Another, and hopufuy the last, birthday I'm unable to celebrate with Logan in person. He's taking a much needed day off to relax, play his wizard game, and hang out with our girl, Masque. I hate not being able to be there on his birthday, but more often then not, his usually falls on a weekday or a weekend he has with Mina. So, it is what it is. But, things with the Texas house are finally starting to get done, so hopefully it means the move is coming soon. I told him I didn't want to get stuck here for the holidays. But yeah... Even though he won't see it here, and I've already told him on the phone, via text, and on Facebook, happiest of birthdays to my beloved!

I was finally able to go through all my ren faire garb and sort what's in good enough condition to sell. I wound up with seven skirts, a chemise, and two bodices. Most of the skirts and the two bodices I've never worn, and the few things I have worn were for one season, so they're in extremely good condition. I figure I can get between like, $80-$100 a piece for the bodices, and like, $30 for each skirt. I could probably charge a little more than $30, but I think that's a good price point, not too high, but not too low, either. I paid between $60-$70 for each one brand new. I'm not trying to gouge, I just want to get these things to someone who will use them. And, it's an excuse to buy new stuff when we get to Texas. I'm thinking I'm going to start going more masc in style. All that's left to do is get the images and prices posted to a few of the Rennie groups I'm in over on Facebook.

It's been a massive hassle, but I finally got my shitty Alienware laptop sold on Facebook Marketplace. Not for what I wanted, but considering the stupid battery issue, what I am getting is good enough. Especially when you consider it's a six year old laptop at this point and has minimal RAM. But, it's a good little laptop if you want it just for fucking around. I never played a game on it, so I don't know how it handles any of that. It was originally purchased for playing games with my then boyfriend, but then everything went south because of Covid, so it just tended to be used on the odd occasion when I wanted to do something in Photoshop. At least I'm done with all of it, and once it gets shipped out tomorrow, I won't ever have to deal with it again.

Haha, it may have been me. Once the newness wore off, I regretted the purchase. And then it popped up with a battery issue like a year after I bought it, where I couldn't use it unplugged, and ever since I have loathed that laptop.

Nocturnal Retribution has a new Assistant House Master: Adain! Congratulations to him! It's been a bit of a bumpy ride, but in the end, he's shown that he is an asset to the House, and that he's willing to learn and grow, as we all should be. So, yay!

Nic, thank you, for the position you have trusted me with, and for your care in supporting me as a newer member to VR, and for your help and advice, and for the chances you've given me to settle down. I do feel settled now. Thank you. I'm looking forward to enjoying being on VR for the longer term rather than just feeling I don't have any roots here. Thank you, you've helped me a lot.

It's been a stupidly busy week. We've had painters come in and paint the house to prep it for sale, which meant a lot of moving of very heavy furniture and throwing so much into the garbage. I've been up at 5:30 every morning, wrangling kitties, moving things, clearing out rooms to give them the space they needed to get to the walls. My bedroom has gone back to being stark white, something it hasn't been since the house was purchased in 2017. I painted that bitch myself a really pretty blue-green that I loved, and now... Now it's white. So white. So boring. And, it means I can't even put my pictures back up on the walls, because I don't want to fuck with the paint. So, it's a boring white room of boringness. I hate white rooms. I hate neutral colors. I hate beige houses. Give me a moody green or blue, a deep, inviting burgandy, a beautiful black. Give me color. When Logan and I move, I've told him I want colored walls, blacks, blues, greens, reds, and purples. Gold accents. If I can really get my way, I'll have celestial motifs on the ceilings. I would rather kill myself than live with neutral walls surrounding me all the time. So yeah... It's been such a long week. I'm looking forward to the next several days with my beloved, finally able to relax. I know when I get back here, they'll have the flooring people all lined up, which means another busy week of moving heavy furniture around.

Tickets for my mom and I to see Practical Magic 2 tomorrow have been secured! I'm so excited! I've never read the books, but I have always loved the first movie, and I was ecstatic when I heard them announce a sequel. I have a big Practical Magic movie poster that Tommy had given me years and years ago up on my bedroom wall, so I've been a longtime fan, haha. One of these days I'll have to get around to reading the books, as I've heard they're good. But yeah, I'm excited for this one.

Went and saw it last night! I thought it was great... absolutely no spoilers from me, but take tissues just in case you get emotional easy like I do. lol. I forgot it was a book series and now I need to read it! That is going on my list for sure!

I always forget that there are entire generations of people who didn't experience 9/11. And talking to kids and young adults who weren't alive to know what it was like that day, and the years that followed, is rough. Because they will never fully understand. They can see the news coverage today and it doesn't really mean anything to them, but being alive, witnessing it all play out as it happened, that's something I'll never forget. I'll never forget waking up and going downstairs, only to see the second plane hit the towers. I'll never forget how surreal school felt that day, how we just had news coverage going in every class. I'll never forget being huddled in the living room that evening with my parents and my brother, just trying to make sense of what had happened. It's been an entire quarter of a century now, and I still vividly remember everything from that day. I'll never forget.

I remember Turing on the TV and seeing the, Towers right before the second plane hit. Before I went for my Shift at the local grocery store. We had literally No customers all day. It was kinda surreal.

I was sitting in my Life Drawing one college classroom when news of it hit. We were dismissed early and everyone went to the common areas and cafeteria to see the news. Classes were cancelled for the rest of the day. It was horrible to witness and the following days as the searches went on... just awful.

It's 2:30 in the morning and it's 86 degrees outside. We've been in an extreme heat advisory since yesterday. Last week things were finally starting to cool down, now we're back at 100+ degree days, and 85+ degree nights. I hate it here.

Thing's aren't much better on my side of the country. It's been in the 100's with heat index being 106 and sometimes higher. It is outright disrespectful!

I think I may have caught something over the weekend, as I have the worst headache today. It might also be because I couldn't get to sleep last night, despite being next to mi amor and having an edible. Usually I have no issues with sleep when I'm at Logan's, but this weekend was just blah. I wish it would rain again like it did yesterday, but no. Instead, it's just overcast and insanely humid. That hurricane off the cost is doing nothing for us weather wise. It'll be back up in the mid to high 90's again all this week. Just give me autumn already, I've been done with summer since July.

Just got back to Hidden Hills after spending the day at the house looking after my mom. She seems to be doing okay, but I'm still a bit worried. We went to the store, got her some groceries, and we got her something from Popeye's to eat. She mostly just spent the time in her room, sleeping, which I'm totally okay with. Whatever it is that has her messed up, rest definitely will help. So, hopefully she'll be good. Though, I won't feel completely at ease until she sees her doctor.

I'm so thankful to Logan for being willing to drive us out and stay with me while I was with my mom. It's a lot to ask, and the drive can take a lot out of you. So, I appriciate him so much for everything. He's the best.

Logan and I were supposed to go to my aunt Stacy's 60th birthday party today, but I got off the phone with my mom a bit ago and she had to have my brother take her to the emergency room last night, because her balance is all off and she can't stand or walk straight. They didn't find anything wrong with her, but she needs to do a follow-up with her PCP. So, instead of the party, we're going to head over to the house so I can make sure she's okay. This is what I'm really worried about with moving half way across the country... If something happens to my mom, or to Kevin or Liz or the kids... I won't be here. I'll be in Texas. So yeah... Hopefully it's nothing serious with my mom, but I don't want to chance things, so we'll be spending the day with her.
