ok this should be easy, but i have never found a convincing answer...

I think it is because we represent the dark side of themseles that they fear.

That could be part of it. People also tend to hate what they can't understand.

some just choose to dislike what they assume to be out of the ordinary...
they have no understanding of it therefore they believe it isn't just...

i dunno .. where i go to school goths blend in with everyone and well we dont have preps sooo but anyway.. being goth is diffrent or change and it scares people.. cuz goths dont look like them.. and they dont care what people think about them (goths),

There are what we call 'gothlings' who don't quite understand the entire jist of being a gothic-romantic (such as myself, for example,) and then there are goths.

A complete different aspect, I'd say. A gothic romantic -may- still shop once or twice the sale racks of Hot Topic (guilty, as charged,) but I will not make sure -every- piece of cheap jewelry, hsirt, etc comes from that place. I prefer to make everything myself, really, or have it made custom for myself when I can.

Worst case scenario, I blend in, and no onw knows -what- I am. Ah, to be a changeling.

people can hate what they do not understand or what is not like them. there are probably too many reasons to list that people hate goths. i love them, they are just yummy.

I AGREE WITH YOU XERA ,BUT ALSO BECAUSE PEOPLE HINK THAT WE ARE REALLY MEAN ASSHOLES WITH NO MANNERS OR RESPECT FOR OTHERS AND THEY ASUME THAT WE ARE ALL SATANISTS

Of course, throughout history anything presented to the general public as odd or abnormal is considered dangerous. People have a tendancy to create safetly nets for themselves, venturing out into the unknown is not an option for them.

We don't comform we dress differently/radically we also don't listen to "normal" music now these people are surrounded by the polar opposite of all the above for their whole lives so it is possible they percieve us as a threat to their perception of reality/normalacy (I think)

See, that's the problem with society, nobody wants to give new ideas a chance. everyone's stuck in their "little boxes" that for them represent their own close minded ideals and prejudices. Although I'm not a goth, I love goths! The way they dress, the manner in which they see the world, everything that defines a goth I love. Perhaps the only thing that stops me from being one is the fact that alot of my goth friends tell me I'm too happy-go-lucky. which i guess is true, but I mean goths smile and laugh too don't they? Just because being a goth is accociated with darkness and the archane doesn't mean they don't know how to have a good time.
Man, I love you goths...lol.
