It's funny how brand names become generic for an item regardless of it's manufacturer..

I remember vaguely years ago when Pepsi did some "If you want a Pepsi, ask for it" campaigns because of how many people use "Coke" in place of any cola.

There's obviously more than I realize...

I've been watching TV with closed captioning on lately.. I don't know why, just seemed like the thing to do... I like to read what I hear :p

Anyway, I noticed Dumpster being capitalized and I wondered...

I had no idea that Dumpster was one of those brand names turned generic. The word fits those large trash bins perfectly, which is probably exactly what Dempster Brothers inc. had in mind.

Clever...

I wonder if brands strive to become the generic name of their industry.....

I'ma start keeping a list to see how many there are.

Deep Fried Pie.

I can feel my arteries clogging just typing the phrase...

Probably tastes good, right?

This reminded me of something I ponder about.

Being a diabetic I wonder what a map of the United States would look like if it had every Diabetic's location as a red dot.

Would there be a concentration in the South?

North?

West?

East?

Smack in the middle?

I wonder because of the average diet of people in different places.

I live in a smallish town in the south and since it's... difficult... for me to find the healthier food I should consume... I wonder..

I moved here AFTER I had Diabetes but BEFORE I was diagnosed.

I thought I was type 2 but some of my paper work said Type 1.. I'm going to have to ask my doctor straight out about that one. It was nearly inevitable either way, and thee lines are blurring, so it doesn't matter THAT much.. still it's better to know than not.

I don't miss California, but everyone is on the health band wagon out there and I can't help but wonder if it would be easier to be diabetic in the west..

probably not..

but I don't think there's much of a market for the the deep fried pie out there.

Krispy Kreme donut shops went out of business, much to my father's dismay.

Hmm.. I'm sure someone somewhere did study about where the largest concentration of Diabetics are..

Perhaps I'll research that...

I also saw something somewhere possibly linking High Fructose Corn Syrup with Diabetes..

THAT is not much of a surprise.. I'm sure the body doesn't process that the same way as pure sugar.

Someone has been telling me they suspected that for years.

mmm

I need to exercise and test my blood glucose

I think they'd be using a great big red pot of paint ... just like the UK, and then just paint the lot.

Why is it what tastes so good kills us the fastest? Lol. My best friend is diabetic, I used to have to taste her soda and stuff to make sure people gave her diet or whatever. I feel for you guys. I used to think people were out to get her, the way they'd mess it up!

I know! The good tasty stuff is so bad for us!

If the universe was fair all the healthy stuff would taste like fried pie ;]

It's difficult being diabetic, but I think it's getting a little easier...

people seem more aware, unfortunately that's because more and more people are developing the disease

when I was first diagnosed I read that it's predicted that over the next 10 years 1 to 2 million more people will get it.

The air is dry and the temperature is comfortable, there's not much humidity to speak of.... heaven. The sun still oppresses me with it's glaring brightness but I want to spend more time outside to savor the dry air before it turns to liquid and I need gills to breathe.

I think it's time to put my plants to go outside.

I didn't mean that Fizbop was rude or considered me uneducated or lazy ;]

I wanted to use his comment as an example of what people would think..

I'm still going on with my plan to capital I myself...

I've never used lowercase out of ignorance, I certainly know "i" supposed to be capitalized when one is speaking of one's self.

English was never a subject I had trouble in.

My reason was life-style related.. It doesn't take a genius to know what I am talking about...

I was taught, with great effort to think of myself as "i" not "I" and it's become very comfortable for me... however I also don't like to grouped in with the ones who don't know how to use capitals, as Fizbop obviously thought I was from his comment on my last entry, or lazy.. Which I am, just not in this situation....

So I am re-training myself to think "I" except where certain circumstances call for "i".. which I expect will be very difficult, but I'm much more okay with it now. I have less and less of those "i" moments to deal with right now

oh and thanks madame dear-heart... I'ma "i" you all the time..

and that WILL be blessed laziness! ;]

i use a lower-case i as well. And just like you, it isn't out of laziness. i use capitals everywhere else they're called for. In the beginnings of sentences, on names, places, et cetera.

Don't let what someone else thinks bother you, as long as you know you're not lazy, that's all that counts. ^^

MysticalChild

I admit I'm lazy about the beginning of sentences though!

I often don't hit the shift key I'm typing and I'm way too lazy to go back and fix it ;]

I know Fiz wasn't trying to call me lazy or uneducated... he was being helpful....

I just wanted to show that that was what people would perceive of me

I've decided that the usage of lower case i's is fine... but because there are people who are lazily doing it, it's lost it's meaning for me...

so I'll save it for those special times when appropriate ;]

i've always used lowercase i's when talking about myself. There is a reason, but now the lazy have made me feel lumped in with them and i feel like need to break away from that... sigh

So now I'll be changing my habits and calling myself in the capital as is proper.

I hate it, but now the lowercase will be reserved for private situations. Lame.

"I" is capitalized regardless on the context it is used for.

I think, but nevertheless some people don't have the time to be pressing the shift key to make it capitalized. I think you should do what you feel comfortable with regardless of if it makes you feel lazy. Remember though that "I" will be one of the few things you would capitalize no matter where it is in a sentence.
