Okay...I have had my share of friends...but I have two true friends...I mean people that would kill or be killed to save me...the question I have is this....what is a true friend to you people?

Someone you can trust you know will help out when you need them I have on true friend and he has been there for me and I have been there for him
But trust is the most impotant thing for friends

A true friend to me is one that counts on me but is also someone I can count on for anything. Someone who may have a busy life, but still finds the time to call and check up on you even when you didn't. One that enjoys being with you as much as you enjoy being with them. A true friend like the ones I have love unconditionally and never pass judgement when I make a mistake. A true friend is honest and loyal.

You see that is what gets me...I lost truat for my friends when this happened to me...I have two true friends...they would do anything for me...where as my other friends or so-called friends stabbed me in the back...

I gave up a couple of friends for just that reason. I don't tolerate being stabbed in the back deliberately. I know people who only call when they need something from me and that is not a true friend either. Some people don't treasure the friendship like they should. They assume that friends that have been loyal to them for a number of years are expendable. Not so.

with friends like that who needs enemies or is it enemas? I keep forgetting which one it is...lol

See I understand where you are coming from...I am somewhat like you...only I gave these friends another chance...what do you think they did with it...

A true friend to me is a person that i can trust totaly, one that is there for me. A person that knows what and when to say, and when to quietly sit next to me, just being there.
Just the tought that there is someone who cares,realy cares for you makes this damn life easyer.

A true friend is someone that you can trust and that you know will be there for you. They won't stab you in the back or lie to you.

For me a true friend is someone you would not only die for if need be but some to live for...

A true friend, is someone you can call at 4 am because a pet dies. A true friend will not judge you or put you down. A true friend will always understand. Someone you can trust 100% without question. When you have these you have a true friend.

I have no true friends. But, from my life experiences:

My true friend was someone I would die for, someone I could trust with all the secrets of my heart, and they could trust me. I had one true friend. But even true friends betray, it is human nature. So I guess the question would be, is there really such a thing as a true friend?

I have never had anyone i could talk to about anything. infact when i was in my early teens i withdrew into my own head to talk to myself to sort things out in my head. i did it a lot, kept a lot of things to myself. I couldn't tell anyone.

I've been with my girlfriend for nearly 4 months now, and i've never been able to talk to anyone like this before. we talk a lot, worries, ideas, problems.

I have honestly never had anything like this before and i treasure it so much.

I just want to say if you have someone like that. don't lose them. and make sure you are there for them back.

Yes I know what u mean Gorey, I have it similar. Im with my boy for about and half years....But its not so easy as problems come....
I know I need him, but at the same time now it is unbearable, because just as it is wonderful that u have someone like that, it also is worst in that case he or she hurts u...

A true friend to me is someone who is honest with me no matter what! So that means if i ask, "do i look stupid in this?" i want the honest opinion even if it really made me look stupid id rather know then walk around lookin dumb. Also someone i can trust enough to talk about my personal problem or any at all. Someone who would treat me like i was their own sister, and if we ever got in a fight someone who won't call me the some racist name the second we stop talking. (and i have had like 3 ex-friends do that)

oh also someone who are themselves and not trying to be someone else they can never be. I have a friend who tries to be exactly who i am and it drives me insane to the point where i wanna beat the crap outta her. I have little sisters that try n be like me i dont need a grown person doin it to me! I respect someone that can be themselves around me, cuz i never judge ppl for being who they are...

true thera... i've never broken up with any girl i've ever been out with... granted it's only been about 3 girls. but i still hold the same sort of view.

In society, we talk to people, and make small alliances. We have no reason to trust a person or be nice to one, but its in our nature to do so. The problem with this is that, like in relationships, people may not turn out how you expected or visa versa.

This happens. Such is life. Usually you know who the true ones are when you hit a down time in your life, but if oyu dont take that leap you will never know, but most importantly, if things do go wrong, spend a ltitle time reflecting and then bounce back again, instead of dwelling on what went wrong in the past.

true friends.. so many of you have refered to the eternal quality of true friendship. I disagree. I frimly believe that we have seasons in our lives. A friend today may not be a friend tomorrow. As we progress thru different stations of our lives things, needs, and people change. That does not mean that the wonderfully close friend i had 3 years ago wasnt truly my friend, just that we are both in a different place now and dont share the same space that we once did. I do not think that in any way invalidates the friendship we had. For everything there is a season. A time to reap; a time to sow..........

I totally agree with Scarlett.

Because we are all works in progress, we strive for improvement. Not all Individuals grow at the same pace. i no longer speak with a good friend that i had a few years ago simply because we changed as people . That by no means negates the fact that this person was indeed a true friend. Like summer and fall, we move into different episodes of life and sometimes the friends we have just no longer seem to fit our puzzle pieces.

I was just returning tomake a point about our own perspectives of friendship. Everyones ideas of what a true friend is totally differs from one to the next. Two people are lucky to find something like that in eachother, and although we could easily focus on who has let us down, its so much better to focus on what goes right, and how lucky we are to find certain people, although Im not under the illusion that these htigns are eternal (I think Scarlett had a great point about seasons of life) as we change our skin, we change our company.

i d ont have one true friend at all but i used to. true friends are there when you need them and when they need you. they are very supportive and much more

It is not sad to only have one true friend. It is much better to have one than none.

Yes they truly did spit in my face...I don't care why they did it because they are not friends if they did it. My first true friend....I was walking down the street and someone came at me with a knife. My friend jumped in front of me and got stabbed instead...I flipped out after that...my friend is like a brother to me...I mean we have sliced our hands open and shared blood with each other, so you can understand why I flipped out...I put the guy with a knife in the hospital for eight months....my friend wasn't stabbed enough to get killed or enough to be put in the hospital...it was a minor scratch...but he risked his life to save me. That is a true friend to me.

A true friend to me is someone whos bad points dont matter to you and vice-versa. You understand everything about each other, and will always be there for each other no matter what. someone you can really TRUST.

i think a true friend is someone who will do anything for me and love me not matter what i do ...will hold me when i cry...will help me when i need it...and wont get mad at me for just anything

For instance, not too long ago I suffered a great betrayal from one friend, and I wasn't in my right mind, infact thought I was losing my mind from the devastation it caused me, and my best friend came and got me and took me out and kept me out till I'd settled down and stopped crying, and it was okay for me to return.

That, above all else is what true friendship is to me, when you need the person, they are there..

The person who did all this for me was ravensblood. I love her to death and she's my best friend. I'm always going to be grateful for her doing that. Thank you Jen, I love you pretty girl.

i would say true friends are people that stand by you and help you through anything that comes up, plus they would risk there lives to help you. i had only one true friend and he died in 1996 from risking his life to save mine.

What a true friends to me is someone who understand me. That will not judge me. Someone who is there through thick and thin. Is there through all off troubles and all my achievements. Someone who would not lie to me. Smeone who cares and love me for who I am.

That is what a true friend means to me!

I really don't believe in true friends anymore.

My "Best friend" started ignoring me when she started going out w/ her boyfriend. that killed me...
Everytime he's not there she comes to me, but otherwise she's never there when I need her.

Being a friend to me...is knowing that each person has a path to walk, and they may not always be with you. Sometimes they do come back, or keep in touch even in the smallest of ways, but a real friend is always there to support you and remember you no matter where life takes them. I never hold onto anyone or get mad if they leave. I may miss them but i understand, we all have lives to live and we follow our callings. A friend understands this, among other things, and will always be there when the other needs them to be.

to me a true friend has his trust in you and you in him. you can tell him or her any informatiom and it will stay between the two of you. a person that you can rely on would be a true friend in my eyes.

I am so sorry to hear that, Moonshadow. That is really too bad. This friend does not realize what they have given up for a guy that makes her beg. I bet you even still worry about her even though you feel like trash left at the curb. I had a friend that did me that way, too. There is nothing you can do to make her see the light either, unfortunately. You can either be a friend and sit idly by waiting or let the friendship go completely and feel guilty later for it.

I used to think that a true friend was someone who would take a bullet for me......but know I know it's someone I would kill others to protect.....bit of a reversal of ideal..

We both met when we were six... playing soccer (can you imagine me in the sun?)!

We have both changed a lot... she loves her sports and I love my pale skin and black clothes...

We've been thru thick and thin, deaths, romances, groundings, and so on...

We both made huge mistakes and it almost cost our freindship but we talked about it, made a few new choices, and got on with or lives...

We live over each other's houses and call each other parents mom and dad...

When we get grounded we get grounded from seeing the other outside of school!

True friend, no such thing. everybody dies in the end, your allways left alone. humans are greedy by nature, there is nothing they wont do if it holds a profit to them.

i don't have any true friends, sad but true. But if i did have one, they will probably die for me cus i would die for them, no questions asked. they will understand me, know how i'm feeling just by looking at my face, know how to cheer me up whenever i'm down, & i would do the same with them. we will have this mysterious bond that can never be broken.
