The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

It's cheesy. But the real thought to ponder is was it meant to be cheesy?

When it first came out, I absolutely loved this movie. It was funny, cute, and had a good story line. Kristy Swanson is great in the role of the cheerleader-turned-slayer. Rutger Hauer was fabulous as the sinister vampire. (A side note, Anne Rice had envisioned a young Rutger Hauer as her model for Lestat's appearance, so this was a wonderful choice I thought at the time.) Paul Reubens was an inspired choice for the sidekick vampire. This was right after Pee-Wee's Infamous Adventure at an adult theatre, so it was amazing to see him in anything again. But he was the perfect comic for the role. Luke Perry... *sigh, well, 90210 was big so they needed a heartthrob I guess.



Looking back on it now.... on the Lite Ages, as they called it in the movie, the campy cheeze layer is even thicker.



But when you think back that TWO of the best shows on television, Buffy and Angel, came from this concept and writer, Joss Whedon, it is apparent that it could only get better from here.

According to Joss Wheden, in his commentary from the Buffy Season 6 DVDs, it wasn't meant to be cheesy. He had the concept that we know now as the Buffy Universe all the way back then. The studio and producers sort of strong-armed him into releasing what we have as the original.

i liked it when i was a young vamp but i kinda dont like it now just doesnt compare to other movies more of a non vamp movie

not a big slayer fan, kristi swanson is cute, but she was completly blown aways by sjm and the nineties buffy, it's one of those movies that when you first see it, it's awesome, but later on you can't believe how eighties it was

I wish i could blow this movie up so we never had the stupid tv show
