Ordinary people have extraordinary things happen to them all the time. Take for example the lady who rings for an appointment, getting the right number on a misdial, to talk to the right person, who they knew fifteen years before.

Or, when you phone and friend and they answer the call by using your name, saying, ‘I was just thinking of you.’

Or, you think of someone and they phone.

Or, you work on a story and, suddenly the radio presenter gives you the next portion of your story, telling you what the number one was of the year when you’ve set the story… Yes, ordinary people have extraordinary things happen to them all the time.

Like the registration plate you read, that means something to you… or…

Parallel universe? Timeslip? Happenstance? Coincidence, or sheer nonsense??

I personally subscribe to the theory of parallel universes.

Coincidence, and happenstance, coupled with subconscious behavior.

In one word,Im thinking Synchronicity .

I agree Dabbler. I think it's the wish for something to be other than just chance that makes us believe it is much more than just coincidence.

People tend to prefer the 'extraordinary' to the mundane or threads like these wouldn't be so prevalent.

I think some instances can be explain with self fulfilling prophecies.

I also thoroughly believe that potential of the human brain's perception of things has yet to by fully discovered. We are *able* to sense alot of things, including other brain waves and natural energies, just alot of people can not.

I do not necessarily think that we are destined to one particular track, ie fate or destiny.

I don't overly think that everything is random either. I guess I'm still debating the issue with myself. lol

Id say,due to how we are built ,assured,we DO ALL sense these brain waves and energies.Think of fish with their lateral lines.
The kicker is,there are many who do not understand what they are feeling and attribute it to depression or other maladies.Others simply ignore them.
Regardless,we are all affected by it.

I think anything is, in essence, possible.

I believe that spirits/ghost/wraiths whatever term you'd like to use, exist on an energy plane different than ours. So the possibility of Parallel Universes makes sense if you follow that same line of thinking.

Coincidence, and happenstance, coupled with subconscious behavior? Dabs. luvvit. succinct, as ever... tho, events like the first; or someone knowing its you when you phone, after many months... and, then there's the record, that plays in tune, with your life that second... they're all imponderables.

Not really. We are all special.
That everything is connected is a simple truth.

In the field of parapsychology, the occurrence of "knowing" someone's calling when they do without any way of knowing, is usually attributed to clairvoyance (correct me if I'm wrong).

But in order to figure out if fate/destiny are playing a hand, one must first define randomness or coincidence.

I am not going to correct you,because no one knows for sure.But my research points to something sifferent altogether,and that is entrainment.Its natural and is found in almost everything.

There have been times where I feel like I am lost in time for a while.If I stay in the house all day,then go outside,it feels like I have time slipped..

There is another explanation for the "premonition' phone call, and that is that the person simple has a predictable life with many reoccurring phone calls, wjhen a specific person doesn't call for awhile (at a specific time) the brain still holds that info and blips the mind into phasing that info into our consciousness, just think of all the times you had "a feeling" that didn't pan out.

True Dab,but while it might be the case in some instances,Im pretty sure not for all.I have been finding things that point in a differnt direction.Not paranormal,but geomagnetics.

Science gives us many valid (but incomplete) explanations of reality, one no more "true" than another, yet when combined, ALL theories provide the truest picture.

So...all these posts have something of relevance in them, although taking Angelus's first post, I have to say I favour coincidence and confirmation bias to explain what he asks about.

It's called the "brotherhood of man." We're all connected. More so than we admit to. One of the three topics that JC taught. It's no wonder that it never caught on. Our Ego always gets in the way. But learn to work with it and these happenings show themselves. If you made a post on the so called "powers" that people have, you would be getting posts of members saying they can read minds! It's all the same though. We're all connected to each other.

Good evidence of a collective consciousness is that many times we will see different people from different areas around the world who come up with the same idea about something at the same time.
I think this has to do with the geomagnetic lines(ley lines) and is an example of how humans are built to accomedate this type of communication .

an alternate point of view would be either genetic memory?

or, an awakening of concsiousness, amongst some individuals...
