A good day to stay indoors

02:39 Jan 18 2009
Times Read: 604

From my morning weather email,

This morning - Mixed sun and clouds with isolated flurries

Temperature: -22ºC

Wind chill: -32ºC

Wind 20 km/h S

POP: 40%

And, it snowed enough that I have a bunch a shoveling. Tomorrow is supposed to warm up to -6ºC and snow some more. I think I'll wait for tomorrow's heat wave before shoveling.

Yup. Around here we can get into to -40's with the wind chill once and a while. I have an uncle in Moosonee who often sees the -70's (with wind chill)! As far as I'm concerned, he can keep it!

Snow....again....

At first it was fun. But, the novelty of taking a run at my driveway because the plow came by while I was at work is starting to wear off. Where's the sanity in trying to enter the driveway as fast as you can in order to make it through the snowbank to then try and stop as fast as you can on snow and ice before you make a new gate in the fence for additional parking in the backyard. Actually, now that I examine it, it is still fun....

My stoopid story for the day....

So, today I was taking an arm-load of clothes down to the washer, while walking, decided to grab the cordless phone at the top of the steps to bring it down with me, and in the process of bending over and walking downstairs at the same time, inadvertently took a divot out of my forehead on the corner of a shelf that I clearly fastened too well to the wall. (Note to self, when next hanging a shelf on the wall, use slightly chewed bubble gum as a fastener as opposed to screws and drywall lags. It might give a little when your dumb ass runs its forehead into it).

I feel like the guy in the helmet, except all I have is a band-aid on my forehead. Maybe I should be the guy in the helmet!

Everyone should wear helmets. They'll be cool. And we can say things like "helmets are the new black."

and we won't knock ourselves unconscious around the home.

Fifty bucks...

It occurred to me tonight that there are a multitude of more rewarding things to spend fifty bucks on instead taking three hyper kids out to dinner.

now i know why my parents never took me anywhere until i was 14.

That's why so many kids are fat, the parents don't want to deal with the embarrassment and just pick the kid up a massive amount of food to bring home.

Well, that and laziness.

:)

Luckily, my kids aren't fat. In fact they all absolutely abhor fast-food. Perhaps, in part, the infrequency of dining out was the reason they were so crazed in this case. Fortunately, due to the time of day, we nearly had the restaurant to ourselves. So, overall it wasn't that bad of an experience, really.

I didn't mean that you did it, just people in general.

Note to self

When moving an electrical box in the attic, try to remember to wear a dust mask when rooting through all the blown insulation! (Yeah, I know, it's an obvious one but sometimes you can forget if you get caught up in what you are doing)

Snow, anyone?

Snowing like crazy again today. Already shoveled twice and you wouldn't be able to tell. I think it's kind of cute that some people wish they had snow right now. Clearly, I have an abundance and I'm more than willing to share.

Snow - Free to good home.
