a country where millions of women are about to be disenfranchised like this.
Quick notes:
The bill would require everyone registering to vote or updating their registration information to present documentary proof of citizenship in person. - That means if you move, you have to re-register in person with all of the same documentation to prove that you are a citizen.
As many as 21.3 million U.S. citizens — more than 9% of voters — do not have such documents readily available, and over 3.8 million people — around 2% of voters — don’t have any form of proof. (Source)
This law does not even other to specify what documents count as proving citizenship, and they require that all the names match in every document. See how this is affecting people who changed their last names? Predominately women? Like... oh I don't know, about 69 million women?
Don't come at me with voter fraud bullshit. I have no patience for idiotic repeating of shit you heard on Fox or tRump or some bullshit you keep watching on Tik Tok. Voter fraud is rare and certainly doesn't justify what this horseshit bill is about to do.
