When we die do we become spirit energy or do we go to some sort of life stream,I my self think that it works both ways depending on circumstances and what we accomplish in our lives. What is your thought on this?
My personal belief is, when we pass from this we go to another life in spirit but we also leave a little bit of our energy behind to.
I personally believe we change from one body to another, losing a bit of ourselves in the process
I am going to assume that "life stream" would be the spritual hangout for souls waiting to be reintroduced, reincarnated, or stored.
I want to believe it all. If we die, our spirit energy may be free to wander the earth, the comos, or other dimensions and observe and explore. The energy may also be stored (in "heaven") and/or reformed into a new being.
Thank you for clarifiying what I mean by "life stream" TheDog and thank you for your post.I can sometimes connect with other spirit energy and the life stream and it is very troubling when I can't shut it off,I get overwhelmed by the emotions of those who are waiting or lost. They laways ask for guiadnce but still yet I feel like I have no purpose or meaning in life,so in a way I guess that I'm almost like those who are no longer with us.
I think we become spirit energy. we can be called back for help after we die. But i dont think our spirit energy lasts for very long.
i believe in reincarnation so i think that when we die our..... idk what you want to name it,.... essense moves to another earthly body and you go through the cycle of life all over again.
I would like to think of it that way. ad there is some small proof out there of reincarnation. So maybe its possible but like i said i dont think our spirit energy once out of our body last long.
it would be naive to think that the only reality in existence is this one.
keep moving up the line, death is only the start of the beginning.
you have to learn certain things before you die or you get to start over and try again, the term for that is 'reincarnation' i think.
where do you move up to? pssh, you'll figure it out eventually. XD
i think our spirit is energy neverending. so when we die, it continues on, whether trapped here, or moving onto another form of existence.
Thanks to THEDOG for explaining what life stream was. I think we go into like a spirit energy but i think it depends on how the ones we have left behind remembers us to
I now have in my minds eye a room where people are queueing up before they reincarnate lol
I believe that we go to a place where our thoughts and actions have in the past created for us.
Once there we can see the bigger picture, rest and decide what to do next.
Mezkha > there really is no need for you to 'feel' the things you do, all it takes is for you to understand that you, yourself control any communication.
I don't know and honestly I don't care...I'm concerned with my life now. Whatever happens after I die will happen and that's that. Maybe nothing will, I don't know and won't pretend that I do.
Reincarnation maybe, but I'm definitely not sure.
I tend to think that when we die our spirit dies with us.
If our spirit does die with us and I truely believe that it doesn't then why do I have such vivid recollection of lifes many years before my own?Down to small details and names and faces.
I think that things can cluster that "life energy" via our conscious impression on that energy(both being different yet intermingling.) as well as I imaging Attachments that a person creates in life determine such things as "departure" schedules.
I've never understood how a person can think that the spirit dies. If you do that's fine, it's your right to believe what you want. I've just always believed that a spirit, by definition, is something beyond the earthly realm and since death is directly tied to earthly existence it isn't tied to the spirit, or soul.
yet to teether the sould to this realm so limiting the scope of possibilities to a narrow range and then dulling the mystery with , "Hoop and Hype" expectations. What does that have to do with what comes next (if anything) I don't care to get a peek at the end of a movie before I see it. Why should a trailer be so sensational. How many people question the frequency and the lack of variations of phenomenal claims, how many people throw around the miracle word, or are quick to call something evil (taking it out of this realm and putting it beyond us, beyond human credibility). People like to be astonished but using such things to assure sacred held befiefs, If what we teether are selfs to relates to what is projected.. then I imagine, that which is impressed upon us is our own personal finally.
I feel that the source of a spirits energy is within us and thats why I think it dies when we do.
I do feel that by death our everything except the soul, merged in to nature and soul do carry the resolve of past life which is not fed in subtle, and ego. but in between period till it gain other body or merged into eternity, it can invoke nature to its use.
I believe it is a little bit of both. That which composes the soul is pure, raw energy. It's the energy that pulses, ebbs, and flows throughout the planet; and in return it flows throughout the universe proper. It forms galaxies, suns, nebulas, black holes. In a very real way, the human organism is very much made of the same stuff that creates star systems.
Nature itself is a smaller scale version of the whole, its pattern repeats itself time and again in every observable scale.
Energy flows through all matter. We create energy within our bodies that we use to get through life. We turn food into fuel and burn that energy constantly, even as we sleep.
As we die, this energy disperses and winds down. The body no longer produces its own energy. And yet, there is the question of the core energy of the self, that which is made of the same material as stars and star systems. What becomes of this energy? This compacted, highly aware mass that creates our individual self?
I believe that all matter returns to whence it came to a degree. Our bodies decay and the molecules that formed our physical self disperses and returns to what you have termed 'life stream'.
The energies that create the individual soul however? I suppose it depends upon your view point.
Some people believe that this core energy goes to heaven. Some believe that eternal damnation is also possible. Some believe it is reincarnated into another series of souls. Some believe it has the ability to travel on its own celestial journey to land up who knows where.
I think that this energy loses its self awareness, and as it does it disperses into the energy forms around it. Those who are once-born will lose the energy self entirely and will never awaken again.
My personal favorite study of the energy body extends towards individuation of the self. Can the energetic self maintain its own identity and maintain its cohesiveness without the benefit of a physical form?
If psychic travel/ astral travel is any indication, then the answer is yes. The spirit energy concept is a very real possibility.
I think the soul lives on as sort or pure energy until reincarnation.
I think we live on through our children and family, in their memories.
I will leave a small imprint on the world that I have left, like my children, a symbol that I was there and always will be, and maybe I will be reincarnated into someone or something else.
As for the afterlife, when the string is cut, I will leave that till my time is up, but maybe it will be a bit of both.
I believe that everything is matter and energy. Although your physical self gets left behind the energy must go somewhere. I think that the rest is speculation. I feel pretty certain that it doesn't just wander around aimlessly but I could be wrong.
Thanks to everyone who posted here, all of you have guided me to an understanding of what I have expierenced and what I knew was a truth,it almost seems to me to be some sort of alchemy that our spirit uses to manifest a shell or form. The first law of alchemy is this,"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange." It's an equation. Your output has to be of equal mass and materials to what you started with. The base elements have to be similar, therefor aside from being an actual physical and material law, the principle of Equivalent Exchange is also a social law.The world isn't perfect, and the law is incomplete. Equivalent Exchange doesn't encompass everything that goes on here. But I still choose to believe in its principle: that all things do come at a price. That there's an ebb, and a flow, a cycle. That the pain I went through did have a reward and that anyone who's determined and perseveres will get something of value in return, even if it's not what they expected. The physical principle of Equivalent Exchange in the transmutation of matter is an absolute truth. It is impossible to generate matter where none existed before - even though use of a Philosopher's Stone is thought to supersede the law, this is not truly the case.Beyond this, however, the many hardships lead me to question how viable it is as a way to live one's life. I've seen many individuals put hard work in, only to be met with no reward, and see many lives sacrificed in the name of individuals - situations in which no equivalency appears to exist. After being confronted with this I finally concluded that the world was too complex a place for the law to apply to everything in life, and too imperfect for one law to explain everything, but I still chose to believe in the principle the law represents.
Some times we live on and some times we get stuck where we can not cross over, When we cross over we usually watch over people we care about . Or some other forum we may go into to protec our loved ones
When you die you pass on into the next place of being.
At times some mentally and psychically strong people leave parts of them behind in this world causing the Limbo effect.
These trapped souls can only be released into the next place of being by finishing all they wanted to finish in this world.
Then they may enter into the next place of being.
i think you pass on to the next level of life.the one we are experiencing now is just another stop in the destination
I was just thinking about this today, reading about hte newest Budda "reincarnate" who is visiting the area. Several thousands believe he is a Lama reincarnate - his wisdom represents lives upon lives of knowledge. i ask you this - can we not be both an individual soul/spirit/energy, and part of the mass "life-stream". Can parts of us not be able to merge with another soul, and become something more? Like recycled paper, one hundred pieces all different, each contrubuting to creating something new.
I think on a bit of a psychological level when partaining to certain spiritual motivations. These motivations are the need to "live on", in a sense after death, which is the ultimate destination that we know of thus far, that need to "live on" would beckon us to become more spiritual partaining to the affairs of our "immortal soul".
This belief of immortality that may have been conditioned at youth, would subject the individual into a certain manipulated awareness for things hard to understand until a certain age for the awareness to take affect.
I think the idea, since it is a conditioned manipulation, would be presented as a "faith" issue. Though it is not relevant that religion has anything to do with the spiritual side of things.
The life stream theory is a good standard for any base thought when it concerns spiritual obligations.
On a differant note, since we do have the paranormal, which is still under scientific studies to be proven accurate, but rather easy to believe based upon experience...Would be a better participant within this discussion.
From ectoplasm, the substance usually left at the scene of a para-event, as well as apparitions, would be the key factor when spending time on the notion of the energies left behind after the ultimate passing.
I think when we die we make some what of a choice we can choose to stay on earth as a spirt or move on with our lives in whatever way we choose too. Either returning to earth in a new body to joining another relm or after life. I believe this right is gain when you live a good life.
I think we all have a spirit that dwells within making us who we are, and then when our body dies our spirit moves on; I also beileve there are many differant places that our spirit may end up, perhaps even joining with a new body for some.
i think that when we die our spirits get reincarnated into new bodies.
In a way you go in to a life stream and in another you become a spirit as well.
The energy stays here long after we are gone. Doesn't matte what you call it, in my opinion - it's still here.
Well I believe that the spiritual energy is continual and never ending... that it becomes a part of the universal energy and returns when it feels it needs more understanding or more to learn.
I believe in reincarnation...and that our spirits continuously evolve with each reincarnation...that being said, i also believe we leave parts of our spirits behind to watch over our loved ones in each lifetime, who help to carry on the memory of that spirit
our spirits leaves our body and moves on to the next plane.some choose to stay behind with unfinshed or cant let go
I would love to believe in a heaven, or some sort of soul hangout. But, I don't think it's the truth.
I reckon, that when you die, your spirit, energy, whatever-the-hell-it-is-that-animates-you, becomes apart of the universe once more. You will never be a whole again, but parts of you may be recreated with other parts of other beings to make whole beings. I think that's why there is no two same people in the history of forever. It's impossible to have someone who has more than a few elements of what another was.
^.^
Maybe... just maybe... its nothingness...
Id like to hope not however...
I hope when i passs that my energy would live on, as a ghost or another life. yet we do not know what lies beyond the black curtain of death. life stream is that like heaven or hell or a stopping depot for our spirit. was wondering never had run across this before. i would hope no matter where it is it is fast and life must go on
I personally believe that your spirit goes on and like when someone gets pregnant you go to that baby and you just get reincarnated into animal or human.
I used to contemplate the afterlife often... then I realized it is a total waste of time, since beginning somewhere in the next 60 years or so I will have all eternity to contemplate the afterlife.
I think both concepts, "life stream" and "spirit", spawn from most people's inability to psychologically accept their own mortality. There is nothing in the way of credible evidence to suggest that our consciousness lives on in any manner.
Do you remember the time before you were conceived? (Proclaimed past-life regressions aside), that's all death should really be. People talk about ghosts, spirits, the "after-life", reincarnation, etc., and the sum-total evidence to support any of it seems to be zero.
We die, our consciousness ceases, the physical matter which makes up our body is recycled through the planet and eventually through the universe. Why isn't that enough for people?
My suggestion is that it's counter-intuitive for people because everything they experience of the universe is experienced through their consciousness. Attempting to contemplate experience without consciousness is impossible. It's the same reason people have so much trouble grasping physics other than on the Newtonian scale. We live our whole lives interacting with Newtonian-scale physics so anything else seems counter-intuitive and wrong, even when the objective evidence shows that it's right.
We know nothing but consciousness. Those moments when we are unconscious are so few and far between and so devoid of experience that we're unable to count them as any kind of experience because a lack of consciousness is the complete lack of experience. We don't remember the time before we were conceived because we lacked consciousness through which to experience that time. Once we die, we'll have that same lack of consciousness. On a mental level, we simply cease to be.
That might not be fulfilling, comforting or desirable to most people, but it's what all of the credible evidence suggests. I'm not prone to believing things just because they appeal to my personal and/or emotional desires. If I'm alone and I don't like being alone... I'm still alone. If I'm at work and wish I were home, I'm still at work. If I'm going to die and cease to be from any kind of conscious level, nothing I choose to believe to the contrary will do anything to change that. We can accept reality or deny reality.
From the best we've ever been able to determine, acceptance of reality leads to expanded capabilities to have some level of control over that reality. Denial of reality leads to superstitions, irrational fears, persecution, human-sacrifices, cruelty, pain and suffering. I'd rather promote reality than emotionalistic, desire-driven fantasy.
I realize I'm in the minority so here is the challenge: Present credible evidence to show that I'm wrong.
;)
"I am going to assume that "life stream" would be the spritual hangout for souls waiting to be reintroduced, reincarnated, or stored."
What I believe you are referring to is what is known as the soul spiral.
This goes again into an area of belief but energy can't die. It only transforms into something else. I think death is a word we use for something we don't understand. I think of it as a transition. Why would our very essence die? Maybe it is for this very reason we don't remember once in the body. How could you live a fruitful life if you were always either thinking of where you had been or where you might be going? Unfortunately I think some do remember for whatever reasons and they usually get laughed at and finally quit talking about it in most instances. I think this is how religion starts to explain life and death and where we are going or not going when this life comes to an end.
Some appear to tap into this lifestream or whatever name they choose to call it via dreams, NDEs, OBEs and psychic experiences.
this is kinda the same as my reincarnation post i believe in reincarnation so i guess the energy stream would work for transferance into your next life!!!
I believe even if there are people that dont believe in God, we all end up becoming some kind of angel. soo i guess spirit energy. :)
We are electrical beings, we have electrical current going through our bodies. Hence, the whacky "Matrix" storyline, but never the less, we do produce energy. I believe that energy is integrated with everyone else's energy. I mean when we leave this body, we can become part of a collective of sorts. If we chose to reincarnate, we leave that collective. But for the most part, the collective remains.
Both I would say.
I believe in reincarnation so that when we die we move into our next body...but i also believe we do leave parts of our old energy behind
AlexandriasAwakening,
Re: "I believe in reincarnation so that when we die we move into our next body"
Given that the human population is growing, how do you suppose this works? It would seem that for reincarnation to be plausible, there would have to be a large warehouse of human souls waiting for a body. The current human population of the Earth is around 6.4 Billion. A few centuries ago it was half that. A few centuries earlier still, it was smaller still. So is there a warehouse of human souls where souls wait, often for millions of years before a body is available?
We're not dealing with static numbers here so I've always wondered how reincarnationists proposed this to work.
Given the many different theories about what happens after death it is hard to really say what actually happens. I personally believe in reincarnation and that when we die that our soul or spirit moves on to another form. I also feel that because its a form of energy that some of our energy is left behind.
I tend to believe that when we die our spirit energy is released and utilized by other living things.
It's obvious no one knows. If you look here almost everyone starts with "I believe" which is fine. Metaphysically in one school of thought everyone has an oversoul and the oversoul creates other souls that incarnate and are apart of the bigger picture. Whether true or not none of these things can be proven. Only beliefs can be stated.
Supposedly it is like a large sphere and you go in and out of lives, sometimes even repeating one or the other. When another of your souls impinges in its circle of life this is when a person starts to have deja vu and psychic experiences. One does not incarnate in a linear fashion and this is why I have always wondered why no one ever mentions future lives and only past lives...that is providing you believe you have other lives. I think in the physcial the mind cannot accept the idea of living beyond where they presently are in time.
We were taught that a soulmate was someone in harmony and at the same progression in their many incarnations and when these two are in harmony that is what it is. Sometimes it will be someone of the opposite sex that may or may not be a romantic tie in one's life. Sometimes it won't be and possibly just a very good friend that is always there throughout one's life. Other times it will be a short acquaintance because it isn't meant to be a relationship or the other person incarnates too late. All of these things I have heard via spiritualism which is only one world view...there are many, many others.
An interesting book which is quite old is the "Blue Island" which was written by someone whose father was famous in the days of the seance circles. He supposedly died on the Titanic and his daughter channeled him through a circle. It's an interesting read about how people cross over and are still clinging to their old lives, thinking they must eat and sleep and that is provided until they can come to terms that they are now spirit in form and move on. There are many other things, its an interesting book and premise. What I found interesting about what he said was when those that died on the Titanic left their bodies they sort of rose together and many were very upset wanting to go back and get their possessions not realizing that they no longer needed them and crying at being separated from their love ones. Whether anything like this happens I don't know but it was an interesting book or insight into what some believe about death. There was no stream but individual souls still with their own identity. Some I have conversed with in channelings say when one progresses they can merge with things.
A soul is not immortal we were told but it was rare it ever extinguished itself and I think they meant individual aspects I don't know. Most involved in this believe we have a higher self or oversoul. This would be very controversial to someone who grew up with very mainstream beliefs and seem scifi in its nature but there are thousands of people who believe similar ideas. Personally I am going to wait and see because speculation will not make any difference in the long run. :)
Science says that energy can not just go away so something has to happen with our ebergy when we die so it makes spirits. I personally belive the sceintific theory but it is comforting to me and others to think that we go somewhere else. Everyone has their on theory to help them cope with death of others and their fear of death themselves. I have thought about all the theories and most of them are very nice to believe but not proven to be true.
Spiritual energy. We are the most unique living species on this planet.
Coincidence of evolution? I highly doubt that.
The entire universe is energy, as each tiny molecule that makes up everything on this planet.
Well, I have stated in my profile that I believe in reincarnation. I believe when I reach my final life after learning what the higher spirits want me to learn I will turn into a spirit, rather it be an elemental spirit or something else. But I will become a form that is to teach the people about magick and the stories of the dead. These are my personal beliefs and gut feelings.
I agree with Dabbler, The paranormal description as presented by us paranormal researchers is yet the best source of information to date.
